  • Another day in the allotment garden, finally getting my last raised bed finished. It's been a long time coming but the main area is finally done. We now have 2 main beds built from decking, 3 beds built from pallets and 1 bed that was a kit from Aldi. Still a few little bits to finish off and improve, but I'm just glad the main crop area is finished off and I can get to growing all that lovely fruit and veg.

Love your dog coming to supervise, and your daughter making sure it’s done properly. Thanks for sharing, hope you’ve found your power drills in the last 7 years! X

Well done mate. A straight forward planter build which does the job without any extra bull$#*! normally seen in other fancier video's. Impressed by your screwdriver work.

I just found your video hunting for how to make a raised garden bed from leftover deck woods and i have to say i LOVE YOUR VOICE LOL!!! thanks for the video this helps a lot! I have a whole pile of wood planks left over and horrible clay soil, so this looks easy enough for me to make!

You deserve a medal for hand screwing all that 😳

If you want the boards to last, invest in pond lining to protect the surfaces in contact with soil and water. Pressure treated timber resists, but is not immune to rot. Pop holes in the bottom and use sacrificial wood as slats if you raise it up on legs. My raised bed built from scaffold boards rotted after 5 year with landscape fabric liner.

all the vids i've watched about building a planter, and how refreshing to see someone actually using man power in stead of an array of expensive power tools...

Great to see someone using basic hand tools, for those of us who still build things that way! I think ai might do this attaching the long boards first.

Ha, ha. No messin'. Who needs power tools when they've got a good pair of hands and ten working fingers! Just rip those compost bags open with your teeth lad. Who needs a blade? Liked the vid. No BS. What you see is what you get. Well done buddy.

Love the deck planters. What were the measurements of the deck board planter you made please? I’m hoping to make the same, just need to buy the deck boards.

hard work using hand tools. gave after my first planter it knackered me that much. by the way have you thought about using a plastic liner in those beds it will make them last much longer.

Brilliant Video! Very well done. Subscribing with Notification NOW. I actually have decking boards which I am going to be using to make raised beds TOMORROW. Will use this simple/easy idea. Only difference? I have shit load of power tools, Miter Saw, Circular Saw, Power Drill, Clamps, Saw Horse etc. /Cheers.
