I built something very similar. I built a 2020 kx250af with a 2003 kx250 motor. Varner racing did the motor to running off of mrx02 fuel. Built a bunch of very custom parts. Back in 2021 I contacted ping to cover the build and he said nobody would be interested..... I would love to get some info on what they did to build the top engine to spar mounts and the exhaust bracket mount.
Skip the big-bore kit, I use the Super X carb by STIC SuperTorque. My 200SX runs like a ported +20cc big-bore. I'm about to tune one for my buddies '91 KX250.
That is the sweetest Kawasaki 2 Stroke l have ever seen. Jetted perfect for Glen Helen. A tad fuel rich, which gives it more torque and pull for the hills there. 😊

I had a 310 KX and it signed off quick up top. But the low to mid power was incredibly tractable. 3rd gear starts and lots of holeshots! Too bad I wasn't as good as the bike.
@@Rubeless I won some B class races but I faded by the end too many times. Working full time @55-60 hours a week and having a family I didn't get much time to practice anymore. So yeah I wasn't that good compared to the top guy's.
@72timhall Do u have a DTX suspension setup? Your question is a tough one because dirt track really works best with a smooth power delivery and not having a hit on the bottom. Especially with short tracks where you are accelerating leaned over. I could see it being a handful on a dry track personally. Ideally you want your peak power on top and when you go bigger with the stroke and bore you lose that top end over rev dramatically.

Taking those ODI grips off will fix your throttle problem. They hang up and stick in the housing bc the plastic flash isn’t cleaned up/the molds are super inconsistent. If you have a KTM, they’re fine bc they come with them. But please for your safety guys run traditional glue on grips with a good throttle tube like the motion pro Titan.
So is it a 250f frame or a 450f ? You said 250 but it also says 450. Intrested as ive a 250f and was going to do same but unsure if the 250 2t will fit

That year plastics were peak for kawi. They came out looking so good every time. Now they look beyond generic! Love how they handle but god are the 23-24 graphics bland

I believe all manufactures need to start producing 2 stroke 125cc and 250cc dirtbikes for motocross and supercross racing. The manufactures put the research and development effort back into two strokes and the AMA starts to bring the original 125/250 class back into the mainstream. The racing would be better and the skill would come into play more than the machine itself. Maybe I'm just a old head but I truly believe in my heart that the golden age of motocross and supercross was the late 90's early 2000's with two strokes only no four strokes no electric bullshit just pre mix and a set of hairy balls. I just want to see all the competitors that make the mains nowdays on 2 strokes and watch the raing improve because its not as good as it once was....I can dream cant I ....
Where does this motor develop the most ponies?... 6K... 8K... 10K... any pony numbers?... how much does it weigh?... all the most important Qs weren't answered... :/

I sell 500s too,why do you suppose they arnt allowed to compete heads uo in pro racing? ;) And before you say homologation, thats not the reason,my 500AF bikes have been homologated prior ,and they still wernt allowed in the AMA motocross nationals ;)
250 big bores suck. always have, always will. it's the wrong stroke ratio. it just moves all the power down low. this is how you take an exciting powerband and make it boring. they also vibrate a ton. this is well know stuff, I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before about 250 big bores, but it's just amazing how many dipshits in the comments think this is something special or even desirable. I'd take 250 over a big bore everyday, all day...moto, off-road, desert... don't matter.
History lesson for you youngness 1997 Kawasaki came out with a new engine for there KX 250 WHY WOULD YOU CHOOSE A 1996 ?
