If I'm not mistaken he was skeptical about aliens not that long ago and has publicly changed his opinion based on new evidence. That's the kind of scientist I appreciate and will take seriously. While others still hold to their skepticism so as to not face ridicule, this man openly voices his change of perspective and ignores the ridicule because he takes new evidence seriously. He isn't holding back his beliefs for fear of damaging his career, he is a true scientist.

@@lucasgibbs4879 The problem as far as I can tell having looked into the literature on that is Avi Loeb's solution required Oumuamua to be shiny however there is no evidence to support this claim as the observations of spectra all generally showed Oumuamua' s light curves were most consistent with a extremely dark red object. With these independent measurements of red light curve his light ail model doesn't really work. Loeb made the claim that Oumuamua is shiny but there doesn't seem to be any evidence for this claim. If he could present evidence showing Oumamua's light curve was shiny then it would be fine as we could compare these light curves to figure out what is going on but he hasn't which suggests this information doesn't exist as his interpretation doesn't fit the existing data very well. In science if your model doesn't fit the data then its just wrong which should be the end of the story. This is where Loeb runs into problems (though there are some other problems with some of Loeb's arguments but those are more subtle) A lot of these arguments come down to the fine tunability of his light sail model.

29:00 it has to be a shell, with a hollow interior. Because due to time dilation, time will essentially be paused at the very central point of a black hole, right? So then no matter, even during the entire lifetime of the universe, would have had enough "time" to fall into the absolute center. It would all slow down the closer it gets, until it collides and accumulates with a "shockwave wall", a wall of increasing density all around the singularity, like an egg shell that has maximum density on the inside (but still hollow beyond the shell towards the center), and slowly less density on the outside. Because gravity itself doesnt "do anything" when time is paused, right? Because for gravity to have an effect, matter must be allowed to accelerate and move. If time is paused, nothing can move, thus the gravity becomes irrelevant. At the absolute center. I dont see how there's any way that the absolute central singularity of a black hole can have any matter at all, since time has paused, the matter cant "fall in". So it must be a gradient of dense matter in a shell around the absolute singularity. The most dense matter in the universe, surrounding the most empty void in the universe, where not even quantum fluctuations can spawn new particles, because time runs too slowly for even that to occur..
This is a really cool thought. The more I think on it the cooler it gets actually. My only argument would be that it's the accumulation of all that mass that causes the extreme time dilation in the first place so there should be mass there? If the mass had already gathered before time came to a stand still? Im not sure, it is a very cool thought though. It will keep me up thinking about it for sure.

This is a well known story as told by Jacques Vallee, I am paraphrasing here of course but it's essentially correct. Back when Hynek was investigating UFOs he had spoken to Carl Sagan regarding UFOs and specifically any data picked up by NORAD. He assumed that of they existed it would have some data. Hynek had asked NORAD and a had told him they had no data on UFOS. Whilst visiting NORAD himself, he asked the head running it if they had any data on UFOS, he was told they did not. But the person went on to say, we don't refer to them as UFOS, but UTC's. Sagan asked, what is a UTC, and was answered, a uncorrelated target. They got thousands of these a month. Now not all these were claimed to be UFOs, they look for ballistic tracks. However many of these UTCs had multiple data points or tracks. Some tracks had 2 data point (birds, etc normal every day items) but many had more tracks and were always marked an unidentified. If that is true then to suggest no one took interest in this post Bluebook? We know already that although Bluebook was closed, any UFO sighting that could impact national security already had a reporting chain seperate from Bluebook. This was verified in an official memo written by General Bolinder, expressive dissatisfaction that the public program was being shutdown whilst the classified studies were still running. either the 70's or 80's
I would be most interested to know if any agency such as NORAD has on record, on some type of world wide radar, an incident I personally witnessed at very close quarters here in the eastern central district of Ireland on the 19th. of May at approx. 4p.m., Without any warning a shock wave, better described as a Whoosh explosion straight overhead, then circa two minutes later a high pitched whirring noise that lasted about thirty seconds, that came from a black spinning cylindrical object, circa twelve to fourteen feet in diameter, that landed behind ruin of an old house right in front of me. I just managed to see the top four feet of the object as it slowly descended behind the ruin, the bottom unseen section could have been larger. I knew it was a U.F.O., it scared the hell outta me, got in my car which was near by and left the area. Would love to know if anyone's radar systems picked up any unknown signal for the location, time and date.

