A tip for that leftover fruit salad, turn it into freezer jam. Just puree it all, add in the correct amount of sugar and fruit for each batch, I usually follow the strawberry freezer jam recipe in the Sure Jell box and process by following the directions. I call it my Summer blend jam and it is amazing!!
Great idea! Diane
That’s brilliant! Thank you!
Great idea!❤
Why you need to add the "correct" amount of sugar if you're freezing it? Not canning it.
Depending on what fruit you used, you could also puree it & put it into ice cube trays for smoothies
I have learned so much from your videos. I was so proud of myself this week. I had almost a pound of hamburger cooked with white gravy. No one wanted to eat that ever. I found a half box of bow tie noodles. Instead of buying egg noodles, I used the bow ties. There was almost 1/2 block of cream cheese, 1/2 cup delicious brown gravy and almost 1/2 cup of sour cream left. I added it all together. 😊It made a huge batch of beef stroganoff that everyone wants to eat. We’ve been busy freezing blueberries, corn and strawberries on sale.
YAY! That's the way to do it! Good for you!
That really sounds good!! I will have to keep that in mind for next time I have some hb left
I save a bag in the freezer of various buns and bread heels that are torn apart in cubes. When the bag is filled up I toss it with egg awash and let it soak overnight. In the morning I sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the top and bake at 350. ---French toast casserole ‼️
Yes, wonderful idea!
I shared with my neighbor, I knew they probably would not have leftovers from their son’s house on the 4th. We share stuff all of the time. They are great neighbors to have.
I love that so much! Good for you!
My husband’s birthday was Wednesday. It’s the one time of the year that we go out to a fine restaurant for steak. (My favorite is different.) Anyway we ended up with 2-3 servings each of mushrooms and the same with Brussels sprouts. We added mushrooms to our scrambled eggs the next morning; then I made a cream soup out of the rest. I made a separate cream soup of the Brussels sprouts! We are our leftover entrees the next day for lunch. We do not waste food…and certainly not when we have paid a pretty penny for it!
YAY! Sounds like a lovely meal! Happy Birthday to your Hubby!
I always say, “friends don’t let friends let their leftovers go bad.” I remind coworkers at work to set an alarm on their phone or write themselves a note to take their leftovers home with them if they went out to lunch at work. Or if somebody gets pizza, I suggest they put it in a food container instead of letting it dry out in the box inside the fridge.
I really appreciate you showed me how to use all my leftovers. Zero food waste! Thank you!
You are so welcome, Jackie!
Take several of those cooked meatballs, some marinara sauce, and two of those club rolls for meatball sandwiches the next night. Add some of the sautéed peppers and onions on top. Freeze all of the rest. We grilled alot on the Fourth, and I always say, cook once, eat 2-3 times!
Thank you. So important with the cost of living crisis. Just got a food waste caddy and I have soo little in it!💚
Yes, works so well!
Sorry I missed the premier today, I was in the kitchen canning sweet pickles trying to use up all the cucumbers from the garden. When I have leftover buns, I like to chunk them and make homemade croutons with them. Add a few of those hotdogs to the baked beans and you have beanie weenies! Thanks for showing us how to do the meatballs, they look delicious!
No, premier today! We were unavailable . Thanks for being here!
I thought about beanie weenies too, and they could’ve done the same thing by cooking some of those sausages and then slicing them on the diagonal about 3/8 of an inch thick. That is so tasty.
I've found that I have saved a lot of money when I do an inventory of what I have. Before I go shopping. It's also nice to know I don't have to shop every week. And we are eating a lot better food.
So true!
When we BBQ we like to cook a lot of food so that we can use it for leftovers. Well I made some shish-ka-bobs and some side veggies this time. We ate it that way, then we ate it over rice with some extra veggies on the side. Then I took my leftover shish-ka-bobs and removed them from the skewers. I then took freezer bags and separated that and all the veggies into the bags to serve over rice as like a bowl type meal, or stir fry. I got 4 meals from it for easy meals for future use. I call that a win for that one dinner that we cooked.
Wonderful! So creative!
Lovely idea to make the most out of the bbq as well
I love shish kebabs with meat and veggies over rice! I need to get a grill!
