Fun fact: the reason why the fight scenes between Patrick and Marshal (Dalton & Jimmy) are so good, is because they spoke and agreed that for once, they wanted to give the audience a real fight. All punches/kicks were thrown at 100% and no camera tricks were used to make contact look harder than it was. They were both trained in various disciplines, so they were able to know the parameters for the fight scene and just battle within them. They both suffered serious injuries in order to make one fighting movie where the audience was not cheated. Jimmy’s cut eye and the blood running down his face was real. It was from a high roundhouse kick that split a gash in the skin. The grunt when Jimmy busted the log across Daltons middle, was because that was not scripted, and it broke 2 ribs. They kicked the crap out of each other in order to produce the most authentic fight scenes ever recorded in a major studio film. Both actors were amazing and the level of fighting is why it’s a cult classic. Their sacrifices and dedication to real combat sports escalated a mediocre script to excellence. Roadhouse deservedly earned a permanent part of our popular culture history due to their ethics and commitment.
Hi Joe, I knew Patrick an shared a few beers with Patrick. I met him when I was friends with his Arabian horse mentor Tom McNair who was a good friend of mine, the three of us sat an talked about Patrick making a real movie about the Arabian horse of the desert. I also am a helicopter pilot an eas going to do the flying of my helicopter to make the shots from the air, along with using some of my Arabian hordes in Swayze's movie. Patrick was a real down to earth guy an enjoyed regular people more than the movie guys. It was back when PTrick broke his leg on a escape on horse back on a movie set. Patrick loved dancing as did his Mom an would come up my way to NY to visit. Can't say enough about Patrick being a great an friendy man.
And all this love for roadhouse in the comments but nobody mentions “ coolest dude ever” wade garrett aka Sam Elliot. He caught dalton’s hook with ONE hand!!
Rob Lowe seems like an awesome guy. I’d love to sit at the table and listen to his stories. Swayze was awesome in Point Break and so was Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey and John McGinley. Awesome movie
I just watched Roadhouse again the other day. It's one of those flicks like Diehard and Shawshank Redemption that I have to watch whenever it comes on T.V.
I got to see Patrick Swayze perform "She's Like the Wind" in the late '80s at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the main performer that night was Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Bros.
Rob Lowe has to be the most handsome dude of all time. I remember being a kid and wishing I looked like him. Bastard even aged well too. Ehh, maybe next lifetime.
Patrick swayze best movies in no particular order: Road House The Outsiders Point Break Ghost Red dawn And although not one of my personal favorites but great nonetheless Dirty Dancing
I think pretty much every movie he was in was great. He was a man's man who everyone emulated at one point or another. He was the John Wayne of the late 20th century. Like Robin Williams was to comedy he was to film. The world misses him.
I have been swooning over Rob Lowe since 1985-ish. He played the deaf/mute in "The Stand". I wonder if he has framed "tiger beat" covers in his house, lol.
Patrick still one of my fave guys out there! He was a true star, to me he was like the McCoughnahey of the 80s, kinda. He could dance, sing, fight, do comedies, romance and action movies, and be awesome in it. Love the guy! Wish he could live longer to be in more and greater movies. But he was a star in one of the best eras on pop culture. Sam Elliot and Keanu also being one of my faves, gotta love Roadhouse and Point Break. Patrick made such an amazing duo with both actors. Love the vibe of these movies, along with DD and Ghost. RIP ma guy, u a legend in my book!

What’s funny is Keanu was actually a really good goalie growing up, was gonna play in the OHL but blew out his knee
bmacavilli I guess that’s where the got the idea for Johnny Utah in Point Break?
“[Swayze] would show up to set having not slept and want you to listen to his new demo. He was like.. a lot.” 😂😂😂😂
He was most probably using a bit of Angel dust....
HardPlays Angel Dust? Nah more like coke
I see you just repeated a quote from the podcast. Cool.
Atlantean120 don’t worry: “Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”

My two faves are Roadhouse and Point Break. Patrick was just so likeable it didn't matter what role he played.
Put the TV miniseries North and South on the list! Underrated!
