I love his music. Age has changed his voice & it sounds as if he's struggling to sing & get the words out. Great musician; but it's just not there anymore. 😢😢😢 God bless you, Bruce & "thank you" for your awesome talent back in the day. 😉👍😁
Bruce Hornsby is my favourite musician of all time! He has such an intricate connection with the piano, which allows him to produce a truly unique and moving style of playing. Always a joy to listen to. Song A is a recent re-discovery, But grew up listening to the albums The way it is and scenes from the south side which truly played a part in defining me as a person. In all the right ways I’d like to think of course😂 Love, good health and good music to all!
Love watching artists later in their careers performing their old songs with a different light that their age brings. Watch ‘Both sides now’ by Joni Mitchell - 2000
Bruce wrote the song in 1986 or earlier. Tupac released Changes in 1992. Tupac’s producer(s) sampled or recreated Bruce’s song. It’s cool, but it’s obvious who wrote the song first.
You nailed it. He gives so much back to the community he grew up in. I had the opportunity to chat with him about "just stuff" a while back and was amazed how easy going he is. The talk around town is that whenever you see a musician (think Wynton Marselles, Bonnie Rait, etc) in Williamsburg, Bruce is cutting another album.
Sometimes words fall when expressing my feelings for Bruce. He basically touches my soul. Especially with this specific piece due to the classic piano bit. I can honestly say it was through him that I learned to appreciate spontaneity when artists play music.
Well, I keep diving deeper into Mr Hornsby after seeing him recently playing solo. Not my first time though. This is exactly what I wanted to see, as a piano player I’m still learning every time I listen. Thanks Bruce and Stereogum! Please if you like Bruce, go see him play, and play his music well!
One of the greatest and most versatile musicians I‘ve ever seen. One of my greatest emotional moments seeing him live in cologne in 2019. What a great pleasure and honour. I hope he will keep on playing this magical for many many years so I will be able to see and hear him performing live again. A man and his piano. 👍🏼
I was supposed to see him last year in Fort Wayne, but Covid interrupted, just my ticket is taped to the wall for the reschedule this June. Can't wait. Got a seat on the left to watch the magic. Will be only my 3rd time ever seeing him, but he is the only person I go see now. My favorite artist, period.
Still so amazing and beautiful in playing this super legendary song. I do admire Teacher Hornsby piano's outstanding playing skills. How beautiful...singing mixing with jazz style piano playing. So so beautiful. Respectfully, Doris Peng
The REAL BH....Looks like a Hybrid piano.....heh....why not :) They're so "smart" today...can mimic acoustic piano's so "closely" (...never need to be tuned, no worries about "room acoustics"....)...
Yeah, just noticed that, unusual though for Bruce as normally has acoustic piano with separate piano bar. 1st video I've seen of him not using acoustic piano for this song.
What an inspiring musical career Mr. Hornsby has made for himself. He is living the absolute dream life of any musician.consider the absolute pinnacle of musicians he has been afforded opportunity to play with. What's amazing about this man, is his ability to transition and adapt to different musical styles. Absolute genius.
Absolute genius, Uncle Bruce...can play everything...I mean everything...can play two different songs with each hand...know he plays dulcimer also but who knows what else?
Nice bit I like the original. Piano work made my hair on my neck stand up. To the anus who thinks is a good Tupac song, real music ended the day guys started making music on a computer and ripping off gems like this

What a legend, still as great as he was when he first started. This brought back so many fond memories
Wow, I think myself lucky to have stumbled upon this gem. Can't believe so few views/likes!
Really. It's crazy. What a performance of a classic by one of the greats.
Seriously!
This made the hairs on neck stand up. Amazing, what a talent.
My exact thoughts!
That's when you know it's a gem 😉
Calls it Tupacs song when it was his almost 10 years before that lol. Amazing pianist even till this day.
Tupac? How's that come into it?

Amen Sir! Well, put.
Great Bruce. I didn't expected this magnificent medley. Of Goldberg variations by J.S. Bach !!!

