Just finished! This is my first proper crochet item I have made for myself and I love it!! I had my doubts with the twist but the tutorial was so helpful!! Thank you 🥰
I'm giving this a try! Love it! Little helpful hint: if you work through the "back bump" of the chain, you'll get a cleaner looking finish on the bottom edge 👍❤
english isn't my fist language but i still managed to understand everything you said, you explained it sooo clearly and this top is gorgeous i love it 🩷
I love that you explained this so clearly!! I just finished it today and it is one of my favorite pieces ever. Will definitely be making more tops like this.🩷
thank you so much! i just finished the shirt, and it’s not perfect but i’m so glad i took the time to do it! it took me like 3-4 days, bc i am a beginner 😭😭
Thank you for the tutorial! I reverse image searched from an obviously fake crochet etsy store and this came up haha. Definitely feel better knowing I'm not supporting a stolen pattern at the very least
Easy pattern and well explained. I did it twice, BUT on my 2nd one I did hdc and cut the string after each row of that colour, then switched. It's much more supple (fits better and doesn't fold), way better, and I personally find it prettier (even if there is a bit more work weaving in all the ends).
@@sourmilkies Wdym? She cut it and worked in the lose ends. I think the other person means, not cutting them at all, bc you start with the new color everytime on one side. So you can leave the yarn attached and just pull it up when you start with it
I made this over the course of a day and I looove the colours. I don’t understand why the back increased so much because when I measured my first long chain there was a big gap between what would be the area where the straps would be but when I was finished I realized that that gap had become extremely small to the point where the shirt is so big now. I only used 95 chains and a 4,5mm hook with half double crotchets and I feel like I’m about the size of you anna but I don’t know what happened because I followed the tutorial word for word. Guess I’ll have to chain a lot less next time.
Hi I’m new to crochet, would it matter if you use cotton or acrylic yarn & are u able to say what weight you’re using?? I also did your shrug tutorial it turned out amazing!!! I love your videos, super easy to follow! Thank you ❤
You can honestly use either, but i prefer cotton yarn for tighter tops like these because it doesn’t stretch like acrylic yarn does. She’s using weight 4 yarn in this vid btw :)
I’m currently following this tutorial and I loooove it, I was wondering if you had a measurement for about how long your top part was for the twist? I believe we are the same size, however I’m only using one skein of yarn instead of two so I think doing 19 rows for the twist may be a tad too small.
Hi, if I want to make two rows of the same color, do I have to "take" the thread of the other color together or will it not work? (sorry, I don't speak English very well) 😊
It's more purple/orange on the different sides because you turned at the end of the rows, making that side the front side for each color when you turned... ;)
Thank you for going thru every detail and answering the questions in my head just when they pop off during my watch but I didn’t understand in the first row after the twist on the second side why did u use just one color? I get that it’s a connecting chain but can’t I connect by using the two strands? Thank you again
just spent 3 days doing this and over estimated it’s stretching ability…… i didn’t losen the strings enough and it completely snapped:( i’m so sad because i was so excited and it looks so amazing, it was also my first project ever. I’m gonna fix the remains of the top piece atleast and keep it for memory
you can! you would just make a wider top than i did and just slip stitch the two sides together at the end. you’ll just have to be really careful to get the measurement right because it won’t be adjustable!
Made it in blue and white, looks extremely beautiful! i chained a few more than u for a size M and it turned out to be a size L somehow.. need to redo it:(
heyy i love the tutorial you are so good at explaining things! the only thing i’m stuck on is how to do the actual twist part of the shirt, for some reason the yarn doesn’t want to twist the way yours does. do you know what the problem might be? like if my yarn is to stiff or maybe i’m just doing it wrong?
heyy! i'm a beginner in crochet and i wanted to use two colors of yarn that i have here, the only difference is the "thickness" of the yarn lines is different and i wonder if there is a problem about that? 💜
you want to make your chain really loose to account for the stretching that will inevitably happen as you add more rows. you ideally want the finished, stretched product to wrap around your front with enough of a gap to add a lace and tie it once you’re done
I just finished making this top, for some reason when I lace up the back and I try it on, the back bunches up and doesn’t lie flat. How can I fix this? If I loosen the lacing then it becomes too loose. Thanks!
hey so the yarn stretches alot and im a 34A/B size. i was wondering if when you chained up to 26 inches...did your project stretch at any point making it longer?
Can I change colors without working over the yarn like that? I feel like it’s wasting yarn or does it make it easier in the process and cleaner outcome?
i’d recommend 2 rows so you don’t need to carry over and work over your other yarn color. that way you can just work with your one color and just drop it at the end and pick up the new color there at the end since you’ll be on the correct side
you just twist it like normal like keep the left end laying down but on the right part of the rectangle, bring it up so the bottom right corner is flipped upwards to now be the top right corner if that makes any sense
Is there anyway I could make this top without the lace back?? I really want to make this and I think it's really cute but I am a begginer and not a huge fan of backless tops
okay so i followed ur pattern and made the chain 26 inches long but i’m on my 16th row for the twist part and it is now abt 30-34 inches long and fits my bust! pls help cus now i can’t do the laces ig x
the issue is that crochet isn’t very stretchy and it’ll be super difficult to get it to your exact size by just crocheting all the way around. you might be able to get away with it if you add elastic to it but you probably can’t get a tight fit by just crocheting a tube top
that’ll make it super easy!! instead of changing colors, just carry on using the same yarn for each row and do all the same things I show in the video. lmk if you have any questions about that :)
@@anna-greene Hi, I've tried making this top like 3 times all the way to the end with the cotton yarn that I mentioned, but it just didn't work. Just finished making this top, I went with dc as I wanted thicker stripes and I love it!! The video/Pattern is super easy to follow!
yayy I’m so glad it was helpful!
is it see-through with double crochet? I'd looove to do double crochets but i dont want to have to wear anything underneath
@riley hawkins I find its a little more see through with dc l, but if you wore a similar coloured bra it should be fine :)
@@rileyhawkins6233 I'd say do sc for the top part and DC for the bottom
@@rileyhawkins6233 yeah it’s a little see through with dc but I sewed some bra cups into mine so I won’t have to wear anything under