Just saw it for the third time, recently. It, and Patrick are awesome.
Rob Lowe low key hilarious roasting Swayze and Keanue lol
Much appreciated ℹ️☑️,
Authenticity 📈🔺 HiGH .
Awesome story!
And all this love for roadhouse in the comments but nobody mentions “ coolest dude ever” wade garrett aka Sam Elliot. He caught dalton’s hook with ONE hand!!
Looked up the picture with Patrick standing on bricks. It appears Rob was doing it too. Might be why he remembered it so well.
What an incredible JRE Clip, RIP Swayze
I love that Rob Lowe talked about Youngblood. I don't think I've ever heard him talk about it
HORRIBLE???? Road House is a GREAT movie!!! And he's not a bouncer he's the COOLER
Dork
Pain don't hurt.
"I'm on my break."
@@IPlayOneOnT.V. Stay on it.
@@cresporules You're either really dim, or you didn't even see the movie.
Please say, "great movie," one more time.
@Collidiscope 😂😂😂😂
WHAT!
@Collidiscope 😂🤣
ROADHOUSE!
They are both baked.
Rob Lowe seems like an awesome guy. I’d love to sit at the table and listen to his stories. Swayze was awesome in Point Break and so was Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey and John McGinley. Awesome movie
"those 80s lines are so good" what a double meaning there!
Rob has great stories. I swear one of his best roles was in St Elmos Fire. Its short, but his lines and persona nail that.
“I want you to be nice, till it’s time to not be nice”.
@@texresident7026 That f'n rocks
Swayze was an epic actor and a nice guy.
Youngblood and Roadhouse. Two of the best
Patrick Swayze along with Randy Travis and Meat Loaf in Black Dog was a great movie!
Rob Lowe has to be the most handsome dude of all time. I remember being a kid and wishing I looked like him.
Bastard even aged well too. Ehh, maybe next lifetime.
Ian Somerhalder is his doppelganger.
I used to call the ghost in halo swayze. R.i.p you beautiful soul.
He’s not a bouncer. He’s a cooler. And “She’s like the wind” is a great song.
Outsiders is Rob Lowe's best movie ever. Raw acting at its best.
Yeah I was always annoyed at how they cut his scene out at the end of the movie, where him ponyboy and darry are in the park
I live about 2 miles or less from the house where Swayze grew up. Nice home, and it's eerie to walk streets where he once lived.
Patrick swayze best movies in no particular order:
Road House
The Outsiders
Point Break
Ghost
Red dawn
And although not one of my personal favorites but great nonetheless Dirty Dancing
The best movie he was ever in was Donnie Darko but it was a smaller role
"Next of Kin"
Robert Simon I forgot about that one good call 👍🏻
@car. Lot of stars were in that movie, including a young Ben stiller
I think pretty much every movie he was in was great. He was a man's man who everyone emulated at one point or another. He was the John Wayne of the late 20th century. Like Robin Williams was to comedy he was to film. The world misses him.
Joe "he was gorgeous" Rogan
Love ‘Young Blood’. A classic underrated 80’s style guilty pleasure type film. Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves playing junior hockey!
Swayze's life was intense...seems like he was "all in". Sometimes those folks die young.
Youngblood is the most underrated movie of all time. One of my all time favorites still to this day!!
Underated ? It was what it was .
miss Patrick Swayze. love his films!
I remember Swayze in that TV series North and South
'Next of Kin' was a great movie,
in his later days.
- you forgot that guys.
I have been swooning over Rob Lowe since 1985-ish. He played the deaf/mute in "The Stand". I wonder if he has framed "tiger beat" covers in his house, lol.
Never forget this interview....the BTS stories you never would have thought were happening
Swayze was so good, wish there were more stories about him, tragic
Keanu has come a long way but he was a terrible actor back then! Haha
Truth ℹ️☑️
Point Break is a master piece. Patrick & Keane Reeves
Point Break - no question - is Patrick Swayze's magnum opus. Just beautiful. Grew up on that stuff.
Shwayze was the Man. I just Covid watched Point Break before I saw this too. Sad he’s gone. He was an amazing Human.
