I absolutely love every Bellroy product I have. They are the Masters of Understated Class
Absolutely spot on review, Chase. I bought an orange one of these several months ago. It's my go-to for hikes and visits to the beach when i need to carry a bunch of stuff for my wife and giant dog. It's copped dirt, sand, dog spag, spilled bottles and all sorts, and the material holds up, still looks like new. The back panel and straps are sick. Even when packed out it's super comfortable to carry. The main bummer of daily use is that zipping and unzipping require two hands, but this is a sacrifice im comfortable with, in return for the water resistance. Massively agree with not putting heavy stuff in that top pocket or things get real droopy. The divider and small amount of internal pockets are pretty genius though, for quick sorting and access to incidentals. I find the top internal mesh pocket good for sunglasses. I recommend trying putting your camera in the side internal pocket; its a good fit and the weight balances the water bottle on the other side. One more nitpick is that i find the straps tend to loosen between carries, so i often need to adjust them when putting on the pack. This would be more of an issue if those straps weren't just so darn nice.
I should say that the zippers do end up peeling off. I take pretty good care of mine and the gooey film is already peeling off at the sides I use them the most. Little over a year of almost daily use. Only other thing I wish it had is ambidextrous sling usage. I’m a lefty and wish that side zipper pocket was in the opposite side. Other than that… it’s become my main bag. Looking forward for the next iteration!
Man I haven't watched a video from you since I bought my original Evergoods CPL24 in 2019, but glad to see you're still as entertaining and informative as ever. Kudos bro
I have the bellroy venture and i really like it! It's very similar to this bag. Tip for side pockets: since i have two of them, i use one for my wallet and keys (so they are less accessible to pickpockets or I simply don't need take them out of some other pocket and then forget them lying around) and the other i use it for my small umbrella
You’re so right about comfort and ride on the body. I’m a big dude (320lbs working on it lol) and it’s still really comfortable on me and sits great. Been my edc/work bag for seven months and I definitely recommend it. Great review as always
Knocked it out of the park. I have their Venture sling which is made of the same materials - honestly my favorite bag so far of 2024. Thin and flexible but super durable.
I love your content! You reviews are so chill delightful and detailed!
What are your thoughts on the 20L version for EDC?
Love your review. I've had this bag for about 6 months now and it's a great product. For me personally, it's a little large for an EDC (I have their Classic backpack for that which is brilliant) and having used this when travelling in Malaysia for 2 weeks, I have a couple complaints:
-I don't love the straps. I find them too thin and they feel like they're cutting into my shoulders a little. Bear in mind, I did fully stuff the bag so maybe this won't be an issue if not full. But yeah, wearing this all day, fully packed - you can feel those straps.
-Water bottle holder can be loose. If you've a narrow/smaller water bottle, be weary of laying your bag horizontally because i found my water bottle was on the verge of falling out at times. The tighter the fit, the better so something to think about.
Despite the high price, I still enjoy using it!
Please review the Bellroy Tokyo messenger bag. I need to know if that button closure works well and if a water bottle will fit in the outside zip pockets.
this is a NICE bag! the material and the little square grids in the fabric (forgot the name) really lovely! i perhaps would have liked the middle divider in the top pocket to be on velcro so you could have the whole thing open and use it more to your needs. The straps on this bag look like the most comfy straps i've ever seen and i love that the backpack isn't visible from the front, you just have these sleek vest like strap! super impressed! i do not need another bag but i need this one lol
These are £239 in the UK but they were selling the Bronze colour one for £125 up until about a week ago. No longer showing on their website. I probably should have bought one.
We need that intro energy for all (your) videos.
Bellroy Venture Ready 26 or Evergoods CPL or CHZ 26?
great review Chase! Just one caveat as I have bought almost a year ago the bigger sibling of that bag, I think it's called the transit plus. The external material is more of a ripgo rather than a ripstop. I have a couple of holes in it and the faux velours in the laptop compartment has a tear in it due to use, so overall not the highest resistance materials as far as my experience goes. Too bad Bellroy won't honor its warranty as I've not bought them from their stores. Everything else works well and the bag is quite comfortable I have to say.
From what I hear bellroy has some difficulties with honoring their warranty full stop.
And it's only 3 years compared to what other manufacturers at this price provide.
@@DaemonViews could be. The reason they gave me was that my bag was not bought from an authorized dealer and so they cannot honor the warranty. Notwithstanding the fact that they confirmed it was a genuine bag of theirs. I found it a bit of a cop out but I'm too far away to argue with menstruating
kangaroos
After owning an Apex and having problems with shoulder straps and key clip. Plus a bad experience with their CS - this is a pass. I bought their classic pouch and pencil pouch based on your reviews back in 2020, but I'll avoid their backpacks. Plenty of other companies out there that stand behind their bags and services to patron. Trakke has made some awesome bags recently that I haven't seen you cover :)
I have had great CS from Bellroy so this is new to hear. But this is not their best backpack. Tokyo Totepack is the best followed by the Classic. Love their designs!