Ha, I love how he claims it’s a Tupac song 🤣
He understands through generations and popularity, Changes is more commonly known. Anyone who delves into music will know who he is. Such a humble guy
He's getting huge royalties from it too.
Just saw him in Austin a couple weeks ago. He said the same thing then. Hilarious! 🙂
😂 then unravels it in the middle, like 🤷♂️

Highly underrated.. Brilliant musician. A seemingly great human being. Great performer. Don't pass up a chance to see him solo or with the band.

Highly underrated??? The man is a legend. Not a day goes by without a radio playing his songs.
Underrated. Lol. 🎹
Wonderful.
As a keyboard player, always admired and loved his playing.
Bach would be happy with the instrumental.
LOL I'll do a Tupac song for you! Bruce is a Westcoast thug!
Sometimes words fall when expressing my feelings for Bruce. He basically touches my soul. Especially with this specific piece due to the classic piano bit. I can honestly say it was through him that I learned to appreciate spontaneity when artists play music.
Beautifully expressed, thank you

He's still that virtuoso! I saw him in 2004 in Grand Rapids....still the best performance I've ever seen in my life!
Man he sounds great. What a legend.
I love how he's changed the song over the past two decades, with every performance. Iteration is such a gorgeous sentiment. What a legend.
The original came out in the 80s.
I really enjoy this "lighter" version.
It's easier for this 42 year old to sing along.
the way it is into bach invention
bruce: sure
Did he slip a little Bach in there?

Bruce accompanied me through the most intense times in my life.
He's Wonderful!
he chance jazz improvisation part to the classical bach style ))
Felt like i was in a piano concert. Warmed my heart 💕

Bach?
i still like the original version where he goes crazy on the keys! not that he doesn’t here, but the vibe is sooo good on the original.
Do what it takes to see this unmatched legend in concert, especially a solo show. Brilliant.
I’m stunned. That was amazing.
Fuckin awesome

Bruce... Sebastian umm Geraldi?! 🤷♂️ 😂 🙏
I heard some Bach inspired solos. this guy is great !
absolutely no words can describe any of this, but especially how underrated this is. Thank you so much to everyone involved for posting this.

One of the best!
Now here is a pretty much alive musician. Great musician too.
I prefer the original rendition instead of this one.
Meh, I still prefer the original 80s’ version (the piano solos and that bass line)...
The range days :)
Love this song
I have always been a Bruce Hornsby fan. This song is Bruce at his best. It should get a million accesses!
I wonder how many times he's played this song now.
Many times but never the same twice! that's his genius.
Impresionante solo de piano ✨👌
For some, we bow more deeply.
Thanks Bruce. Much love from Ohio.
I love him .he’s a man of Conscious and integrity .may Allah bless him
Absolute genius, Uncle Bruce...can play everything...I mean everything...can play two different songs with each hand...know he plays dulcimer also but who knows what else?
he's always piano a piano hero of mine
Absolute legend and classic song 🎵
beautiful
2pac... ❤
AWESOME 😎 I was fortunate to see Bruce at a small venue in Houston, TX late last year. Just Bruce and the piano……a night I’ll never forget ❤
Tupac Changes❤
Something will never change that is you, are beautiful in every aspect… 🤩❤🎉 Thank you 🙏 for the musical talent and inspiration. You rock!!! 👍👍👍🎹🎹🎹🎶🎼🎵
THANK YOU SO MUCH .
Class
What a glorious voice
Genio!!
No “The Way it is” no “Changes”.
One of the best for sure.
wow. period.
The greatest at what he does...Doing what he’s good at...Awesome.
Really really wanted to hear the solos as they were originally played. Instead, it sounded like 17th century piano music😢
what is he playing starting at 2:41?
The first Goldberg Variation
Sounds like Bidenomics…lol
it's a shame that the endings have such a course. I almost didn't recognize the song, but retirement and fatigue is an obvious thing.
Great 2pac song
Lol it's actually Bruce Song that's the joke lol
2 pac stole this song a thief
You can’t steal what was given idiot. Tupac can sample any song as long as he paid said artist
Nice bit I like the original.

From New York. Thanks for seating us with the open "Sticks and Stones." 2018 Revolution Hall. Portland, Oregon
Love Bruce!! Been a fan since the 80s
Bruce Hornsby.......A spiritual force
At one point he goes full Bach.
