I have been in the sport for 40 years now and, in my opinion, the ideal sized MX or even off-road bikes would be a 200cc 2-stroke or a 300cc 4-stroke. Of course one could say a 450 is faster, for sure , but the sizes I like would be so good for the biggest percentage of riders out there.
And at least a 2.2 - 2.5 gallon tank for those of us in the western United States (Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Idaho and Colorado. There are even still places in the California desert) that can still put in 80 plus miles of trail in one ride.

I have mentioned before that Red Moto Honda might just have shown the Japanese brands the way for a mid-size engine (300-400 cc two or four stroke) without a lot of fuss over development. For the 300 four stroke, up the bore of the 250 as Kawasaki has done for the European market and upgrade the ECU to handle the bore increase. For a 400 four stroke down the bore of the 450 as Red Moto Honda did to a 413cc. The bore and stroke of the Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki 450s are the same, so it will work for all three. Yamaha has a different bore and stroke, but if you down the bore the same amount as the Redmoto Honda, you get a 404cc engine that is very similar in bore and stroke to the first YZ400F. The YZ 250(x) two stroke, just add a YZ 300 (x) [or even a 320/325], and there you go.

Kawasaki Japan did nothing else than building the KX250X. The 300X is the development and offering of the Italian distributor and possibly its European counterparts.
Bought a 350 KTM few months back and never buying any other CC bikes again. It is closer to a 450 on power than its compared to 250 but the engine characteristics are like in a 250. I wish japanese will catch up and start producing 350s.
Ah I was thinking it was a 300 2 stroke haha but still a good Change as you said. I’ve just rebuilt my Kx250 with a Kdx 200 motor such a great combo but not one for the purists out there 😂
@ Oh bum deal. Motorcycle dealers on the east coast have titled bikes for those that have headlights which includes must enduro models. California surely has a bad wrap due to political control of the people, and the environmental overreach.
If only more OEM's could find their balls and the will to build street legal versions of their 450 Motocrossers, "that would be great". Asking for a street legal 2 stroke it's probably fantasy but oh what the hell, BRING BACK THE 2 STROKES !
Since 350s are doing so well in the world enduro series ,and as u said 350 is the biggest seller in USA even in Australia its moved towards 350s more and more ,why would the Japanese not jump on board straight away with 350s . 300s are like a hotted up 250 where 350 are very different animal again .
Teamed up with Athena? Seems like this bike does NOT have the KLX 300 engine. I'm interested, but like others have said....WHERES THE NEW KDX 2-Stroke? The trend is back and firmly in place, Kawasaki! Hard Enduro and Enduro are more popular than ever in the US....Where's our KDX??? I MAY buy this KX 300X, but I definitely would buy a KDX, 200 or 300.
If kawi brings the 300 to the us they will definitely have 2 bikes sold just from me. I know for a fact I would buy one for myself to race the nyoa off road series on and pretty sure my son would want one as well being he is on a 250f now and a 450 is still too much for him
I think you live in a bit of a West Coast bubble. Most of the off-road world doesn't want fuel injected flame out four strokes with close ratio boxes. Even the ktm 350 enduros don't sell that well in Australia for regular enduro and definitely not for hard enduro. It's mostly DRz guys buying them.
I’m sorry I cant share your excitement for this bike. It’s just a big bore kit. Just like the old husky 310. It was good but nowhere near a KTM 350. I’d love to see the Japanese build a real mid size bike ie: crank, crankcase, rod, piston and cylinder. Personally I’d love to see something in the 370cc to 390cc range but thats just me.
Is (1) the KX300X rolling off the assembly line in the factory in Japan and then being imported to Europe, or (2) is a KX250X taken from the Japan factory, imported to Europe, and then the European importer adds a big bore kit along with other parts to make a KX300X? If the second is the case, this is nothing new. If the first is the case, that's news.