@@TheMikethoth I was less than one hundred feet away behind a thick high hedge which I was in the process of cutting back and tidying up, it was actually a really nice clear , sunny day, not a breeze Behind the hedge right in front of me was the ruins of an old house, the far side of a narrow driveway. I did not see the craft until I just happened to look through a gap in some branches of a tree, only was hearing the noise it was making, and by this time there was but left in view, about four feet of it as it descended slowly behind the old house. From the time that I first heard the initial shock wave, not a bang, until the object landed with a dull thump behind the old ruin, all in all was less than three minutes, and about another two minutes or less, which there was silence, until my instinct said, get the hell out of there.

34:50 wait, wouldnt it then be theoretically possible, that an entire solar system with planets, could "survive" inside the event horizon of a black hole? Since time slows down, it would eventually take that star / planet billions of years to "reach" the center (or collide with the mass deep inside). Given that radiation and stuff doesnt sterilize everything, obviously.
I think the difference in gravity between the side facing the black hole and side facing away would be too much and start ripping matter apart. It's where the "spaghettification" term comes from. The gravity is so strong that even the distance between your head and feet is enough to stretch you out, so I'd imagine it would act more so on stars and systems. It's an interesting thought though.

It's so refreshing to have a well versed, credible scientist "dare" to have conversations about topics that other scientists are afraid to due to backslash to their reputation. Remember folks, Avi is not saying everything he proposes is fact, he's just saying let's have the discussion, dissect it for their veracity and approach the idea using the principles of the scientific method. If you were to get pulled towards a black hole, wouldn't the observable event horizon always stay ahead of you? As you get closer, you will be in the 'orbit' of the light that you were previously not able to see, but the light between you would still be pulled towards the singularity and you'd be unable to see it. You'd continue to see more and more of what was previously un-observable until you were pulled apart by tidal forces - meanwhile to an external observer you would be frozen in time right at their version of the event horizon.
This channel is 10/10 if only everyone thought like these individuals imagine how the world could be without prejudice and politics we would be capable of what would be considered magic keep critically thinking and challenging the norm here's to the future!!!

I think any civilization wise enough to survive interstellar journeys, wouldnt be dumb enough to just hand over a blueprint of a Warp Drive, without also giving instructions on how to build the tools required, and how to refine the materials required, as well. Teach a man to make a fishing rod, dont just give him a fishing rod.

