Architects are definitely one of the flagship bands for metalcore. While She Sleeps is another that I highly recommend! Guilty Party and Anti-social are banging
Architects is a band that regularly challenges the genre and provides fresh perspective, and it's always such a joy to see others feel the influence. And when I then saw David talk about classical music being referred to as "legit" being a racist ethnocentric idea I knew I was in the right place.
I really don't understand why he only has 80.8k subs. Most of these music video reactors are just like Oh my god! Wow! That's so cool! Here we get a genuine reaction, but also an education about music from an orchestral, symphonic, melodic, teaching perspective. You don't see that a lot. As an ex drummer, indoor drumline and marching drumline, I respect the perspective we all get. Share this with your music friends, family, whomever. We need to get him more subs. Absolutely deserves it.
Bring me the horizon did a show at royal Albert hall with an orchestra and it was amazing! Similar concept Edit : completely forgot he's already reacted to one of the royal Albert shows haha 😅 Also there's a band called thornhill shares a few similarities with architects, metal but beautiful melodies. great bands !
I love this version of Animals, adding that orchestral element needs to be done more often by bands like Architects I think! And I love how much you’re vibing as well David 😍
Me again. One more thing: check out Architects - "Dying Is Absolutely Safe" (Live at Middle Farm Studios). Just released a few days ago and it's so beautiful.
I heard you say that you like orchestral instruments in Rock music. So dont hesitate about reacting to starset, cause that's exactly their sound! You're really gonna love it man. Give it a chance!
They are awesome live too, just doesn't come out right when filmed live (probably just my phone lol from when I saw them at Shepherd's Bush London) but defo a great one
@@kyles5425 Agreed! Seen them 4 times in england, following them since they started and they put on a show with their costumes and extra members. If you havent already see if you get a vip at one of their shows, the acoustic sets they play are phenomenal.
I’ve watched the original performance nearly a thousand times as a longtime Architects fan but I enjoy your assessment of bands that I love, like DGD and Architects.
This is such a gorgeous song. So glad to see you checked it out! Spiritbox just dropped a new single, Secret Garden. Definitely think you'd enjoy it, Courtney LaPlante's vocal skills are phenomenal and there's some amazing instrumental work too!
I got chills from this one, just so epic! Having the symphonic instruments bring out the hook just adds such a richness to the overall sound. I also love the intensity on the musicians faces, they aren't messing around!
Love the reaction. Thank you so much! This song is really just something else. Architects have been my favorite band for years & when I heard this, I immediately started getting it on to any device I owned. Love it
this is one of my favourite videos from architects so listening to you breaking it down was really entertaining (and strangely calming, for some reason)
I’m not really into Architects, but this song is just beautiful. The arrangement and the energy it has is just so good! I love orchestral instruments in metal songs too, so I would recommend you to listen to Earthside, a metal band from the US that incorporates a lot of classical influence in their music.
Just discovered your channel with this video. You had a very insightful look at this beautiful version of this amazing song. I subscribed and I'm excited to check out more of your videos!
As a person who doesn’t play but wants to learn, I learn so much from your videos, and it’s made me a fan forever! You’re so informative and make it sound digestible for a simpleton like myself! Lol 👊🏼
Hi when I first heard this version of this song I was so used to listening to the regular version of it and it threw me into a point that I feel in love with this version it with me if anyone is going through something I recommend finding headphones put on and crank up the volume on this song trust me
I love watching you because you go deeper than the song itself here. You spoke about racism and women’s rights within this video. You didn’t do it in a way where other creators will make a “big deal” out of them. You simply stated how it’s a fact and informed your audience about it.
Amazing version of a great song, also love your Elton John - Bennie and the Jets cover. Love the expressions on the orchestra members faces they are loving playing this. So much good stuff to explore on this album please for your self check out more on or off screen. It is an album which rewards listening to end to end with lots of variety from metal core to some beautiful clean tracks
One of the violin players on the session for the Beatle's "A Day In The Life" was the father of actor David McCallum (Man From Uncle, NCIS). He is the person who on another recording session suggested to Jimmy Page that he try using a violin bow on his guitar.
