I have a differing preference, stretchy mono and a moderate or moderate fast rod. We do agree on the rod length though 6’9" is perfect and bait casters for life.
Love all of your videos/channel!!!! Heres another point of view, i like a very parabolic soft tip rod only when slip float/LIVE BAIT fishing for trout (florida east coast) because as you probably know trout have super delicate paper thin mouths and that parabolic tip ensures the hook cannot tear the trouts mouth up enough to create a larger hole and resulting in the trout creating that gap & spitting the hook. I admire your attention to detail!!!
@@southernsalt Do you really go trout fishing with only four lures? lol You might be the only one who doesn't use a few others like a Mirrodine, DOA Shrimp, Johnson Minnow, and a jerkbait like a X-rap or crystal minnow.
suffix 832 10-15 lb is the best. I use it for all kinds of applications for inshore and freshwater. Could not agree more with this video. I use a medium fast 7 foot, but it is on the light side of medium.
I fish a 8ft med fast, 4000 fin nor, 10lb braid, 3 ft 15lb floro and a live croaker butt hooked. Commercial fisherman from east central fl here *I might add that I fish with my drag backed off quite a bit
Nice info - Here in NC I like to use a small top water Also found pink lures work best for me I go with a Storm pink shrimp Lots of action no cork Slow action a popping cork real slow & a pink color MR again in a small size
@@jailenc6674 Years back I went with a guide and learned a lot in a short time. Try creeks and find ledges where the water falls off. Only fish when the tide is moving. And watch a bunch of local videos
Haven’t tried the tko shrimp yet. The popping cork is a great tool to catch fish but it lacks versatility and bigger trout will tend to stay away from it.

I have trouble catching trout with live shrimp, almost always when it grabs the shrimp and I reel it in, all that is left is the head of the shrimp. any advice? maybe my treble hook is too big? would love to see a video of you catching fish using live bait or cut bait.
I’m not much of a live bait guy, I can try to put something together for you though. A lot of times if your fishing and just pulling heads back then it’s not trout. You got to remember that trout and redfish will attack their food with one bite. They won’t nibble at it.
@@southernsalt thank you. This whole time I was under the impression that if the my shrimp came back with only the head, it was trout. lol knowing that I will start using more lures and learn more from your videos. thank you again!!
I do a lot of trout fishing in middle Chesapeake Bay / Rappahannock River..... a lot of success tying jigs and lures mostly direct to braid....however if adding a leader, what length would you recommend....I know length depends on cutting and tying on new bait, but also prefer to keep leader knot out of glides for longer casts.
Question, I'm a beginner fishermen, i see the fishing reels handle are always on the left side. Im right handed and feel more comfortable switching to the right side, is that a bad idea? Also when reeling in with a fish pole i see the eyes are facing up, does that have any advantages? Just asking.

Thanks

But I'm going to try braid on my chronarch after I heard you mention 28 an 31 inch fish!
Man that’s what makes this awesome, it’s really all preference
@@southernsalt check out the falcon swc-67ml if you haven't seen it. Really nice for weightless plastics.
Caught 4 trout tonight up to 23inches on the light braid. I will continue to test it out thanks again.

Great info heading down to Tampa at the end of the month. Cant wait to try out some of the things I've learned on you channel.
Good luck! If you get a chance go to Ozello to fish. It’s one of my favorite places to go for snook. It’s in Crystal River about 1.5 hours from Tampa.

I love the American Tackle Bushido blanks. The rod part number is SJ68/6-10

Good 8 items for trout. What about popping corks ? Have you tries the TKO Shrimp soft plastic baits ?

You should try to use a weedless silver spoon for trout. We use that in Texas alot.

On your reel, use whatever is comfortable to you. As far as your rod, pinning reels eyes go down, bait caster eyes go up.

No MirroLure, Popping Corks, Rapala Shadow Raps, Voodoo Shrimps? All these baits are superior!
Says who lol. It’s all subjective to the angler and their style b