Vast majority well explained by phenomena such as wave guide contamination, anoprop, second time around and side lobe anomalies as well as bolides. These phenomena are more common over the sea. All these have been thoroughly explained.
Regarding the possibility of a unified theory of quantum mechanics and gravity I think we need to put much more focus on the initial postulates of the two theories. In particular based on the work extending general relativity into inhomogeneous and anisotropic conditions it appears that there are some fascinating properties which suggest serious problems related to logical internal consistency with the general assumption called the cosmological principle which says that at some sufficiently large scale. In particular work by Matthew Kleban and Leonardo Senatore (Matthew Kleban and Leonardo Senatore JCAP10(2016)022) shows that for any nontrivial flat or open cosmology there can not exist any maximum spatial volume at any timeslice of spacetime. The natural formulation of this was notably suspiciously similar to the definition of entropy within information theory when accounting for the total number of possible configurations being countably finite which caught my attention. Having dived deeper into the math it becomes clear that the implication is that there can not exist any nontrivial solutions which obey the Friedmann Lemaitre Robertson Walker metric because all possible solutions will invariably diverge from this idealized solution if the system isn't perfectly uniform and isotropic everywhere at all possible scales. Furthermore I believe I have figured out what this entropy is the measure of specifically it represents the entropy of paths which information can have causally propagated when accounting for that within general relativity all paths are unique i.e. the theory is path dependent and as a system of partial differential equations the Einstein field equations force all possible solutions to be unique for all possible initial conditions meaning that the metric at all points of spacetime is always uniquely determined thus terms within the metric tensor can never cancel out or be symmetric at least within the constraints of any arbitrary initial conditions for a nontrivial flat or open universe. In principal accounting for path dependence we can utilize stokes theorem to convert from the volume formalism for logical consistency to hold and use that to derive the formalism of black hole thermodynamics specifically the link between surface area and entropy without the need to invoke quantum mechanics directly which has important implications linking general relativity with quantum mechanics specifically it suggests that information becomes encoded within the field of paths through spacetime which make up the full metric tensor. This means that the metric tensor field aka gravity carries away information in the form of irreducible asymmetries within the metric and furthermore this is nonlocally constrained by the total information encoded within the Universe's initial conditions meaning any attempts to simplify the metric within general relativity must necessarily violate the conservation of information. In this light the information paradox and general incompatibility of solutions of general relativity with quantum mechanics become trivial consequences of the initial postulates of GR violating one of the foundational principals of quantum mechanics. One very real consequence of this is that their should be small but nonzero irregularities within the gravitational field of the black hole or anything else though at this point what those would look like is hard to say given that they will be a consequence of path dependent information propagation though spacetime. Unfortunately Gödel's incompleteness theorems cause problems as we are observers embedded within our universe.

@@lucasgibbs4879 The problem as far as I can tell having looked into the literature on that is Avi Loeb's solution required Oumuamua to be shiny however there is no evidence to support this claim as the observations of spectra all generally showed Oumuamua' s light curves were most consistent with a extremely dark red object. With these independent measurements of red light curve his light ail model doesn't really work. Loeb made the claim that Oumuamua is shiny but there doesn't seem to be any evidence for this claim. If he could present evidence showing Oumamua's light curve was shiny then it would be fine as we could compare these light curves to figure out what is going on but he hasn't which suggests this information doesn't exist as his interpretation doesn't fit the existing data very well.
In science if your model doesn't fit the data then its just wrong which should be the end of the story. This is where Loeb runs into problems (though there are some other problems with some of Loeb's arguments but those are more subtle) A lot of these arguments come down to the fine tunability of his light sail model.
Im 32 not really educated in all this but this channel is so fascinating and gripping, This should have millions of subs you gain some understanding and no matter who you interviewed it comes across like a story that you remember. Brilliant

Avi Loeb is a gem.

Because due to time dilation, time will essentially be paused at the very central point of a black hole, right?
So then no matter, even during the entire lifetime of the universe, would have had enough "time" to fall into the absolute center.
It would all slow down the closer it gets, until it collides and accumulates with a "shockwave wall", a wall of increasing density all around the singularity, like an egg shell that has maximum density on the inside (but still hollow beyond the shell towards the center), and slowly less density on the outside.
Because gravity itself doesnt "do anything" when time is paused, right?
Because for gravity to have an effect, matter must be allowed to accelerate and move.
If time is paused, nothing can move, thus the gravity becomes irrelevant.
At the absolute center.
I dont see how there's any way that the absolute central singularity of a black hole can have any matter at all, since time has paused, the matter cant "fall in".
So it must be a gradient of dense matter in a shell around the absolute singularity.
The most dense matter in the universe, surrounding the most empty void in the universe, where not even quantum fluctuations can spawn new particles, because time runs too slowly for even that to occur..
This is a really cool thought. The more I think on it the cooler it gets actually. My only argument would be that it's the accumulation of all that mass that causes the extreme time dilation in the first place so there should be mass there? If the mass had already gathered before time came to a stand still? Im not sure, it is a very cool thought though. It will keep me up thinking about it for sure.

