It's very possible the metal was put into your tire by the man outside your van, he likely was hoping you'd not be able to leave or was going to follow you and approach you when you got out to check it. Be on alert until you clear your van of a tracker they can be very small. Look up info on it. Please consider getting some bear spray and staying in areas that have cell service only. I was so very scared for you but so glad youre okay if this happens again leave immediately. Always trust your instincts and your dog barking it's better to be safe and over cautious. Please ask your father to help you look your van over if possible. ❤

For flat tires, I carry a 12v portable tire inflator that plugs into the cigarette lighter and is about the size of a book. Then I also carry a can of Flat Fix, a spray that lines the inside of the tire and seals the leak until you can get someplace to fix it. Finally, because I am paranoid (from experience) about being stuck in the middle of nowhere, I haul around 2 spare tires. Being in the United States, I really enjoy seeing your vanlife views of Europe.

I know it’s not the US. Also, as far as your tire is concerned, there is a product called “fix a flat”. It comes in an aerosol can and it’s a temporary fix. Both might come in handy next time. Hi Ame👋. For emergencies, you should get hold of a tin of tyre weld! It inflates your tyre and you can drive on it for a hundred miles. In my experience almost every creepy, threatening or aggressive experience when in a campervan involves men. Why some should have such a need to bother and harass people, especially at night, is strange and dysfunctional. As a retired older man, I too get bothered or made to feel uncomfortable and find it difficult to determine their intentions. Keep safe. You did the right thing in moving on. You may want to consider installing a caution beacon light strobe. I put one on my van it is extremely bright! Any creepy person outside will flee if you flip it on. Of course it looks like a maintenance van with the beacon on your roof. My video is called “Stealth Camper Van: Can a caution Beacon light save your life?”
I have heard more than enough stories of people stalking van-lifers. I'm convinced that one must have exterior cameras, motion-sensors when camped out, etc.

It's probably been suggested already, but, you should get a small tire pump that plugs in to the cigarrette/power socket or even hooks to the battery with clamps. They are VERY handy when you are away from air stations and don't want to put the spare tire on. Of course when you check all your tires you should also check air pressure in the spare, you know, in case a metal object or anything destroys a tire you can put the spare on. 😁
Great advice. I always have a pressure guage in the glove compartment and check my pressure every so often. Spare tires can go flat without you realizing it until you need them. It's a small thing that prevents a bigger headache down the road. In the US we have AAA, not sure if they have it in Europe, but being a member of an auto club wouldn't hurt in case your stranded with a flat or any car trouble.

Inside the door frame either passenger or drivers side there should be a white stickers that tells you what air pressure to put in your tyes it's normally a slight difference from the front and back. Hope this helps you in future 👍🏻
You need to find a drop off laundry place where they do everything for you. That's the ticket. 😊 And this was a really fun video btw. One of your best in awhile to me anyway. I love the ones where you get up to stuff & go into the cities more. You really shine in these moments.
I will recommend to have some preventive maintenance kit store in van if you a long distance traveler. - Foot pump, 1l of appropriate oil for top ups , small bottle of brake fluid and concentrated coolant , light bulb kit , flashlight with magnet, puncture repair spray, yellow waist and some thin work gloves . - All of that may save you from breking down and being stranded far away from nearest service station. Its good to train yourself about how to check oil level, tyre pressure and general layout under your van bonnet (and do it in regular intervals) . Just having right tyre pressure will give you better milage , longer tyre life ,not mentioning safety aspect.

You definitely need to have some floodlights mounted around the van and get some van CCTV so you can see what's going on outside in case of situation like this/emergency, hit a switch light the place up and be able to see what's going on from the safety of inside the van and have it on camera aswell.. being a woman on your own I'd say this would be especially wise! Lights to be fair don't do much when people can slash your tyres and box you in ...ame is taking way too many risks even streetwise city gals won't take Parking in remote forests. Driving around these remote random places outside of the city, way way too risky. Not worth it for money on views on here ..she needs to re think the stuff she's doing as it's well known facts single women are much higher at risk than man van lifers It's common sense ...I think she's rested on laurels abit and acts shocked when these things happen. I agree I feel a little uncomfortable with some of the risks Ame takes, bit I wouldn't go as far as to say everything she does, it's just the odd thing makes me uncomfortable for her, like yeah remote forest situations alone are too dodgy for me, I wouldn't do that as a man who's fairly handy and able to protect myself. We just got back from our roadtrip where we went around the north of Spain and south of France. We used Park4Night to find places to sleep, and normally went for ones in nature because i was shit scared of parking in the centre and having the same experience as you did. Stay safe

I saw another solo female vanlifer show her #1 item, it’s a battery operated motion detector that comes with a magnet so she can put it anywhere on the outside of her van. So, if you’re somewhere you feel a little leery of, this sounds like a good first level of defense. Stay safe out there, lady!
I don't think a lot of guys understand until they have a steady relationship how insecure pretty women are when they are on their own. The stories my wife told me about creepy experiences with certain men gave me a new respect for that. I mean some of these encounters are pretty unnerving. I suggest vanlife women keep a CB radio for emergencies, they tend to bring truckers or RVers immediately. The cops will come later, sometimes much later. Oh, and a can of bear spray can work wonders.