Great review ;-) I got it a few weeks ago and share your thought on the material, it is exceptionally good and the bag is very comfortable. I am just a bit concerned that the laptop compartment is quite tight - due to the shape of the back panel, there is quite a lot of tension, also making the pocket very tight for a tablet. But the feel and carry comfort make up for it…
have this backpack and overall it is great. organization great. backpack straps could be better, and i find the side pocket a little awkward and would prefer a second water bottle pocket instead (I am often carrying stuff for me and my kids). the mesh inside and even the little umbrella/bottle/charger pocket on the inside are great.
The ONE issue I have with this bag and many others....why is there no luggage strap!? UGH. I would have bought this bag instantly if not for that flaw. It's a minimal addition and on 26L bag you most likely could/will travel with it. I love their camera sling quality and this bag is perfect...but I can't buy it :(...
You could always mount the bag sideways through the shoulder straps. That's what I do when traveling with such a backpack.
They are releasing a new version next month (may 2024)
-- and there is either a back panel handle or pass through I can see from their teaser photos
@@petermason1573 Good to know!
Just mount the bag to your back. Problem solved.
@@petermason1573 where are the teaser photos?
16:16 So glad Chase acknowledged the niche community of backpack over-optimizers in that scene. Huge fan of the content! Stay awesome 👏
That top front pocket with the divider looks interesting. From what I can see, the divider doesn't go all the way to the top and the pockets on both sides seem reasonably deep. Out of curiosity, if you put some noise cancelling headphones directly in that pocket, would they fit and the pocket still zip shut?
Great question and yes I believe they would (depending on model)
I would totally rock a waterbottle sticker of Chase screaming 'WHATS UP FRIENDS?!'..
Great review, can't wait for the 20litre version coming out in may
What is the brand of the water bottle? thanks for sharing.
any plans to check out the refresh with the new 20l size ?
Chase, how does this compare to the Tortuga Laptop Travel Backpack? I was eyeing that one.
Tortuga laptop backpack is more shiny, I'd say less fancy feeling materials, but other than that very similar layout. I could easily live with both. Tortuga: bag.gg/TortSetLap
Loved the energy.
Thats called adderall
I'd seriously urge anyone thinking of getting this bag to remember that Bellroy only has a three year warranty on these things and so many horror stories on the Manybaggers subreddit about customer service declining repairs for the most inane of reasons. A company that charges that much for a bag they don't even guarantee will last a full four year college/uni degree diploma should be something people run, not walk, away from.
They gave me a whole new backpack because a tag came off. So lol
Never dealt with customer service, so I would not know about that, but I've had their shift backpack (discontinued) for more than 3 years, I use it daily for errands, work, travel and trip and it still looks brand new. Best backpack I've ever had. Plus I have multiple other products from them with zero issues. I recommend them all the time to my friends and family (if they like the style of course).
Plus I'm pretty sure there's subreddit horror stories for every company out there... That's just the nature of internet, everyone's entitled to their opinion, just like you and me. The thing I'm sure about tho is that 95% of happy clients won't post a thing
Same , having their classic backpack for more than 3 years and half and still holding strong!
@@pingouinindifferent True, and reddit is known for "piling on" as well, where it becomes trendy / upvote worthy to shit on the "popular" products. I see it with On shoes in the running subs, certain watches in that sub, etc...
Hey Chase, just saw your interview w/ Huckberry - curious what sauna brand/model do you use?
but what about papers? Business papers?
I love the passion! WHAT'S UP!
Mine just arrived today! Chase did you see they are coming out with a new version next month? Any ideas on what the changes are? I noticed a new handle between the pads on the back panel in their teaser photos
Hey, where did you see that there is a new version comming? i'm looking to get this bag, but if there is a new version comming, i will hold and see what the changes are
@@CHAPINONG bellroys website on the coming soon tab
@@CHAPINONG They added a luggage passthrough to the 26l and made a 20l, they also reduced this model to £145 from £240 so I jumped on it (never use the luggage passes anyway)
I think this is probably the best backpack ever made. I'm 6'4" and it looks like I'm wearing my child's bag. Heartbroken😔
I basically dig their stuff but those glossy zipper covers don't look any good imho. Great review! Man! ✌
Do you like this over the Pakt 22 or 15 EDC?
Greg! I go for the pakt 22 prolly: bag.gg/Pakt
@@chasereeves Ok ok, the Venture was looking pretty appealing vs the Pakt. Ill check them out again. :)
I have the Classic Backpck nd tbh I don’t find the cut of the straps that comfortable. They tend to cut in on my armpit and I can never quite get it comfortable enough. So I am not a fan of that style of strap.
This is the new versions or the original one?
You're a great actor dude 🍿
chase is the goat
Once again this weird tech hippy sells me on another bag. I have more bags now than business papers.
Weird tech hippy!? accurate.

I LOVE IT!!!
tha'ts nylon or polyester? I'm confused.
"Baida" nylon 👍
Looks nice but too small
what's that bottle at 1:00
From bag.gg/UconAcrobatics... it's small, but solid. Doesn't compete with the Owala tho bag.gg/OwalaBottle32
Business papers!
Yes please
