When i was young my dad would take me to the beach, slap on a live shrimp, and we would catch the by the dozens. 😅 our record was 39 pompano and permit, those were my best days. 😌
Your best days are yet to come as this life is temporary! In no time at all the days will no longer be nger matter. It sounds like it's time to get out that old rod and reel and go fishing from the bank. Be blessed always. 🙏🎣❤️
I live in Canada and am a salmon and trout guy, and that's mainly all we have in my area besides dumb bass. When I get home from work it's awesome to have a new video from you in another part of the world making me feel like I'm there. Great videos!
Thanks so much for watching Liam even though you aren’t near where I am. You know it’s funny even though I live in Florida now. I’m originally from up north and this time of year if I’m watching fishing videos it’s more of ice fishing than anything haha. The cold weather fishing is in my blood haha
I am a kitesurfer/windsurfer who fishes when waiting for the wind to come back. If I had a day, like you just had, I would be set for the rest of my life, fishing wise. You are clearly a pro fisherman. Watching the video I was like..."how can I get transported there in the blink of an eye to go fishing like this dude"...hahahaha...awesome video thanks!
For me, this would have been one of the best fishing days of my life catching that many pompano! For Rich - it was a Tuesday. Lol! I love how much information I can get from your videos to help better my success. You always seem prepared for everything! Great vid!
Those Pompano are definitely smart! Did not want to get in that net. LOL! Thank you for the awesome content. It really helps during the miserable northern cold.
I watch a lot of fishing channels on this platform and others. I have to say yours has some of the best overall content and production quality. I live on the west coast of Florida and our fishery is similarly diverse. It's always fun to go out and catch your target species but there's something special about not knowing what's at the end of the line until you get it up. Great job on getting that little Jewish out of the rocks. I've had some good sandwiches off of them back in the day!
This looked like so much fun 😅 As someone born and raised in MN, ice fishing, in sub zero weather. Watching you and people like The Sinker Guy and The Cambodian Angler are really making me want to take a trip down south. I also have made a dropper(pompano) board for rigs for walleye and crappie. Also when I transition careers I plan on buying a house near the Atlantic or gulf in Florida. Gunna need a bigger kayak 😁
There’s quite a few grouper on those rock spoils, and make a trip back to those docks early summer, early AM. Plenty of snook on em then. Theres a park right by them you can launch.
Man, I can’t wait to move back home. We’re looking at the Sebastian area when it happens brother I would love to fish with you. Your content is awesome you’re one of my absolute favorites.
I Love fishing ! Unfortunately I live in northeastern and fishing season is really short. One day I will move to Florida and fishing is the only thing that I will do in my free time 😁 Love your videos bro. Keep more coming
I knew you’d love the pompano fishing it’s insanity!! They’re good but not near as good as sheeps head in my opinion. Hopefully I’ll see you out there one of these days!
I noticed you prefer to cast right handed. Try switching your handle to the left side and you won't have to switch hands to reel. You'll get use to it and be more proficient making more cast.
Speaking of pompano please try Henry's at the Market in Charleston. It is superb and I remembered you go there. I was surprised to see you net the bluefish. They are net destroyers as you know.
Imfo, for Jason Thomas. I moved to Sebastian,4 years ago. The fishing here is terrible. Except for the inlet, the inside in the IRL,is the worst. I live on the Sebastian river, and only catch mostly catfish, and snook at night i came from the west coast in Steinhatchee river. The fishing there was terrific one can limit out in 30 minutes,on the flats outside the river. Good luck.
the pompano has very good meat, I fish here in brazil with crabs 🦀 live they go crazy, usually the rivers meet the seas or in shipwrecks..they are electric..
What was the water temperature where you were fishing? I am on the Gulf Coast just north of Clearwater in Palm harbor. Our water temperature is down to 62 and I think that's a little cold for Pompano. What do you think? Also, good job on your videos. Very good content that I enjoy. Thanks for your work.
That's crazy Rich! I didn't know pompano could be caught on a voodoo shrimp. I thought pompano only stayed on the beach in much clearer waters, not no backwater?
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
My favorite white flaky fish to date has to be Trippletail, Pompano, and then believe it or not Snook. Out of the Tuna species and I’ve had fresh bluefin, yellowfin, and bigeye right after it’s caught sometimes the flesh is still twitching lol. I prefer the fatty bluefin because at times it can be so tender. Anyway its all good stuff that I prefer over a piece of fish from a supermarket and who knows how old it is. Anyway, thanks Charlie for watching and Tight Lines!!!
Thanks Heath! Glad you enjoyed!! That croaker was a monster. I’ve been catching quite a few of them all over this winter accidentally. They taste amazing!
Yes they do my dad I use yo catch them off the pier here when I was a kid. I caught several this spring that were 13 to 14 this spring trying to catch pin fish for bait
I know exactly where you're at by the charter school on Indian River Drive near 2nd Street I wade fish there every Saturday/sunday morning the past snook season I caught three slot snook in 3 days and the guy with the retriever walks his dog and plays fetch every morning right where I'm fishing one time the guy was letting the dog try to grab my snook out of my hands while i was taking a picture
I'm new in fishing and i wanna know why you don't just lift if up the fish using ur rod and increase ur drag to max so you don't have to use that net? makes it easier right?
Just curious have you or any of your kayak fishing buddies ever forgotten a rod or net sticking up when you tried ducking under a dock? It seems like the sort of thing I would forget about. Cheers ~ulrich
Love your channel. Question. I have an opportunity to surfcast in Mexico. Its a Bay so the surf is low to moderate. What size reel would be best? For Jacks, snapper.....strong saltwater fish under 50 lbs... I want to keep it as light as possible. Would a 5000 size spinning reel be adequate? Thanks!
how do you like the j& h psychedelic rod, please review? I'm putting my order in for pink, blue, and silver to match the reels. I already have both the casting psychedelics X & Z, which are great.
I’m giving away two of them once I hit 200k subscribers! So hit the red sub button to speed up when I do that haha. Then you’ll have a chance to wind one for free! Tight Lines!
I would love to catch pompano in the Naples area. I have caught a few off the beach blind casting flys, but this was amazing. Any tips or locations near Naples would be appreciated. Great video. Your the Casey Neistat of fishing vids.
Thanks Jim so much!! Unfortunately I really don’t have much knowledge to share over there in Naples. Pretty cool to catch them on the fly! I’ll have to try that!
It all depends on the location. If you are asking and referring to the location and species I was targeting in this video. I’ve found the incoming to be the best time.
@@FishAholicTV got mine about 8 months ago. I like it so far. Mainly do freshwater in Lake County. Haven't done salt with it yet. Plan to soon, probably indian river in titusville/merritt island. Great video by the way, looked super fun
So I’ve watched who know how many hundreds of Florida fishing videos. This is the first mention of them jumping behind the boat. 🤷♂️ was completely calling bullshit n damn if you caught one. Well played

