Auf Wiedersehen, Pet (German pronunciation: [ʔaʊf ˈviːdɐˌzeːən ˈpɛt]) was a British comedy-drama television programme about seven British construction workers who leave the United Kingdom to search for employment overseas. In the first series, the men live and work on a building site in Düsseldorf. The series was created by Franc Roddam after an idea from Mick Connell, a bricklayer from Stockton-on-Tees, and mostly written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, who also wrote The Likely Lads, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? and Porridge. It starred Tim Healy, Kevin Whately, Jimmy Nail, Timothy Spall, Christopher Fairbank, Pat Roach and Gary Holton, with Noel Clarke replacing Holton for series three and four and the two-part finale. The series were broadcast on ITV in 1983-1984 and 1986. After a sixteen-year gap, two series and a Christmas special were shown on BBC One in 2002 and 2004.

dont know what you mean by 'horribly' but you may be surprised to learn that anyone in their 60s or 70s today is going to look a lot older than they did 40 years ago.
At the time i worked in construction as an electrician and i can honestly say that it in my humble opinion the greatest tv series that i have ever experienced the first series in Germany was the best i don't think the others quite quite came up to its mark but they were still very good

Apparently Jimmy Nail said he was his best friend on set as he was completely the opposite of the character he played.
Living up in Newcastle this series was massive it’s crazy to think how long ago it is now, we’ve all aged it’s just a fact of life, great cast, great scripts

Jimmy Nail my absolute favourite and remained that way for all his other roles he took. Seen him live in concert numerous times and he had a brilliant voice. ❤️❤️
What's mad is Neville played the youngest and in the first episode on the ferry when talking about missing Brenda said of Neville 'well they do at that age' He was older than all of them

I remember,it seemed that everyone was talking about it when it first came out. I was 14 in 1983,and I remember buying an LP with all the music on it from the first series. I wish I had kept it now. I suppose in this digital world now,it could be downloaded if I looked.

It is available on cd.Picked it up in a charity shop.The LP I got from a Virgin Records bargain bin years ago when they were closing down but it was missing the cover unfortunately.Still have it.

The title of this video is really horrible NOT the age of the actors, they have not aged horribly at all, appearances change with age.
I would tape them on the old VHS recorder and would enjoy watching them the next day. Auf Weidershen, Pet was a great series and one of my favourite programmes back in the 80s.
Please bring the greatest tv show back. It finished where the lads were heading back to Germany. Imagine Dennis meeting up with Dagmar and finding out she had his kid Wyman meeting bis half brother or sister...

Leonard Jeffrey Osbourne...Oz was his nickname from the first two letter of his surname Oz(bourne)
Brian 'Bomber' Busbridge...trivia fact...aside from Harrison Ford, Pat Roach is the only other actor to feature in all three of the first Indiana Jones films. Different characters but most notably the German mechanic that Jones fights with on the plane on the runway and gets mangled by the propeller in 'Raider of the Lost Ark'.