This is a well known story as told by Jacques Vallee, I am paraphrasing here of course but it's essentially correct. Back when Hynek was investigating UFOs he had spoken to Carl Sagan regarding UFOs and specifically any data picked up by NORAD. He assumed that of they existed it would have some data. Hynek had asked NORAD and a
had told him they had no data on UFOS. Whilst visiting NORAD himself, he asked the head running it if they had any data on UFOS, he was told they did not. But the person went on to say, we don't refer to them as UFOS, but UTC's. Sagan asked, what is a UTC, and was answered, a uncorrelated target. They got thousands of these a month. Now not all these were claimed to be UFOs, they look for ballistic tracks. However many of these UTCs had multiple data points or tracks. Some tracks had 2 data point (birds, etc normal every day items) but many had more tracks and were always marked an unidentified. If that is true then to suggest no one took interest in this post Bluebook? We know already that although Bluebook was closed, any UFO sighting that could impact national security already had a reporting chain seperate from Bluebook. This was verified in an official memo written by General Bolinder, expressive dissatisfaction that the public program was being shutdown whilst the classified studies were still running.

I would be most interested to know if any agency such as NORAD has on record, on some type of world wide radar, an incident I personally witnessed at very close quarters here in the eastern central district of Ireland on the 19th. of May at approx. 4p.m., Without any warning a shock wave, better described as a Whoosh explosion straight overhead, then circa two minutes later a high pitched whirring noise that lasted about thirty seconds, that came from a black spinning cylindrical object, circa twelve to fourteen feet in diameter, that landed behind ruin of an old house right in front of me. I just managed to see the top four feet of the object as it slowly descended behind the ruin, the bottom unseen section could have been larger. I knew it was a U.F.O., it scared the hell outta me, got in my car which was near by and left the area. Would love to know if anyone's radar systems picked up any unknown signal for the location, time and date.

Whilsting sounds are often associated with things like that. How close were you? Do you have an estimate of how long you were in the vicinity?
@@TheMikethoth I was less than one hundred feet away behind a thick high hedge which I was in the process of cutting back and tidying up, it was actually a really nice clear , sunny day, not a breeze Behind the hedge right in front of me was the ruins of an old house, the far side of a narrow driveway. I did not see the craft until I just happened to look through a gap in some branches of a tree, only was hearing the noise it was making, and by this time there was but left in view, about four feet of it as it descended slowly behind the old house. From the time that I first heard the initial shock wave, not a bang, until the object landed with a dull thump behind the old ruin, all in all was less than three minutes, and about another two minutes or less, which there was silence, until my instinct said, get the hell out of there.

Since time slows down, it would eventually take that star / planet billions of years to "reach" the center (or collide with the mass deep inside).

I think the difference in gravity between the side facing the black hole and side facing away would be too much and start ripping matter apart. It's where the "spaghettification" term comes from. The gravity is so strong that even the distance between your head and feet is enough to stretch you out, so I'd imagine it would act more so on stars and systems. It's an interesting thought though.
Please keep bringing Avi back. He is BY FAR your best guest. It's so refreshing to have a well versed, credible scientist "dare" to have conversations about topics that other scientists are afraid to due to backslash to their reputation. Remember folks, Avi is not saying everything he proposes is fact, he's just saying let's have the discussion, dissect it for their veracity and approach the idea using the principles of the scientific method. Yet others are not even willing to approach or bring ideas to the table. Without open discussion, you can't have advancement. You keep doing what you're doing Avi. If you were to get pulled towards a black hole, wouldn't the observable event horizon always stay ahead of you? As you get closer, you will be in the 'orbit' of the light that you were previously not able to see, but the light between you would still be pulled towards the singularity and you'd be unable to see it. You'd continue to see more and more of what was previously un-observable until you were pulled apart by tidal forces - meanwhile to an external observer you would be frozen in time right at their version of the event horizon.
This channel is 10/10 if only everyone thought like these individuals imagine how the world could be without prejudice and politics we would be capable of what would be considered magic keep critically thinking and challenging the norm here's to the future!!!