When you said you’ve never eaten pompano my jaw dropped! I hope you enjoyed them and have a new top favorite fish to eat 👏🏼
I live in Toronto, Canada. Never been to the Sea/Ocean & I've had pompano.
I sautéed them in butter with lemon, Excellent ;)

I swear you Floridians are so lucky to have a fishery like you do! I’m always jealous! Haaa. 😅
Hey Rich! I seen you at the st Lucie locks yesterday. You landed a 35 inch snook! It was a pleasure meeting you.
Hey Cody, nice to meet you as well! I hope you caught some more fish!
Great video cool opening sequence and boy the fish where biting that day..

Haha yeah they saw it coming 🤣 happy to help get you through the winter!
I literally opened the UA-cam app and said “I wonder if there’s a new Fishaholic video up”
BANG 🎣
Champagne and Pompano. Boy, they go together. - The One and Only Rocko

The sound of drag ripping ❤️
I’ve never caught a pomp on an artificial shrimp lure, that’s pretty cool!
Yeah super fun too!
Monster croaker , glad you kept it ,very underrated fish

Got a love the fight of a keeper pompano 😎

Welcome back! Was starting to wonder where you've been. Always look forward to your videos.

Yeah it was a great day!
Thanks for another great video on my birthday Rich!

Pompano best tasting fish in the sea!
I like the way you release many more than you keep.

Great content Rich, grouper was awesome!

Hey Rich, great video as always. When you get a chance, would you let us know how to distinguish between a Pompano and a Permit. thanks
Thanks again brother for those Pompano filets!
Those pompano made for some great catching! ♥
I've only finished fresh water but if I ever do get a chance to get down there I'm definitely going to bring some voodoo shrimp
That juvenile jew fish (aka goliath) was a sweet catch. Thank you for releasing it safely.
I noticed you prefer to cast right handed. Try switching your handle to the left side and you won't have to switch hands to reel. You'll get use to it and be more proficient making more cast.

Nice Pomps...good fight and good eats!
the pompano has very good meat, I fish here in brazil with crabs 🦀 live they go crazy, usually the rivers meet the seas or in shipwrecks..they are electric..
Another great vid Rich. Never eaten a Pompano either - never catch any big enuf in the surf in MD to keep.

Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Thanks Donnie! Glad you enjoyed! Tight Lines!
Beautiful grouper!
Can't believe you've never caught keeper Pompano! Or eaten them! Omg. Did not know about stirring them up, like you said! Cool
It was cool to catch them. I’ll definitely have to try again and I’ll try my best to stir them up better.
@FishAholic Fishing tell us how you like them after tasting them bad boys also! Thanks Rich
Ive kayak fished alot i realy only ever skip them in the boat though
I eat a lot of different fish species and Pompano is one of the tastiest fish out there.
I agree with you on that note. Thanks for watching!
Those shrimp are great but expensive! I wonder if there is a cheaper alternative that works
Another great vid! must get there before I run out of time!
What swim baits are you using? Headed down the Cudjoe key I could use some help!
What part of florida are you in

Man love the vids, been a fan since covid. Where exactly in the Indian river was this? Sebastian? Fort Pierce?
Herro lol
Wish u were using the vudu shrimp without the juice so I can see just how good it works.
But all in all great vid
What type of lure scent do you use in this vid and cudos to taking that croaker home he was huge and they are delicious from Texas love some croaker
Is that green rod a MH? I'm just curious. There are a couple on the description page.
i was just wondering if the older hobie mirage outbacks were able to fit the 180 drive pedals that you have ?
To me, Yellowfin Tuna is the only fish in the ocean that is arguably better to eat than Pompano. Pompano are terrific to eat and fun to catch too.
My favorite white flaky fish to date has to be Trippletail, Pompano, and then believe it or not Snook. wow amazing video fishing my friend 👍

I wait out blackfish just like that grouper. They eventually just swim out. Same with sea bass
Awesome fishing
Hi - really enjoy your channel! What kind of jacket are you wearing in this video?
Looks like you have caught both

Hey Rich, what rod do you like for throwing big top waters for stripers like the doc and the jigging world version ?
Great trip great video
`excellent ride along and limit catch. How long did it take to catch the limit??
May i ask what kind of bottle liquid that you apply on the soft shrimp bait?
Just curious have you or any of your kayak fishing buddies ever forgotten a rod or net sticking up when you tried ducking under a dock? It seems like the sort of thing I would forget about. Cheers ~ulrich