I absolutely love this series, David! Not only do I learn so much about my favorite songs/bands, music in general and even myself! But you radiate so much emotion while doing it! Yesterday you made me cry with the 1x1 reaction, today you put a big smile on my face!
When a song is so metal, they are literally playing a steel girder. 🤘 I have watched this music video about 800 times since I first discovered it a few months ago and it still gives me goosebumps. I'm so bummed this version is not available on Spotify. And yes, that riff on the chorus is the hook from the original. If you aren't familiar with Metallica's S&M performance, do yourself a favor and watch the entire thing. It was one of the first things I ever saw in HD and it's worth the time to watch/listen. Also, I snorted when the MmmBop clip played. Hahahaha! And I'm still waiting for you to discover Starset. Dustin Bates is literally a genius. They tour with a violinist and cellist, and use a ton of electronic samples and effects.
I'm so glad I found this video. As someone who spend 5 years in marching band and always being a lover of architects and the whole music scene... I love that your reactions are the same as mine
It's also insane how the pure Architects version and the orchestra version have totally different ways of expressing the feeling. The orchestra has more dynamics in the chill and fuzzy parts of the song. The Architects version has f***ing brutal brakedowns. I also love Architects because they have such good melodies. Many Rock/Metals songs lack this way too much. But While we Sleeps Anti-Social or Parkway Drive Wild Eyes(Live) are also insane and worth listen into if you didn't already.
I find it interesting to dive into the differences between Rock (as in today's rock music) and Rock and Roll. Those two, even though they are named quite similar, are basically completely different genres.
Thank you Wilhelm Richard Wagner with "Flight of the Valkyries"... but wow, already loved the song since the single. This version was just a "drop the mic" moment.
Great reaction! And well, four days before you uploaded it Architects drop another orchestral version of their new song - "Dying is absolutely safe". It is definietly worth to check out!
Goosebumps! It was so intense with the orchestra. 🤌🏻 Speaking of intense, i hope you would react to Tallah. Their vocalist is really good, versatile and quirky. I think you would like them.
@@MusicShed My eyes are glued to the channel in anticipation. I hope you genuinely loved it, and I hope you're interested in hearing more from them. :D
Architects just put out another Orchestral Version for the song Dying is Absolutely Safe. You would love it! It is smaller scale, has acoustic guitar and lots of space. It is beautiful!
David, new to the channel. I've been playing rock/blues guitar for close to 15 years. Recently was gifted a baby grand piano (I am very beginner to intermediate on the piano). Love the way you can pick up melodies and chords progressions instantly. I can do this on a guitar but definitely not on a piano (I have little to no music theory, learned by ear). I hope one day I can build this ability on the piano half as well as you do. Carry on!
If you enjoyed this I would suggest you check out the band Imminence. They are considered as the "violincore" band because they are very much metal but their vocalist also plays the violin! I think you would like either "Infectious" or "Erased" from their most recent album. Thanks for the video!
This band is so good you definitely need to do more reactions from them. So many great albums. Their new one the released in February is amazing. Dead Butterflies and this song well the original is from the new one. Sam the lead singer Josh on the guitar and Dan on the drums are all amazing
The fusion of styles adds so much more emotion to it for me. I also love that you gave a nod to the women involved! I'd like to leave a suggestion to react to Monster by Dream State who have a female vocalist! 😊
Seeing this has made my day Architects is my all time favorite band and this version is absolutely beautiful You should peep their banger “A Wasted Hymn”
Nightwish is an excellent example of orchestral rock, with 2-3 minute breakdowns that could almost be movie soundtracks mixed with rock elements. Their songs Poet and the Pendulum, Last Ride of the Day, and Ghost Love Score are excellent picks
Check out Quantum Flux by Northlane. They named their band after an older Architects song. I think you’d dig it. One of the metalcore greats (along with Architects) imo
David, you really need to check out "Dying is absolutely safe" by Architects also! They did an orchestral version of this at Abbey Road as well. Not only how good the song is but the lyrics and meaning behind it are just on another level. The song itself is fantasic but the recorded live version just gives it that extra layer to give you those spine tingling chills. Please give it a listen David!
This version is just wow. I'm so glad they decided to make it. Such a contrast from the original yet so good
Not a hugh contrast from songs like dead butterflies