I just love when you show how you preserve or use your leftovers - very inspiring! Have a great weekend Emmy and Paul and Dixie!
I challenge myself to use/freeze leftovers and consider it a little victory when they all are eaten😊. Those freezer items are a life saver after a long day of chores or errands! Thank you for all the encouragement.
You as well! Thanks so much for watching!
I remember my Grandma making Skorps in the 70s with leftover rolls. I come from a Swedish background and all the old Swedes in my family had 3 o'clock tea and or coffee each day. Skorps were a frugal sweet treat at 3 o'clock coffee. I thought maybe it was just butter, sugar and cinnamon on thin strips of rolls but the recipes I'm finding on the internet also say cardamom and allspice. You toast them in the oven. I don't think my Grandma added those last 2 ingredients. Alone they were very dry but you ate them with coffee of tea. It's a fond childhood memory for me.
What a lovely 3:00 tradition. People need more customs like that in life!
I have so much less food waste since watching your videos! Making meatballs was a great solution.
Yes!! So happy to hear that!
Thank you for the tip on reheating pastry’s. I love learning new things. ❤️
That's wonderful, Patti!
Hot dog buns also make great French toast stick
Great idea, Leah!
When I have leftovers from a big meal, I make my own “frozen TV dinners”…..then I have these on hand for a nice Sunday meal…..thanks for all the useful tips…..I miss seeing Dixie!
Dix is doing so well!! She'll make a cameo next video!
Thank you. I feel like I have a friend who I can learn from everyday.
That makes us so happy, Gale! Thank you!
I had bits and bobs this week in my refrigerator. I thought what would Emmy do? I cut it all up, put it in a freezer bag and put it in the freezer. Now I have the start of a soup.
YAY! Good for you!
I never thought to use the everything seasoning on garlic bread. These are all fantastic ideas!
Thanks so much, Tina!
Hi Emmy and Paul. Excellent vidéo. When I use ziplock bags for the freezer I used a straw to pull out the air .I t seals the bags . Have a nice week end
Great tip, Micheline!
I used to gladly take all the left over veggie tray contents home from potluck/ buffet type events complete with those dribbled by dip and wilting. Once home i grew them in a colander, washed the dressing off, chopped or diced as needed, and tossed them directly in a crockpot or pot for some type of a soup or stew., Next stop was a clean out of tge fridge followed by a purview of the freezer. Lastly it was look at what i had, maybe add some onions or garlic, maybe add a little bullion type product.
Very frugal for sure!
Wish I had room for a small separate freezer. I have a small refrigerator with top freezer that doesn't hold a lot. Really need freezer space to save leftovers.
But, I guess I just need to buy less so I waste less.
Yes, that's a very good alternative!
Love it food looks great 👍 I recycle food to dogs bread to Canadian geese and their babies and lettuce to rabbits I eat all .y leftovers with zero waste or feed gods creatures 😅
Be careful though feeding bread to geese. It can cause angel wing which can be fatal 😔
I’ve used leftover rolls to make garlic toast for years. Butter the bread, sprinkle on garlic salt, and sometimes a little garlic powder to n make them extra garlicky, then toast or broil.
Perfect!
Great motivational video! Yes, working very hard on zero food waste. With the garden now providing food, it’s even more important to be on top of it! Happy 4th of July!
Yes, great point! Happy 4th!
Nice ideas from you and viewers. We usually throw bread that is getting close to stale in freezer. Use it when we want dressing.
Smart!
Left over shredded carrot and also coleslaw can be washed of thier dressing then used elsewise.
I always look so much forward to your vlogs. Thanks a million. I am not the best housewife, but the motivation and encouragement you give with such grace and love has changed me completely- I aim to be as good as you (….a little bit of a longer journey😀) - but my goodness - my life has changed and my days are filled with exciting projects. You are simply the best, warm and encouraging lady. I live in Europe and the mixer you recently bought is also on special offer here and exactly what I have been searching for the last years. I am over the moon. Keep healthy and surrounded by the love you deserve. 💐🍾💐🍾
Thank you so much for your kind words!! Means so much to us!
