For peanut butter, honey and other sticky ingredients, if you measure by weight, you can just add it to the mixing bowl. Zero the scale, between each ingredient. Easier, and quicker cleanup!

    My plant based protein bars-
    Base:
2C oats (I use old fashioned)
    1 C peanut butter
    1/2 C honey
    1 scoop vanilla protein powder
I add mini chocolate chips to mine and a shake of chia seeds. You can add in just about anything! I love these while nursing, the oats and protein and fat kept the hanger away. I also like doing the mini freeze dried tiny marshmallows to make like a s'mores bar. I press mine into an 8x8 pan and cut 5x5. Kid approved!

I have never, in my 69+ years of life, ever trained for, nor run any kind of marathon. I have a sister who is 4 years older than me, who runs marathons all the time. My husband put a can of veg soup in the blender one time! Good luckvto your son!for the chia pudding, if you put seeds in the blender with the liquid it ends up smoother if your preference.

No training for me, but I love meal prepping like this because when my athletic girls(4 of them) come home from practice, etc) they are all starving. So it’s like what can I give them that’s quick and filling and not junk. Even if it’s something that I have to reheat, I can do that while they shower. Also, great to pack a big cooler for a soccer tournament day as well. Much healthier and cheaper than hitting up the snack stands or food trucks. At least for the whole day. 😉

😂😂 I love the low sugar pectin ! We used to have all kinds of fruit trees, plums, peaches, apples, pears, apricot, grapes, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries!! I would use 2 to 2- 1/2 cups of sugar per batch and it was plenty!! Our 3 yr old grandson would eat it out of the jar and it tastes more like the fruit than the sugar! I didn't crush the fruit, left it whole. Yum, so easy!!!😍😍😍

Great Video 😍 I'm a 60 y/o and I cycle 200 miles a week regularly from April to November!LOL (usually in 3 rides of 70 to 80 to miles each) It has taken many years to dial in the nutrition - my food of choice during rides are Medjool dates and during the midway break on these rides I eat a Japanese sweet potato as well as drink plenty of water with electrolytes. Depending on the intensity, I will eat more of less of the dates. When I get home from these rides I will have a shower and a small meal with a protein and water shake then about 2 hours later I will have a larger meal. I have tried gels and bars and chews but they upset my stomach and the real food works well for me. Sometimes the day after the ride I will notice an increase in hunger.

I used to bicycle a lot and would take 3-5 week vacations bike camping. What I found was adding a fourth full meal to my routine worked and was easy to cut after the trip. What we'd usually do is get up have tea and something cold as we were packing up the camp. Then ride for a couple of hours and stop for breakfast because it was nice to sit down and have a hot breakfast and there are always specials.

I make many protein bars with plant based vanilla protein powder for my son. I get the Vega brand from Target. We don’t use rolled oats but oat flour with peanut butter, honey/syrup, coconut oil, vanilla and some mini choc chips. It has a very similar texture to a perfect bar. He has chosen to be a vegetarian so it’s been a fun challenge finding ways to add more protein to things.

Hiking and camping hunger is real. I used to work with kids in the woods 7 on 7 off...if I worked extra on my week off I wouldn't see the inside of a building for 21 days. It's really hard to consume enough calories when you are living outdoors if you're even slightly uncomfortable. You spend all your nutrition trying to regulate your temperature and stay hydrated.
It was not uncommon for me to squirrel away in my hammock after the days hike with my food bag and just shove food in until I fell asleep. Meal bars, granola, candy, jerky...all the salt, fat and sugar I could find before dinner. (Then dinner) And when I was on the way home from a week of that I would stop at the first gas station and buy a pound of lunch meat, eat it while driving home. And then order a pizza.
Times have changed and I can't eat like that anymore but it was fun while it lasted. hahahh!
I don't know if I have commented before, Christine, but Ioooooove your videos. My fav are the pantry cooking, cleaning it out style meal preps etc. that is exactly how I cook and I'm getting better at managing food waste for watching you but also just for fun. I work nights now, with a lot of down time. Your longer videos help me pace the night's activities. I know the beignet video by heart, I know most of the pantry cooking videos pretty well. Hahah love the way you scream at your food processor. And let's get you a shirt that says...."it'll be fine". Also hats off to us who know a little something about HEB. Woohoo!
I hope your kiddo is doing well with his wisdom teeth. He will be ready for something crunchy in a few days. How's Haley?

I did a long session yesterday (incline walking, followed by 2 hour long water classes- aerobics and pilates). I left wanting all of the things shoved in my mouth. I'm hoping that when school resumes next month and I have 5 days free every week that I can bump up to at least 3 days of 3+ hour sessions with a mix of endurance, aqua, and resistance/weight training.

I can so sympathize with your son needing to eat soft things. About 10 yrs ago, I got braces...IN MY 40's. I had to wear and appliance that was screwed into the roof of my mouth and I had a hard time eating chunky food b/c it would get caught between the appliance and the roof of my mouth. (For anyone getting braces or with a kid getting braces, the best thing you can do is get a WaterPik). I used to puree everything. I would take canned soup, puree it in my blender (thank you Vitamix) and take that to work for lunch. Good Luck with your races! Above all else, have FUN.

I just skim the foam off my jam before I jar it. I don’t water bath my jam. My great grandmother taught me to use food grade paraffin wax that you get at the grocery store. I'm sure wisdom teeth boy is completely fine now but fairlife milk is great for pudding! I love the 2% but for added calories the whole fairlife milk has 13g protein

The heel of the loaf of bread is the best, especially if toasted!!

Make your instant pudding into protein pudding…first add unflavored protein powder to your milk and mix well, then add the protein milk to the instant pudding mix!

And so, I learned a new word today. The *heel* of a (loaf of) bread. Never knew that, having lived in Northern America for a couple of years. :) In Swedish we call it 'skalk' , and yes, it is the best (depending on the bread, of course).

I trained for a hiking trip I took with friends to hike Colca canyon, Peru in 2019 and that’s how I learned I’m not much of an endurance athlete. I did it, I have pictures to prove it, it was cool, I’ll probably never do it again 😂

T yfs frugal fit mom you've given me suggestion...I have a very low appetite and get tired of the same thing. Your poor baby been there when with the wisdom teeth when I was younger. I mix coolwhip to the pudding and add over crushed Graham crackers or Nilla wafers or his liking. Question what is a plant based protein? I'm allergic to whey, corn, coconut, sour cream. Yes I know all the good stuff..lol. my nurse wants we to increase my protein.

I tried it with PB chocolate plant based protein powder, it makes it much more cakey. It still tasted great, though!

Your BB jam looks amazing! I've never heard of strawberry protein powder, love the idea of adding it to chia overnight pudding. Seeing all those pudding mixes makes me wonder if you like pistachio-flavored food?

I make protein bars very similar and use all sorts of plant based protein powders with no issue at all. Hemp does make them taste a little grassy but my family doesn't mind.

Since I was a very young child I always loved the heel of the bread wrapped around a chunk of cheese…no butter. It was my lunch every day at school. My mother was so embarrassed that people would think we were paupers. To this day at 66 years old it’s still my favourite snack.

Sorry if this has already been asked but what containers do you use for your breakfast bowls? Does your family warm them up in the microwave?
