"normal, everyday, run of the mill people who see a vision and go 'yolo, imma go fight a demon'" i don't think it's possible to sell a faction harder than that
I really love the grungy aesthetic of the Trench Pilgrims. They're these dirty, grimy and battered soldiers but at the same time they're the heart and soul of the forces of God in this universe. Really paints a picture of the state of the world in-universe without needing to actually explain it in writing. I already have all these ideas for characters in this universe and I just can't wait to see what comes next!
I think I will pick up Trench Pilgrims for all the kitbashing potential. I love the idea of some war band talking the expression my body is a temple literally. They either strap pieces of a church to themselves or the make their armor look like pieces of a cathedral.
I absolutely fucking adore those analysis/in universe lore digression videos. It’s so cool to see the world explored and catalogued to be read by our own eyes and ears. His voice is also very good for it, and I enjoy the clear bias and prejudice in the scrawling tales from both sides, but the actual lack of misrepresentation in the way he reports the lore, it’s sides, and the factions of the conflicts within. Still remember watching the first video for the forces of hell after binging the church forces’ videos and reels and hearing “the god tyrant Yahweh” The narrations of the gameplay and recaps are also some of the best audiobook tier things I’ve listened to. Love those battles for Crete, love the personification and the mindset of the warriors of god and their mud stained wet boots, and the forces of Satan’s dominion all in that same trench (and all weirded out by the Chorister, to varying degrees)
@@scannerbarkly They’re objectively hilarious, dangerous guns. They have like 8 foot long barrels and the shot it fires is not any bigger. About a pound of black powder to two pounds of birdshot is the ration. The recoil is so bad they were mounted to boats. A buff trench pilgrim carrying this around like a knock off ant-material rifle is a great image.
I just pledged of the kickstarter and chose Trench Pilgrims as my war band, just for the looks of them, love the helmets and the icons fastened to their characters! Going to be so much fun painting them, can’t wait for them and the book to drop next year! Will start reading the rules more in depth now as well. Thanks for making all these videos!
I liked the look of their armor and the anchorite sold it for me. Also seemed to have a bit more freedom in terms of story, so get to have some fun painting it
Well this is a good sleeping video. When you've released all of the faction videos you should combine them all into 1 massive video. It would get a million views just from me sleeping! It may take 2,739.7 years but I'll get it there.
I fully expected to be a Heretic Player, but my friends and I put together a Sacred Affliction Trench Pilgrim list for my first campaign in a sort of adopt a soldier program, and even though I'm 0-3 so far, I have been having a great time playing the 707th Procession of St. George and Christ our LORD. I'm really intrigued as to what other potential sub-factions we'll be seeing from them.
This has my HYPED, damn it! I wasn't thinking to play this faction until the video tbh. Trench Pilgrims sound like a lot fun, I love it. Keep these videos coming too! Love the game play/gestalt picture of factions idea. :) Would also be cool to do some videos for kit bashing suggestions on different units etc!
Love this series - definitely thinking about starting with Trench Pilgrims, but honestly I’m going to back everything because TC is ticking all the boxes. The 29th can’t get here soon enough!
For anyone coming in, Procession of the Sacred Affliction is *very* good. Alongside Court of the Seven-Headed Serpent and the high-power Witch n' Wolf Heretic Legion lists, it's a cornerstone of the current meta
Could you do a video on what the world nations are comprised of? I dont know if there is an official world map but Ive seen speculative ones. It would be an interesting topic to discuss the world outside of the battlefront of christ vs the devil
The official world map is still being worked on. I actually don't want to really shape what the rest of the world is like until we have more info from Mike and Tuomas on what their vision is. I'm very happy to fill in blanks on small stuff with fanfic, but that feels like something we should let them hammer down a bit before we look at it. I'm hoping it won't be too much longer to wait for the map. :)
I felt TP was the easiest faction to list build. It felt clear how much should be invested in models, and what the game plan would look like. I've really struggled to find that natural path with Antioch or the Sultanate.
My favorite thing about the fandom so far is several people myself included noticed the Sacred Order of the Dragon in the timeline and were like, “Oh man I have got to do fanworks and rules to get Dracula in the Trenches.” I honestly think Sacred Affliction Trench Pilgrims would not take much work to turn into holy vampires for the lord.
I’m thinking about getting into the game. I really wanted to play the “Crazy” faction. I also thought because they are not regimented I can paint them and customize them however I want.
Personally I want to see a broader range of religious involvement. Demons are an almost universal concept, and with all the different Christian branches, and the inclusion of the Muslim Ottoman Empire, there's a lot of room to work with, and it's not like other religious groups will simply ignore hundreds of years of trench warfare against literal hell. Personally, I wanna see a brutal take on Buddhism. Or Judaism.
I've currently got a trench pilgrim warband, I choose the faction because I heard about trench crusade immediately after I'd finished Blasphemous and I guess that was just the type of shit I was on.
I’m addicted to the Trench Crusade In Universe Lore it’s captured the very essence of Grim Darkness that I absolute love .The Fanatical Religious element is pure madness level in Trench Crusade there’s nothing like it the imagery the attention to detail is quite astonishing! I feel Trench Crusade really has opened a Giant Demonic End of Days abyss against our Kin ! It’s as accurate as they can dare to imagine! Demonic AF ! I love it !
Trench Pilgrims are really fun for me specifically due to the fact that every warband being so unique, they get the chance to bring something extra fun to the table (hehe). It hits especially hard in their variant warbands. Which in a long line of amazing variants, they have some absolute bangers. Cavalcade of the Tenth Plague is just an absolute 11/10.
All the charm of the Imperial Guard (normal man fighting otherworldly horrors beyond his comprehension for a higher cause he zealously believes in) but cooler looking
Peak Humanity would be a Trench Pilgrim mortally wounding Lucifer himself in single combat. Imagine being solo'd by a crackhead screaming Bible verses wielding a switch.
I would love for an army faction that I’ve been thinking about to be created called the penance legion. Essentially it’s large nomadic armies sanctioned by the church that are almost completely made up of former heretics and tortured low level demons, who all seek redemption in the eyes of god, and believe the only way to do so is complete a commandment issued to them by the church, or to just die in combat against their former masters. I think the best way to describe how they would fight on the battlefield is attrition warfare at its greulest. Essentially very low cost units meant to swarm and drown your enemies in bodies.
I'm gonna be playing them. I see them as this fanatical band of losers and misfits who understand what they are, and still take this path. They look great too. Ordered them on the Kickstarter
Thanks for doing this ! I'm really into the lore but its still cut into three big factions in my mind idk of thats the case and if anyone fights everyone like are Christian units fighting against Muslim units ? Or is it more a each fights their own front against hell without interacting that much with eachother situation ?
For what I have read, they have a tactical alliance only due their obvious great common enemy and they don't interfere with each other creeds as a whole. But they are not friends and conflicts may happen when resources are the issue, for instance.
im curious if there will be any other religious sects. orthodox, islamic, budist, gnostic, wicka, egyptian, baptist, pentecostal, confucien etc I would really like a gnostic one, a heretical army that demands gods death but follows the teachings of the lamb for it is the only correct teachings that wisdom has granted mankind. the disciples of Judas Iscariot