Yamaha has always been the best Japanese bikes I had 4 Yamaha DT125R s an a YZ 250 , had all the others DTR was the best
Sherco, beta, and ktm haven't traditionally been moto oriented manufacturers. Tradition stands true for each of these brands.
When I saw Kawasaki 300, I was thinking , about time they bring a 2-stroke, nope , bugger. Bring back the 500 2-stroke
Peckerwoods did for the KX 500 some prick put a cam in it they were passing it otf as a smoker.
Wonder how an RD 350 twin 6 sp would do in a modern frame Cassie's
Is it true that honda is bringing back the honda xl line. If so I will definitely buy one.
I havent heard anything about it
A Japanese 350 4-stroke would be nice.
Make it a 350.
Put a 6 speed in it...with 6th being an overdrive gear...and watch the dual sporters eat them up!!
The 6 speed KTMs are good...I have one...but...I'm friggin telling you....everyone wishes for an overdrive 6th.
Whoever does that first, will own the market!!!
Guaranteed!!!
Kawasaki Japan did nothing else than building the KX250X. The 300X is the development and offering of the Italian distributor and possibly its European counterparts.
Why not an USA option?
Tnere is talk of the YZF 350 in development now (2024) . With KTM in financial trouble, is it finally time for the Japanese to dominate again?
I would like to see them make a 300 2 stroke to compete with KTM and the European bikes
Its still a 4 stroke….
Bought a 350 KTM few months back and never buying any other CC bikes again. It is closer to a 450 on power than its compared to 250 but the engine characteristics are like in a 250. I wish japanese will catch up and start producing 350s.
exactly!
Give us THAT bike with NHTSA decal and turn signals
Not thinking we will see this bike in the u.s tho
We need 200, 250 and 300 2 stroke Japanese enduro bikes...!!!
Doesn't the current KX450 already run like a XR200? lol
You are mean 😢
KLX 300 has been around for 20+ years, nothing new about that, it has just been updated.
Ah I was thinking it was a 300 2 stroke haha but still a good Change as you said.
I’ve just rebuilt my Kx250 with a Kdx 200 motor such a great combo but not one for the purists out there 😂
Ya the Japanese are looking at how well KTM is doing in bankruptcy court.
More people should be buying sherco's
300 is not enough. But it's nice see them, at the very least, try.
yea, its a step in a right direction but I think it would feel pretty good on trails
I will have to check one out at a local dealer. If it comes with a Certificate of Origin rather than a Title it won’t sell.
in CA nothing gets a title unless a street legal bike, at least thats the rule now
@ Oh bum deal.
No expansion chamber, pass
Teamed up with Athena? Seems like this bike does NOT have the KLX 300 engine. I'm interested, but like others have said....WHERES THE NEW KDX 2-Stroke? The trend is back and firmly in place, Kawasaki! Hard Enduro and Enduro are more popular than ever in the US....Where's our KDX??? I MAY buy this KX 300X, but I definitely would buy a KDX, 200 or 300.
If kawi brings the 300 to the us they will definitely have 2 bikes sold just from me. I know for a fact I would buy one for myself to race the nyoa off road series on and pretty sure my son would want one as well being he is on a 250f now and a 450 is still too much for him
Exactly 👍
Greetings from Silesia 😊
Hello there!
Greeting from hawaii
Kawasaki and other Japanese bikes will take over KTM market share.
Don’t see it on Kawai site ? Unless this is just chatter talks ? Not confirmed ?
here you go, its a EU thing for now: www.kawasaki.eu/en/EICMA/KX300X.html
I think you live in a bit of a West Coast bubble. Most of the off-road world doesn't want fuel injected flame out four strokes with close ratio boxes. Even the ktm 350 enduros don't sell that well in Australia for regular enduro and definitely not for hard enduro. It's mostly DRz guys buying them.
YZ300x e start please.
Where are the 2-STROKES !!!!!!!!! ???????
Guess i will be on the 220 another year ......
If the first is the case, that's news.
this is on Kawasaki official website: www.kawasaki.eu/en/EICMA/KX300X.html
It's #2. Probably won't be seen in the US.
@@dirtniron if it's on their website, I would assume they're building them like that in Japan. Good news.
Radu are you Romanian?
Kdx 200 two-Stroke.
It'll be a 300 then about 325 and finally become a 350.
beta and tm do it aswell
Need Yamaha WR350R!!!
Yamaha 326. 😂🙃😉
yep I really like these bikes these are mine kind of bikes but there's only one thing that is wrong it should be 600cc.
I have no interest on this.
