Glad to see even though you have a load of expensive tools you dont mind breaking out the hand tools now and again. Also, great use of offcuts and proper smart looking.
Great video mate! Coming from over the pond in Chicago... I just bought the lumber and 1x1's spindles, purchased green treated wood and some purple paint! Doing a pet project for my girl's mom she loves to garden and what better way to get her more motivated? Lol.
Thanks for the comment mate. This was a good project and for not a lot of cash you get something that looks good in the garden. And Purple will really brighten it up! hope it goes well.
Thanks dude I'm new to this so this has really helped me but please put some shoe's on i don't want you to get injured and keep doing more helpful videos 😊
Hi Matt, really great tutorial. I do all my stuff by hand with a handsaw and usually use an Irwin Jack. What is the name of the saw you are using? It looks good and sharp. Mine is getting a bit blunt so I think it is time for a new one.
Hi Matt, did you change the design as I noticed that at 3.00 the end pieces are on the inside of the stretcher boards and at 3.30 they are on the outside of the stretcher, I only ask as I will attempt this build and wondering which way the end boards are easier to fix.
Hi there, i think i did alter it but that was only so i could make it longer to fit the final location. It dossnt matter which side the support are on as the are only used to hold the sides together. Hope that helps
This is brilliant! I'm currently learning Carpentry in College and I'm going to give this a ago. I'm glad you used a hand saw to cut your timber and not a eletric saw. Also, where did you get the Timber from? 😊
Thanks, appreciate the feedback and sorry for the slow response. I got my timber from a mixture of places as it was leftovers from previous projects, i think the decking was from wickes and the treated 3x1s and 2x1s were from a local fencing supplier
Well done mate. Straight forward, no fuss. Thanks.
No problem. Glad you liked it.
I like the intro, eating bbq'n, making stuff and drinking beer. You're my kind of bloke to hang out with.
Thanks Anthony, appreciate it!
Great stuff, Matt. That's my job for the weekend. Thank you.
Hope it went well!
@@MATTDOESSTUFF2020 Thanks to you, yes. I've made half a dozen in the last few weeks. :)
Exactly what I was looking for. Pre made, that would be £70, and would come unlined. Lovely, simple tutorial. Thank you.

I like my expensive tools but sometimes all you need is a few simple tools.
Hi Matt I'm so excited to be making my own thanks very much, once I've m as de this I want to make a huge one.
Nice one Floyd, I think for something relatively simple they look great in the garden and don't cost much to put together. Good luck with the big one!
Good job......nice to see someone not using the circular saw for a change 🙂
Thanks 👍
Great use of your leftover "deck" mate. Used the length really well 👌

Thanks Cecilia, sometimes its just as easy by hand. The saw im using in this video is a stanley fat max tenon saw.

Is that a plastic bag you inserted in the planter box?? If not, what’s the name of the material. Thanks!
What screws do you use please?
I imagine he probably uses decking screws as it is decking he’s using and they’re designed to work outside in the weather.
