I’ve been gifted about 10 of these and I love these books and really want to find and collect them all. I currently have them stored away but I used to use them a lot. (I’m 17 and when I was about 7 a dude at church gave me my first book of portraits that he’s had for years and I think him or someone used but he said I was young and would get more use out of it. I was so excited and still am {I was really into art and drew every single day is why he gave it to me}) sorry for getting invested in my story lol, back to the video.

color theory is so important! Learning it really helps improve your art. If you don't know proper color theory it becomes a horrible muddy mess! The biggest mistakes people make is mixing cool with warm.
Also I like the lines in the paint splatter. They look like shooting stars.

    • @margaretf667

The old toothbrushes they used also seemed to be flat instead of varying lengths like most modern ones and the one being used. That might make a bit of a difference in addition to them being softer. Maybe with toothbrushes that are flat and with harder bristles it might work better with the cardboard.

Painting over the entire back of your canvas is not recommended. If there is any moisture in the canvas fibers, the dried paint locks it between the two layers, creating favorable conditions for mold to grow. Canvas needs to breathe.
