    • @freewheelburning09
      @freewheelburning09 3 роки тому +12

      That’s actually how Mike Myers developed the voice and some of the characteristics of Dr. Evil, he got it from Dana Carvey’s impression of Lorne Michaels. There is an interview that Dana did on Howard Stern (a clip of it is on UA-cam). IIRC, Dana was being sort of modest about the whole thing, and Howard seems be trying to draw it out of Dana to say that Mike actually stole it from Dana, but Dana doesn’t quite go there. So yeah, fun fact there!

      Cameron Cash Hopkins I think the story is his wife was addicted but recovering. Andy Dick gave her cocaine at a party and she got hooked again. This eventually led to Hartman’s demise. Years later Jon Lovitz who was a good friend of Hartman’s beat the crap out of Andy Dick at a comedy club.

    • @Lynda957
      @Lynda957 4 роки тому

      Cameron Cash Hopkins Cocaine does cause paranoia and hallucinations which can result in violent behavior. However, most people don’t kill their spouse while under the influence. His wife sounded like someone that was unstable. When you add cocaine to the mix I’m sure it made it worse. Not choosing anyone’s side here but Phil Hartman’s. Grew up watching him and it makes me sad that he was taken way too soon in a really tragic way.

    I remember suddenly wondering why Phil was gone in the 5th season of News Radio. I was in love with that sitcom. The first episode of the fifth was the one I downloaded last.
    I finally saw it, and since the show could be very dark and mean, it took a while to realize it was an unusual way of writing someone out of the series, even for this show, especially since I deem it the best ensemble cast I've ever seen. Was Phil not only leaving but so unhappy even he didn't even want to stay for a farewell episode? An eery grimmess took hold of me, did he die in the series because he died? He didn't play a warm guy in the series so why writing such a sad, touching and heartfelt episode? Finding out what happened shocked me. No sadness, just pure shock. I used to bingewatch the show almost daily in a loop for a long, long time, so it fucked up my whole routine, staring at my monitor, my cursor hovering over the file. Could I ever enjoy the series again? A couple of weeks passed like that before I did what had to be done, watch the 1st of the 5th again. To this day, when I have the heart to see it, I cry several times, especially when Bill's card reads to Matthew "I am really dead".
    Acting can be difficult, but what that cast did in the entire 5th is nothing short of other worldly. Apart from Jon Lovitz, who really didn't fit in to put it nicely, they did an amazing job. Especially Andy Dick, because Phil was like a father to him.
    I'd insert a joke here but I can't.
    It is what it is.
    RIP Phil, bless his children, their caretakers being Phil's wife's sister and her husband (I can't imagine how they must have felt), bless the cast and crew who gave him his excellent last years in comedy and I hope someday I can forgive his wife.

I used to quote that line all the time where he walks into the bathroom and Dave says to him something like, feeling adequate Bill, and Bill says "I'm practically bursting with atequatulence". God I miss Phil Hartman
    From News Radio:
    Jimmy James:
    Hold it, Bill. I've heard Penthouse letters that were more plausible than this.
    Bill:
    So have I. But the fact is the woman wanted me, and the fact that she couldn't have me made her insane with what the great poets have called "manimal lust."

    I worked on News Radio in post production. I got to see every frame of film from four cameras for at least three seasons. They shot triple the film that they needed because they wouldn’t stop camera. They’d yell, “back to one!” and did a take over and over. The days I worked on that show were the absolute best.

    This segment was not weird for ME when Joe & Rob were talkin' about what goes on behind the scenes at SNL because I recently read "Wired," the 1984 biography of John Belushi written by Bob Woodward, which explains a lot about the writin' & rehearsal processes durin' the week as well as all the backstabin' & the sexual relationships between cast members & all the drugs & booze that was allowed on the scene in the early days. That book was a very in-depth read into the life & workin' conditions of John.

That dude was the biggest koochie magnet in Hollywood in the 80s and totally got framed for those two girls in 1988 at the Dukakis Democratic convention, and NO ONE in Hollywood stood up for him. Sleeping with 2 17 yr old girls that said they were older when he was all of 23/24 himself. Total BS they made into a huge thing and temporally shut his career down. Watch Bad Influence with Rob and James Spader, 1990/91. Great movie nobody ever talks about. Rob's a good dude and was The Dude!

    I actually really enjoyed listening to that, even if it seems "unrelatable" to some people. I like hearing behind the scenes stories about my favourite shows and movies because I'm fascinated to learn what the creators, actors, crew, etc. experienced on set and how they feel about the content they've made and put out into the world. I don't know, maybe that's just me though lol.