Great ideas! I'd love to see how you manage your inventory sometime.❤

@@FrugalMoneySaver I thought you may have a paper management system
I just made corn chowder with leftover corn on the cob and diced up cooked bratwurst leftovers. It turned out delicious for lunch. And my buns are going to be freezer bread crumbs for future garden frittata.
YAY! Sounds great!
Great tips, very inspiring! Never thought of making pizza buns upside down. 😊
Really helps the sogginess!
I absolutely love doing this. My sister NEVER does and it makes me sick. 😢
Thanks for watching, Connie!
Hooray! You got a food processor. Saves so much time and energy. ❤
Yes, Paul got it for my birthday! $35 brand new from Cuisinart!
I got my food processor on sale myself from Walmart a long time ago. It was about 30 bucks too. I love it. I take care of it so it will last me. It has saved me time and energy in the kitchen
Those hot dog buns make awesome french toast
Thanks!
Some other ideas for leftover bread

Thanks, Rochelle!
I made garlicky croutons with my leftover bread. Have a great weekend!
You as well, thank you!
This video was outstanding! Thank you for the wonderful ideas. I love your nail polish...so pretty.
So kind, susan! Thank you!
My frig was getting empty yesterday. Picked up an order at 7 am today and then began working on other things I need to complete today.
Good for you, Latesha!
These are great ideas for anyone who needs to evacuate and will have a way to cook.
We returned home after evacuating in our RV because of the Thompson wildfire in Oroville Ca. Your cooked leftover meal ideas will be in a bin in my freezer. I can grab and go when immediate evac alarm in our home goes off. Fire evac too hot 111° and smokey to cook outsie or inside rv but could use microwave.
I really appreciate your channel.
Oh please be safe!
My grandmother made a cold salad with leftover baked beans, some Miracle Whip or mayo, chopped onion, and cut up tomatoes. This may sound terrible to some, but I found it delicious and I'm not a fan of baked beans! Nothing went to waste with her and she was a fabulous cook.
Love that!
deviled eggs leftover never happen at my house. My sister made 48 this 4th and I didn't even get one 😢
We love the 4th and have a large gathering every year.
Oh wow! They must be amazing!
You said wedge! I grew up calling submarine sandwiches wedge! I grew up in sleepy Hollow. Been living up state for 40 years . And nobody calls it a wedge! But I feel a little nostalgia going on ❤ that was awesome
Sleepy Hollow is only about 40 minutes. Lovely town!
I love leftovers. Thanks much🎉
So glad it was helpful, Barbara!
Your channel is my favorite. You inspire me. I had 4 hot dog buns left and I made french toast with them. Never thought to do that in the past. I loved them. My son was like mom it's not the great depression. But they were delicious and the buns were used up with no waste.
Start small you’ll be using up everything from now on :)
YAY! Love to hear we are your favorite! Thank you!
Emmy, I think I would put some cheese on that garlic bread. Love my cheese! 😊 I love this type of video! Thanks!
Great idea!
Thanks for the great tips ! Lots of love from a chilly Auckland, New Zealand ❤️❤️
It's about 90 here and very humid! lol!
Your video was full of tips I will use. And your subscribers have wonderful idead, too.
Thank you. So glad I found your channel.
YAY! Thank you!
We joined a CSA this year and have a lot of produce that the two of us cannot eat up before they go bad. I’ve been dehydrating greens, freezing the extra zucchini into 2 cup portions for zucchini bread come fall and winter, and trying new dishes with things we have never eaten before. I don’t believe in food waste either. Great video with wonderful ideas. Thanks so much. I really like the way you’ve done your hair. It looks soft and very summery. Take care.
So kind, Debbie! Thank you!
Rinse out your large bowl and use the rinse water as a soup broth for the week
To day I will make bread dumplings and a white mushroom sauce, to use up my dry bread.
Perfect!
Didn't have my readers on and thought this said, "RV prepping," instead of "by prepping." I got excited for you guys for a moment. 😆
LOL! No, no RV.