I’m not a scientist but I imagine setting up near a black hole to get rid of trash and take energy would be like a squirrel hanging out in a tree that’s on fire because it’s warmer than the other trees while getting rid of the empty nut shells.

Such that, in the example, the caveman was given instructions on how to fashion axes out of flint, how to build a furnace with stones and wood, to melt iron, how to fashion the iron into tools, how to melt copper and assemble bagdhad batteries, etc etc.
THEN, it would eventually be possible, if his entire community came together, and followed the instructions step by step over perhaps 200 years.
I think any civilization wise enough to survive interstellar journeys, wouldnt be dumb enough to just hand over a blueprint of a Warp Drive, without also giving instructions on how to build the tools required, and how to refine the materials required, as well.
Teach a man to make a fishing rod, dont just give him a fishing rod.

Regarding the possibility of a unified theory of quantum mechanics and gravity I think we need to put much more focus on the initial postulates of the two theories. In particular based on the work extending general relativity into inhomogeneous and anisotropic conditions it appears that there are some fascinating properties which suggest serious problems related to logical internal consistency with the general assumption called the cosmological principle which says that at some sufficiently large scale. In particular work by Matthew Kleban and Leonardo Senatore (Matthew Kleban and Leonardo Senatore JCAP10(2016)022) shows that for any nontrivial flat or open cosmology there can not exist any maximum spatial volume at any timeslice of spacetime. The natural formulation of this was notably suspiciously similar to the definition of entropy within information theory when accounting for the total number of possible configurations being countably finite which caught my attention.
Having dived deeper into the math it becomes clear that the implication is that there can not exist any nontrivial solutions which obey the Friedmann Lemaitre Robertson Walker metric because all possible solutions will invariably diverge from this idealized solution if the system isn't perfectly uniform and isotropic everywhere at all possible scales. Furthermore I believe I have figured out what this entropy is the measure of specifically it represents the entropy of paths which information can have causally propagated when accounting for that within general relativity all paths are unique i.e. the theory is path dependent and as a system of partial differential equations the Einstein field equations force all possible solutions to be unique for all possible initial conditions meaning that the metric at all points of spacetime is always uniquely determined thus terms within the metric tensor can never cancel out or be symmetric at least within the constraints of any arbitrary initial conditions for a nontrivial flat or open universe.
In principal accounting for path dependence we can utilize stokes theorem to convert from the volume formalism for logical consistency to hold and use that to derive the formalism of black hole thermodynamics specifically the link between surface area and entropy without the need to invoke quantum mechanics directly which has important implications linking general relativity with quantum mechanics specifically it suggests that information becomes encoded within the field of paths through spacetime which make up the full metric tensor. This means that the metric tensor field aka gravity carries away information in the form of irreducible asymmetries within the metric and furthermore this is nonlocally constrained by the total information encoded within the Universe's initial conditions meaning any attempts to simplify the metric within general relativity must necessarily violate the conservation of information.
In this light the information paradox and general incompatibility of solutions of general relativity with quantum mechanics become trivial consequences of the initial postulates of GR violating one of the foundational principals of quantum mechanics. One very real consequence of this is that their should be small but nonzero irregularities within the gravitational field of the black hole or anything else though at this point what those would look like is hard to say given that they will be a consequence of path dependent information propagation though spacetime. Unfortunately Gödel's incompleteness theorems cause problems as we are observers embedded within our universe.

Karl Schwartzschild didn’t die as a result of his service on the Eastern Front. He died of a hereditary autoimmune disease (pemphigus) which is more common in Ashkenazic Jews (which he was). In other words, he did not die or hasten his death via patriotism.