Ame, tire pressure is important, it affects ride comfort and gas mileage. The recommended pressures are usually listed on a panel in the drivers side door, or in the manual. Best to check and adjust monthly as pressures rise and fall with the ambient temperature. Get a tire gauge and check monthly. Rotate every 5K! Learn how to apply a a spare tire. Happy travels!

My goodness, so sorry you had to deal with so many el creepos. Scary thing is they're all over the world, but you handled it fine. Maybe get yourself a baseball bat, pepper spray, or one of those air horns in a can that make a loud noise to scare off intruders. Loud enough it will make them run or ar least draw attention to the situation. So nice how Gigi barked to alert and protect you during that incident. She's a good watch dog. It's so sweet how Gigi lays on your arm and snuggles around your neck. One thing for sure, your van life is never dull, and it always keeps you on your toes. I am giving serious thought to converting my own.....but it really is a commitment and I just don't think I can split my focus at the moment from present goals I have......hmmm. Old trick i used as a chef. put a little oil in pan then some salt ,wipe out with kitchen or toilet paper. the salt soaks up the burnt oil, and then new oil to coat. helps with none stick, and hot oil kills every thing. water causes anything to stick :) xx
I've lived in Spain. While I've met some amazing, awesome people, I've also met some of the creepiest people of my entire life. And I'm 6'3", 220lbs. Never got robbed or assaulted but I knew a lot of people who did, and a lot of tourists. Stay vigilant

That is a good idea. Better to pump up a tire temporarily until you can get to a shop than to end up driving on the rim and destroying it.

I agree I feel a little uncomfortable with some of the risks Ame takes, bit I wouldn't go as far as to say everything she does, it's just the odd thing makes me uncomfortable for her, like yeah remote forest situations alone are too dodgy for me, I wouldn't do that as a man who's fairly handy and able to protect myself. The world now is not safe as it once was especially in the west with so many illegal immigrant criminals unchecked roaming around Europe and the UK enticed by adverts of young skimpy clad women who drink and are there for the taking (as is being posted by ILLEGALS on TikTok!) These creeps are the reason why I worry about you sometimes. The trouble with UA-cam is it makes you into a sort of celebrity and increases your chances of getting stalked. I think a good idea is to regularly check your van for tracking devices. Stay safe. I'd hate to hear of anything bad happening to you.

We just got back from our roadtrip where we went around the north of Spain and south of France. We used Park4Night to find places to sleep, and normally went for ones in nature because i was shit scared of parking in the centre and having the same experience as you did. Stay safe
get a pressure gauge and an emergency air pump. Check your tire PSI every 3-4 months. 2 times a year minimum. Once before summer and once in winter.

i recently watch youre video on how you built gloria man you have some skills girl there is no doubt in my mind you could build a house what i dont under stand is you can get a flat tire any where why dont you have a spare tire or a tire plug kit or a 12 volt air compressor or tire pressure gauge all should be part of van supplies and not that hard to do

I saw another solo female vanlifer show her #1 item, it’s a battery operated motion detector that comes with a magnet so she can put it anywhere on the outside of her van. So, if you’re somewhere you feel a little leery of, this sounds like a good first level of defense. Stay safe out there, lady!

On the driver side door casing, there is a tag that shows the front and rear tire pressure cold
I don't think a lot of guys understand until they have a steady relationship how insecure pretty women are when they are on their own. The stories my wife told me about creepy experiences with certain men gave me a new respect for that. I mean some of these encounters are pretty unnerving. I suggest vanlife women keep a CB radio for emergencies, they tend to bring truckers or RVers immediately. The cops will come later, sometimes much later. Oh, and a can of bear spray can work wonders.
Would be a good idea to put the window covers on all the windows before turning on the light :), so creepy people can't see in.

Ame, tire pressure is important, it affects ride comfort and gas mileage. The recommended pressures are usually listed on a panel in the drivers side door, or in the manual. Best to check and adjust monthly as pressures rise and fall with the ambient temperature. Get a tire gauge and check monthly. Rotate every 5K! Learn how to apply a a spare tire. Happy travels!
Or read the spec off the side wall of the tyre and google the pressure needed.
Get yaself a tyre inflator and learn how to use it, they really are simple, if ya dads in france with ya get him to upgrade security for ya 👍

My goodness, so sorry you had to deal with so many el creepos. Scary thing is they're all over the world, but you handled it fine. Maybe get yourself a baseball bat, pepper spray, or one of those air horns in a can that make a loud noise to scare off intruders. Loud enough it will make them run or ar least draw attention to the situation. So nice how Gigi barked to alert and protect you during that incident. She's a good watch dog. It's so sweet how Gigi lays on your arm and snuggles around your neck. One thing for sure, your van life is never dull, and it always keeps you on your toes. Life always gives fun chores, and we never can escape them completely. It's what keeps us going, and in survival mode. Old trick i used as a chef. put a little oil in pan then some salt ,wipe out with kitchen or toilet paper. the salt soaks up the burnt oil, and then new oil to coat. helps with none stick, and hot oil kills every thing. water causes anything to stick :) xx
Get some bear spray for protection. One blast of that and the guys will leave you alone.

I've lived in Spain. While I've met some amazing, awesome people, I've also met some of the creepiest people of my entire life. And I'm 6'3", 220lbs. Never got robbed or assaulted but I knew a lot of people who did, and a lot of tourists. Stay vigilant