Great Tips as always! We had leftovers for lunch today and still have burger buns left over. I never thought of making them into garlic bread, but that is exactly what I will be doing now 🙂 Here is a tip regarding the pastry/bread in the Ziploc bags: Use any kind of drinking straw (I keep some just for this purpose) and stick it into the bag to a point where there is an air pocket. Then seal the top all the way to the straw. Now through the straw suck as much air out of the bag as possible. With your last sucks, pull the straw already a bit more to the top. Then pull out the straw and seal the bag completely immediately. You have to be fast! Now you have a nicely vacuumed bag, but not as much as with the FoodSaver which would smash the content.
Thanks for sharing that tip!
Hot dog buns make great pizza subs !
You can even make them up now and freeze them uncooked. Take them out of the freezer and pop in the oven all ready when you want a snacky dinner.
Those baked beans are a meal on their own with a crusty toasted roll.
Great ideas!
These are my videos. It's really hard as a single person to cook for one especially since food usually comes family size. I'll always looking for ideas.
I'm a single retired lady so i can relate. Most frozen meat and fish are at least 4 servings. I have an electric food saver like Paul uses. I take the items out of the store bag and seal them in individual portion food saver bags and then put them back in the original package. That way, I avoid freezer burn on the items I don't use right away and get the cheaper price per unit. I usually shop for my meat and fish once every few weeks and do all the food saver work just as soon as I get home.
So glad the video was helpful!
I made the lovely crotons and a cold meat salad combo from left overs last week and a fruitsalad. This week I will be sprucing up the lovely Greek yguhrt I still have with strawberries and cherries that have to go, it was a delight to see the fridge neat and tidy and no waste this week ❤
Sounds wonderful!
The fruit I like to put in small ziplock bags and mark smoothies. Any fruit can work for this. My bananas sometimes ripen too fast and I throw them in the freezer right in the peel. Leftovers are the best :)
Great idea!
Great idea!
Great video !!
My favorite tip was turning deviled eggs into egg salad sandwiches
Happy summer
Happy Summer, Sheryl!
@@FrugalMoneySaverHope you’re cooler than us….Say it may hit 112 today but we have dry heat! Is that better???!!?? Hot is hot!🥵 lol
I got a free giant zucchini lifted to me this past week! Breakfast this coming week will include zucchini muffins and we will also have grilled zucchini with our dinner 😋
That is awesome!
I watch every video you publish❤ you are like my advice grandma(mine are both old)
So sweet! Thank you!
Great video! Headed out this morning to pick my berries and veggies from the yard and store them!
Enjoy!
Another awesome video. Thank you .
Thanks so much, Steve! Hope you and Sherry are well!
I love these ideas!! I live alone and any one of these will work here in my home. And just look at how many items you have for upcoming meals!!
Yes, that's what we hoped for!
Emmy thank you for the tips. I have one you’ve probably used. When storing foods in a ziplock bag especially for the freezer I seal the bag up to about 1/2” then I insert a straw in the opening seal it as much as possible and suck out the remaining air with the straw. I know it sounds crazy but it works. I learned this when I used to decorate cakes.
Interesting video tfs
You are welcome, Gina
Oh there is a video today. Great!
Hope you enjoyed it!
One thing I always have trouble finding is guidelines on how long different things need to be frozen individually before they’ll be frozen hard enough to transfer to freezer bags or vacuum sealed. My web searches are more often than not in vain.
Usually within 4 hours things are pretty frozen solid if your freezer is running efficiently. If they are not frozen all the way add a couple more hours in the freezer.
Thank you so much for this video❤❤
You are so welcome, Delphine!
Love you guys to the 🌙..
Awww that is so kind! Thank you!
Thanks, Emmy and Paul!😁
So welcome, Steina!
I've reused bags that contain raw meat for years. I just make sure they only get reused to contain more raw meat. Now i use vaccum bags for raw meat, and i reuse them all the time. Use them, wash them well, dry, and reuse.
That's great! It's just not something I would personally not recommend to my viewers.
Awesome video. So much good information and tips. You have inspired me! Thank you.
YAY! So happy to hear that!
Great idea about the garlic bread 🧄 I often have bread that I can no longer use so knowing how to turn it into another food-type is really helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video. Thanks for all of the ideas!❤
You are so welcome, Donna!
