    love how you guys made that full kicker set for a tacoma plug and play i’m actually about to buy it a 2023 Tacoma or 24 but when I was looking it up the other day they said 24s don’t come in a six cylinder that’s why I may be getting the 2023 One I was younger I’ve always had an alpine and kicker everybody had aftermarket systems so every vehicle I found I’m head in more than one system for change things around this is how it was back in the late 90s early 2000s👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    I installed these speakers like a week ago, if you have a stock head unit the only place you will get sound from are the tweeters, and you will lose base, in order for these speakers to be used to there full potential, either upgrade the head use, or get a amp for them, i went with the amp route since I like having my stock head unit. Once upgraded they sound great!

    I might add with the goal being better audio quality, and going through the trouble of pulling off the door panels, it'd be worth it to a lot of people to go ahead and slap in some sound dampening material into the doors. Low notes produce a lot of vibratory noise and a few rattles in the tacoma's doors, or at least mine. At bare minimum I'd add some around the opening for the speaker before installing on the door so it's not simply plastic butted against metal. I'd be saddened to have better sounding music only to be accompanied by rattles.

    I'm currently waiting on my Sony 4000 Build, bought these same Kickers about two years ago. Wish you had done this video then, as what you just did with the back speakers explains why I couldn't get mine to fit. At the time, found smaller screws and used them, chucking the kickers ones as stated, as they were too long. Nice video, can't wait to see how the Sony's sound. Disapointed to see how cheap the JBLs were. Glad I didn't pay extra for them upfront.

    Honest review.
    I have a 2022 Tacoma.
    Mine came with the factory upgraded JBL speakers.
    I installed this kit.
    Yes, it's easy to do the only challenge is removing the panels to get to the speakers BUT the guide is great.
    As far as speaker quality I can say I noticed nearly no difference in volume. The volume output on my stock head unit with no Sub is still fairly similar.
    I honestly don't sense a huge difference.
    Hopefully, when I install a subwoofer and amp, I'll be able to tell.
    If I could do something different, I'd start with the sub and Amp first to see if this kit is necessary

    • @TrailGridPro
      @TrailGridPro  Місяць тому +1

      We appreciate the honest review! You're absolutely correct. Speakers alone will not increase volume. A speaker is only as good as its source, and these speakers powered by an otherwise factory sound system are not being used to their full potential.

      Stock car sound systems are made of cheap low impedance speakers.. that way car manufacturers don't have to produce a powerful head unit, and or install an amplifier in the car... their goal is to save money.
      However, if your car comes with 2-ohm speakers and you put 4-ohm speakers.. you are reducing the power output of your head unit in half thus reducing the power that gets to the speaker.
      The proper way to install aftermarket speakers is to install an amplifier to run them. That way you are sure to feed the power they need.
      Simply exchanging the speakers will improve the sound quality a little bit, but it will sound lower and you won't be taking advantage of the capabilities of the speakers.

      Hey! I actually bought this exact same speaker set up for my tacoma before this video even came out- its an access cab too- the head unit has enough power to work all these speakers for sure but its not worth upgrading your rear access door speakers at all if you’re not upgrading the head unit, after reading some forums the stock stereo sends minimal power to the access cab doors and sends more power to the doors and dash speakers. The door speakers produce almost no sound and are very VERY quiet- try sliding the directional sound all the way to the rear seats and you’ll see what i mean.
      Tldr if you’re looking at an access cab just get the dash and the doors the rear speakers are fine the way they are.

      What sub did you go with ? I kind of started the opposite way and have the jl audio stealthbox w/ jl xd 300 amp.
      I’m contemplating getting the kicker package to complete it. The bass is definitely an improvement just want more mid range and fuller.
      I too have JBL factory system.
      One thing to note is IF you go the JL route you have to order a replacement rear cargo piece to omit where the 8in sub was. I didn’t realize and had to go ahead and get it lol. Overall happy tho.

      Here's my take...as a person just starting out in the whole vehicle audio scene, it can get really really confusing with so many options out there! The biggest issues that many new beginners face are "INCOMPATIBILITY". Most of us can see the 6.5, 6X9 but each brand and model are so different that they don't always fit in nor are they just plug and play as the user would hope. Now this is just the start of the problem, from finding the correct harness, tools and sometimes even a necessity of a change on the whole entire audio wires just because the user decided to go from stock OEM to much more than just a plug and play realizing that the OEM unit isn't sufficient in powering the new audio system to take advantage of the new speakers installed. With that said, having a "KIT" takes the homework out of the equation and anyone who is serious about not just throwing in some nonsense but a practical kit that is proven from other Tacoma owners is a no brainer. I have two Tacoma...a 2000 and a 2019 Tacoma. My 2000 Tacoma was done professionally by an Audio specialist and the whole system including installation cost me roughly around $2150. An Alpine deck w/ "Type S" system component front and 2 way back with a shallow Type R shallow sub and two amps. Yeah... Installations aren't cheap because I obviously don't know wtf I am doing. How did the end result sound? Damn loud, damn clear! I love it! Good product and excellent service are not cheap and warranty gets extended in my case when done officially. My sub was a defect after 2 weeks of use, drove back to the audio dealer and they literally took out the sub and replaced it the same day without hassling me through the paperwork and return repair and etc. in my case, I have no regrets. Having a good sound system is such an awesome feeling it really is hard to describe the difference other than wow...I didn't realize I was missing out that much. Again, not everyone is audio savvy and if a company has already done the homework then yes the premium price justifies the kit. I'm planning on upgrading my 2019 Tacoma soon so I'm somewhat intrigued by this "kicker" kit that everyone seems to be fussing about. My original plan was to do an OEM to a JL C2 system upgrade with either a JL stealth or custom shallow Jl 12W3v3 and a 5 channel amp or two if needed and maybe even an audio signal upgrade because I want to keep the head unit plain as simple so I don't get my truck broken into. Of course I would do an entire four door deadening since there is a kit already for the Tacoma's door.

    • @TrailGridPro
      @TrailGridPro  9 місяців тому +1

      You'll definitely have sound! I think what they're referencing is the "loudness" is a product of the amount of power thrown at speakers from the power source the sound is coming from. So, if you're going to pair these speakers with your factory head unit, while you'll experience an improvement in sound quality you can't expect a "louder" system because the power source (your factory head unit) is still pushing the same power to your new speakers as it was with the factory speakers. An amp, would provide a louder experience because all of a sudden you have a ton more power being thrown at the speakers. A new head unit from us would provide an improved audio experience along with a louder experience because our head unit bundles have a better audio signal and more power than the factory head unit. Hopefully that helps!