If you do two rows of the same color you won’t get that inside outside look! :)
ooo yes great point!!!
I’m working on it that way and it looks cleaner not having to cut the ends of every color!

it definitely tends to get a bit wider as you work and I also recommend making really loose chains so you can better get an idea of how wide it’ll be!

Qual numeração da linha que usou?
ima need a nice lil tutorial on how to do the twist cuz i cant seem to do it
you just twist it like normal
like keep the left end laying down but on the right part of the rectangle, bring it up so the bottom right corner is flipped upwards to now be the top right corner
if that makes any sense
Hi! Can you also make a video to knit a normal sleeveless top? Thank you!
okay so as per our measurment size that many chains we have to make? sorry if i spund dumb this is my first clothing crochet
Is there anyway I could make this top without the lace back?? I really want to make this and I think it's really cute but I am a begginer and not a huge fan of backless tops
if i wanted this top to not have a corset back, would i essentially just crochet the measurement i get from measuring all around my bust?
unfortunately it’s not that simple since crochet has no stretch and you’d either not be able to get it on or it would be too loose to stay up
@@anna-greene ahh yes that makes sense, thank you for responding :)
is there anyway to do a closed back instead of the threaded back?
hey ik this is kind of late but i’m pretty sure that top is originally from a brand called gimaguas
how would you make the lower part smaller because my bust is bigger than my waist and it makes the top look to big
Ik I'm a bit late to answer your question but you could try do an invisible decrease on the bottom half which would make it smaller

had the same problem, u have to stretch ur chain to the farthest when ur measuring the 26 inches
Trust! Do hdc and cut at the end and switch colours.

i have a question. i think i chained too many for the cutout and it turned out gappy. is there a way to fix it without straying over?
I did this too, hoping it fixes itself if i keep going ...
So when you say continue the pattern like so (for the top part) do we continue to chain 1 every beginning of row?
yes! that is your turning chain that lets you go up to the next row
Do you think you can make it in one color?
Yeah 100% I don’t think it rly matters

Is it possible with this pattern to just chain straps from the top and turn it into a cross back?
yes, you could do that!
I’m a beginner in crochet overall, but my crochet work always tend to bend and crook and they are never as straight as yours. How do I prevent that🫣
it's all about the tension and if not, then check for the right hook size