Ooo that garlic bread making! Such a good idea! I love your videos, keep the money saving ideas coming! 😊🎉
Thank you! Will do!
You and Paul are such and inspiration to me. I love your content, your lifestyle and can tell that you have a huge heart. Thanks again!
Thanks so much 😊. What a lovely compliment!
Use a straw to suck out the extra air in freezer bags.
Lots of delicious leftovers. Great ideas for no waste. Looks like you are getting a lot of use and loving your new food processor. That was a perfect gift for you from Paul!
Yes, I didn't know how much I would use it LOL!
Great video I will use these ideas.
Wonderful, Mary!
Hello, sweet friend, next time you have a cookout, can I.come, everything looks so yummy.
Absolutely ! LOL! Thank you!
Great information! I never knew about freezing baked beans!
Oh yes!
Excellent way to use leftovers. I also make garlic bread from left over buns, but have never made them ahead and froze them like you did! Thanks for the idea as I have some to use up now!!
You are so welcome, Janie!
Really great ideas!
Thanks so much!
Emmy, great tips on repurposing leftovers. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Emmy I freeze bread then grat it I to bread crrumbs
Smart!
Can you freeze some of the fruit salad and make smoothies from it after it's frozen? Diane
Yes, we could but we prefer the fruit fresh.
Hi great 👍 👌 frugal prep food y favorite frugal chef 😋 yummy.dinnet.meals and snacks .wow wee sav money and time .freezer meals fridge freezers ❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Abida!
I can’t find my original comment from a few weeks ago, but wanted to share this with you. Enjoy!! Any others also! Family recipe!!
Squash Relish:
•12 c shredded squash (or zucchini)
•4 c chopped onion
•2 c chopped green pepper
•2 c chopped sweet red pepper
•2 c (or to taste) chopped jalapeño
•2TBS salt
•2 1/2 c white vinegar
•5 c sugar
•3/4 tsp turmeric
•1 tsp mustard seed
•1 tsp black pepper
••Mix all ingredients in a dish pan, boil/cook 20 minutes. (Time from point of full boil) Have jars and tips in HOT water; dip HOT mixture into HOT jar, using funnel, place tip, tighten ring, set to side to cool…will seal as it cools. DO NOT move until completely cool and sealed. Wipe jars and store.
This will make approximately 5-7 quarts, depending on how full you fill.
I refrigerate after opening, but won’t spoil if you don’t… I serve on beans, peas, in potato salad, chicken, tuna, egg salad… got a friend puts on his hot dogs! 🤷🏼♀️
Let me know how you like it!
From Sweet Home Alabama!! Roll Tide!
God Bless!🇺🇸
This looks delicious; I think I'll give it a try. I love making squash pickles. TFS!
Thanks so much, Rhonda!
I’m still wasting some food to be honest but thank you for the motivation to keep moving forward into saving and using up more of my food and not wasting.
You are so welcome!
I refreeze my ground and it's always fine
Love watching your videos! Your family is Blessed!
Thanks so much, Robin!
Totally motivating!
YAY! Thank you!
Really enjoyed watching this video Emmy & Paul. It was so interesting to see the ways you were using up the leftovers and freezing them. It certainly was motivating and inspiring. I freeze a lot of foods so that I don't waste anything. The freezer is indeed a great asset.
By the way, your nails looked especially gorgeous with that colour you were wearing Emmy.
I wish you both a really good week. May God bless you both.❤
God Bless you too, Yvonne! Hope you and yours are well!
Leftovers are my friend. I can think of other ways to use our leftovers. I had a rice and bean mixture flavored with taco seasoning for taco bowls a couple of days ago. I finished the little bit of "taco" mixture in a crafted sandwich maker. I had a heaping 1/3 cup of mixture and i added 1/4 cup shredded cheese. I made 10 triangle wedge hot pocket sandwiches out of that little bit. Such a money and food stretcher.
So creative! Good for you!
Love these ideas! I never know what to do with those little bits of leftovers. Thank you so much! ❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
Brilliant video, I love this type of video. You two are truly inspiring. Lots of love. ❤
So kind, thank you!
That's a lot of leftovers. Emmy! Great job! 😊 ❤
