  • One of the reasons for the technical issues before going live was due to the NZ shooting. All 'live' platforms have now changed their start up protocols. This is the stream as it was recorded looking at both these packs closely and discussing the features. Sadly the chat room conversation seems to have disappeared which is annoying.

The front harness pockets on the trailblazer are great for the rubber tips of your walking poles, especially if you're changing from road to mud a lot. Also a micro towel and my keys go in there on my 24l. Although the pockets on the 44l look a lot bigger and you probably don't need easy access to your car keys on a weekend trip like you do on a day hike. It is lovely having them in the front of the day pack when you get back to the car just as it starts pissing down with rain though 😂

Good video, thanks for leaving it up. I’ve just got the halogen 33ltr, it’s my first montane pack… I’m quite surprised at the lack of videos on the unique features such as the ‘quick release’ chest strap and the tool attachment points… it’s not immediately obvious how to attach walking poles using this system and the chest strap feels alien… I’m all for innovation but would like some guidance when something comes to market that is completely different to what went before…

I missed the live stream due to other commitments, so grateful to watch it back. I think once you get the process "dialled in" as it were, it will be a great feature to be involved with. Cheers all.

27.55: THANK YOU SO MUCH. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ALL OVER THE FREKING INTERNET TO FIND THIS! I was wondering whether it could hold a sleeping mat somewhere, cuz there are no loops underneath the pack like with many other packs. THANK YOOU!!!

    Nice presentation!
I was wondering whether the 44L could be, with the help of synching and the roll-top-closure, reduced in size such that it is used as a 'day-pack'?
I am on the edge between the 30 and the 44L, for possible multi-use cases with the 44L.

Thank you very much for this review, it helped a lot to be able to see the bag from up close! You mention a velcro to attach a hydration bladder but is there an actual sleeve to store the bladder in and protect its integrity? I can't seem to find a definite answer on this...

Yes there is a full width hydration slot in the Trailblazer for the bladder to go into.

@@TheOutdoorsStation Many many thanks for the lightning-quick reply (on a two year-old video as well!).

Great video - Sorry a bit late, did I miss it or is there a waterproof cover for the two packs? Just wondering about that position of hte compression straps on the Halogen 45 - it takes the force off the seam but puts in on the zip, seems a little bit to ask over time, a year in has anyone had any problems? I have a small 20L (or so sorry if this isn't completely accurate) montane pack that I've used daily for about 10 years (i think) expected it to fall apart but bought it on the basis it would be semi disposable - it's still going strong...

We've not had any negative feedback related to your comments re the zip etc. This range of packs are considerably stronger than a lot of people expect. The bottom line is you don't buy a 'lightweight pack' and expect it to perform when treated the same as a heavy duty 'cordura' type pack. There is a certain natural respect for your gear which will make it last long and keep performing. We are using gear 15 years old that still performs just as well as the day it was first used.

Really enjoyed the video, I have a question about which Traiblazer to get: 30 or 44 litres. I want to use it for running but also hiking, so would you say 30l is enough for “lightweight” hiking? Is the 44l too big for running? If not I might get it as its ideal for hiking. I’d really appreciate your help.

Moustapha Baya You can synch the 44 down to compress the contents but not expand the 33 for camping, so I suggest the 44 and at least you’ll know it is good for both tasks. There’s a few running videos with the Trailblazer and they seem very happy with it.

Hi Bob, With the Trailblaizer 44 hydration system, what maximum size of bladder could you use?
