Legend mate, real inspiration for newbies like me, who needs a big fancy boat to get into some great fish?! Also, my dad enjoys your videos a lot as well, he has high hopes my channel reaches as many viewers as yours 🤓
I went and bought myself a kayak last weekend, I’ve had a tinnie for a while but it’s 2 lots of registration with the trailer, I never bothered to get a boat licence so I need one of those, and I’ve had some back surgery so loading and unloading, plus getting in and out of a tinnie on my own can be a pain, literally, so I bought a kayak, I have a ute with ladder racks, I’ve wired up a winch to load it, and I’ll just do a bit of fresh water fishing and once I’m more confident I’ll get into the bigger stuff.
Awesome, another great vid. Trick for catching gardies at night, under a light, smack 'em across the back with something long and thin (I've used a gidgee handle fairly successfully). They tend to float after that and you can net them.
Just be careful going offshore in the kayak Nev. I've been on the water all my life and on a couple of occasions the weather has done the exact opposite of the forecast. One time me and a mate were in a 18 foot tinny, not a plate boat, an open centre console tinny offshore, fishing a complete glass out, it was a beautiful day. Halfway home we were hit buy an un forecast weather change, and it nearly sunk us, it broached the boat a couple of times, as we tried to go the shortest route back, and we had green water waves landing in the boat. we had to punch at about a 45 degree angle into about 35 knots of south easter. I radioed in our position in just as we were hit buy a huge wave that ripped the radio out of the console, really scary sh1t. I know you're a lot closer to land than we were but be safe.. Keep your safety gear close and expect the unexpected...
Great point mate, there can be some serious reality checks out on the ocean! I try to control everything which I can but I defintely understand your point
I'm from northern Australia and when you say 7 oh you mean No# 7. A 7 oh is a huge hook. We use 80lb line here large hooks and still get pooled. Come fishing with us anytime. In Bondi Beach we use Bonito live for Kingfish. Bondi is 3000 miles from where I live. Come visit ❤
Jesus you must be pretty bloody north. I’m about 120k’s from Bondi, haven’t been there but one of my jobs leaves from near enough to Maroubra which is only a few km along from Bondi. Near the airport.
@@doncampbell1609 I did, terrifying stuff. Estuary’s are the go for kayaks but I respect the hustle going off shore in them! I’ll stick to my boat offshore though 😂
Hey Nev, always pleasure seeing your contents. Can I suggest you to try a food chain challenge from a bread 😂. I think it was Frigate mackeral you caught. I think mac tuna has dots on the belly.
Hey Nev I believe you caught a mac tuna, bonito don't/rarely get that big and have stripes instead of the cool patterns that mac tuna have. They don't taste as good but they are not bad snapper bait great video keep it up
nev if your looking to catch some quality Australian salmon you should go to point turton in SA you get hundreds of schools at the jetty their and they are quality from about 40cm up to 80cm, their is also a lot of kingfish their but no big ones just rats
Hi, Nev what fishing kayak do you have becuase im planning on buying one but i want one on the cheaper side if you have any recomendations, Love the videos though keep it up❤
Great stuff! You should really try for a mulloway this season Nev. I am confident you will get one. They love those squid that you are catching, the fresher the better. Baits around 30-35cm are usually the go. Live slimy or yakka or even salmon. Run atleast two different Mulloway rigs. (the rig you use for snapper will do but also try a size 6 or 8 ball sinker rig) Think Big!
@@teeanahera8949 Beautiful healthy fish but those are considered "soapies". There are plenty of fish over 15kg and that would be great to see Nev with a big trophy silver ghost. I haven't really seen many land a big Jew from a yak and definitely not down south where he is getting those big southern calamari. It would definitely make for good footage and content and Nev is definitely up there when it comes to some of the kayaking content on UA-cam.
Another great video! A while ago I asked for a vid on catching flounder - but I was thinking estuaries and bays - not blue water ocean! Do you ever troll behind the yak as the speed and motion would seem to be ideal?
I like the offshore kayak vids, looked like a lot of fun. Thanks for posting
Glad you enjoyed it
Mate! You should have taken the flounder home!! Best eating fish in my book 🤤
Wow! What an action packed little off-shore session...shot beautifully too!!!
Thanks 👍
That's mac tuna at the start was good
Oh mate I'm frothing the offshore content! Crazy fish bro🙌🙌

mack tuna , awesome bait for snapper .
Nice action. Love that cast hook up in the beginning. In Hawaii they're called Kawakawa. We eat them here, pretty bloody but good sashimi.
Nice fishing session. Always fun to catch and release a mixed bag of fish. Peace from California!
Mac Tuna as the stripes start after a gap behind the head, with Bonito the stripes begin much further forward.
Goos session, bunch of species & a tasty size snapper which was about the perfect size.
Perfect for eating!
Always love a vid from nev. I broke my leg so won't be fishing for a while 😭

If you sit and fish for a long time,
Be careful of back damage ^^

Great vid nev. How deep were you fishing the vibe? Havent had much luck with them
15-30m
Hey Nev, great video mate! You should do another video beach fishing for gummies. Keep it up mate
that fish wasn't a bonito, but a mackerel tuna, they look a bit similar but mack tuna generally get quite bigger
Cheers nev ❤
Thanks!
Nev that first tuna is a mackerel tuna (Mack tuna) not a bonito
beat me to it
What’s the difference. I know it’s a stupid question

Got any tips for silver trevally at inverloch this time of year?
Shoulda kept the Bonnie's. They taste good especially if bled straight away😊
Bloody good bait too..!
Mac Tuna Nev, not Bonito. Great video as always man! love it.
Hey mate what part of NSW you in, great vid also
Hey Nev ! Love the video . How deep do you go for squid , flathead and /or whiting . Cheers

Btw those fish you caught are mackerel tuna, not bonito but most people call them Mac tuna for short

mac tuna the first fish was mate.
When you fish with bait, do you have the sinker sitting on the ground and dragging, or do you have it slightly up off the ground?
Awesome video, a longy wouldve done a lot more tho lol. Solid Mac Tuna though

Mack tuna Nev

Where are you fishing these days???
Hey nev. Where abouts in nsw was this? I'm from nsw.
That first one I think was a Mac tuna
You should try trolling behind the Kayak.
u should keep the bonito they r delicious and great bait
Thanks, will do!
Hi nev I have a hobie outback just wanna know what rods you use for bigger fish like these . Length and type of rods
Was this in nsw ?.... any offshore kayak fishing spots you'd reccomend in victoria or too dangerous for offshore ?
mac tuna nice
how long is the kayak?
Nev, how far would offshore be? It looks like your about 2 nautical miles from the shore. Is that about right? Cheers, James.
The fish you caught at 1030 was a grunter not a tarwon or what ever you said and yes their related to bream.
day 2 of asking to for you to fishbin the barwon river
Mac tuna they’re called, would of made real good bait
We're abouts in NSW are you
How come you use okuma gear now
Mack tuna not bonnito mate 😊
