Praise the Voice (Lyrics)
And here I thought we all agreed
Take this hand of hope
And leave the world to bleed
For a place too bright to see
Can we still behold
Forest for the trees
But here in the dark
I feel nothing
I see no one
No solace at all
We once heard the lasting call
But now we...
Praise the void
For this love, wasted love
Praise the void
We found nothing is enough
You tell me hope's too bright to be
Tomorrow's just a fabrication of our dreams
Here in the dark
I feel nothing
I see no one
Is it the end you want to see?
Here in the dark
We feel nothing
We see no one
Is it peace for only me?

For those who didn’t purchase their deluxe vinyl box set, they have a book for their lyrics and on the song praise the void you’ll see all the way at the bottom it says “From the forthcoming album Exile.” They might actually have a different version of this song on their upcoming album called “Exile.”
Thanks for this comment. I was a bit underwhelmed by this album
I'm gonna guess that's the official metal version, going by the War/Peace pattern.
@@sharoonaftab8894 dang, I think it's beautiful tho
@@sharoonaftab8894 i mean it was no secret this was an acoustic album with mostly old songs.. lol, were you expecting something else?

Demon Hunter hunts the demons of my life, and so they did with all of their fans. Do not stop making these awesome themes.
If you are a devout christian or not demon hunter cares about all us fans, I know when I have had bad days they are usually one of the metal bands I listen too, I have almost all their albums except war & peace, and their very first album that is just how dedicated of a fan I am
Loved am live with as I lay dying during their tour for the powerless rise release got that CD half off for throwing down my demons in the pit way to hard this is pure poetry
Short version ☝️.... 💯🔥🖤💪
@@danielcook7975 I agree I’ve found hope and renewed strength from God through their songs too many times to count.
The Bible does mentions demons being driven away by music. God bless you
One of my favorite bands of all time! God bless you all
aye Demon Hunter is the first band I ever traveled for to watch. also just listened to an old mixtape I made that had "Humble" on it. was one of the first rap songs that got me back into Christian rap.
Me too, Brother🤘🙂🤘
Depression is a very hard emotion to deal with. I hope that this song can touch the ones who need it
Been raised in pentecostal church over 30 years, fighting depression, remorse that I am not successful over 11 years. I got days when all I have in back of my head is suicide.
No sermon, or bible verse helps me as much these guys do
@@dead4jah49 pray to be self delivered, renounce those spirits of depression and suicide
This entire album gives me strength to stand my ground in the name of the holiest of holies. We are warriors....
We are scholars.
I think this hauntingly beautiful song is Ryan reflecting on the haunting *tragedy* of a friend facing death who has walked away from the "hand of hope" that Ryan knows [faith in God] -which means "tomorrow" [after we die] we "leave the world" and exchange it "for a place too bright to see" [heaven]. Ryan "thought we all agreed" that he and his friend had "heard the lasting call" to faith in eternal life.
His friend now feels “hope is too bright to be” and heaven is “just a fabrication of our dreams” so the friend laments that they have “found nothing" [no hope] "is enough”. Tragically they are left numb "in the dark" facing death with no "hope", "no solace" they "feel nothing". They accept if there is nothing after death then the love they give and experience in this life is just “wasted” - it means nothing as the universe neither knows nor cares. So they are left to hauntingly “Praise the void” as they mourn the meaningless of death hopeless
Ryan is gently coming alongside his friend "move from I to we" and reaching out to his dear friend asking “Is it the end you want to see?”, “Is it peace [heaven] for only me?” - hoping his friend would again “Take the hand of hope” which is lovingly held out to all of us.
Well said!!
This is why I listen to Metal/Rock. It's poetry filled with nuance. Sometimes it delivers a profound message.
"Lyrically, and thematically, the song takes on a concept of the "void" is what happens after death. Some people feign death to be this sort of comfort in nothingness. They find comfort in thinking death, or the nothingness that they think it brings, takes away the darkness of life. To me, that concept is silly.
A lot of my songs take a sarcastic approach when I write. This one could be seen as a sarcastic praise song for the absence of God. The sarcasm is natural for me and usually comes out in the verses of songs and then a hopeful, or first-person, chorus. This song is opposite that structure, but still sarcastic to the concept it is about as I play the devil's advocate often." >>> www.newreleasetoday.com/article.php?article_id=3159
I thought it was for the world since it’s all I’ve been seeing around me and it hurts I had no idea how personal it was. So such a big God is working.
@@lexmetalisassessoriaeagenc6219 you know it’s funny you say that because it’s hard for me to sing the lyrics knowing he’s not actually telling us to praise the void and as I sing along I have to in my mind know the sarcasm to the verse lest I actually believe myself and understand that’s what others are praising and I’m a sing alonger I admit never in front of other people that would be annoying but thats how I noticed it couldn’t be true for him personally because singing it almost feels like blasphemy until I realize I’m putting myself in someone’s shoes and it’s hurting my heart that people will go to hell… just a choice and a merciful gift and their missing it.
Wow. And I thought I cried all the tears I had to give at Dead Flowers.
I love these versions of DH's songs. Creative and refreshing vocals.
It is not a version, it is an original brand new song, bro...
@@mateoperez5728 He pluralized both "versions" and "songs", so I assume he meant the album as a whole. But yeah, this is the only song where his comment could have been misunderstood.
It`s really beautiful song
Tears, happy happy tears. Just beautiful.
Pray for those who love self over God. As they stumble in the darkness of this world may they find the light of Christ. ☧
Is this a new song? I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before
Yes
It is a new song, that they were planning on putting on an upcoming album, but decided to remaster it acoustically and release it on this album....... The heavier version is still upcoming, but consider this a teaser
@@MustangRacerZX After listening this so much now... hearing it as heavy will be very odd.
Might be their best ballad yet, and that says a lot
Finally its out, loved that song so much at the Livestreamconcert. :3
Just magic. This song has all the emotion that christian music should
This song (as well as all of Demon Hunter’s music) has all the deepness of lyrics that Christian Music should. Unfortunately, most Christian Music (especially a lot of worship songs I’ve heard) lacks said deepness.
Ryan’s voice tho 😍
Insanely impressive he's still so dang talented. Usually metal vocalists voices die after a few years. But Ryan's is still perfect after so many years.
@@Jxudo Ryan Clark kept changing his vocal range with each album hence why each album has those melodic ones in them, I am sure he lost his voice more than once lol especially with some of the more heavy songs where he screams his ass off lol
This song is beautiful and I hear this song whenever someone that I know passed away, Ryan Clark sounds like an angel in this one 🥺
I can't wait to hear a heavy version of this song!!
Is this a new song? I’ve never heard it before
This is a new song, yes
Fr though, that would actually be sick if they did this album but heavy
It is a new song, I am not sure if they are gonna release a heavy version
@@mateoperez5728 never know next year they could release a new album and could do a metal version of this song would not be the first time a band did something like that

This album is so beautiful, thank you
Ryan Clark sings like an angel from heaven in this song, and it's getting me teary eyes because it's beautiful and hopefully 😇🙏❤️
Hauntingly beautiful. Love it!
Stars shine all the brighter in the dark. No love is Ever wasted. Be at peace eternal void.
This is the most beautiful and soulful song that I have heard. I love this band. The song broke through to tears😢. Thank you very much that you exist and create such soulful songs❤
Am a huge Demon Hunter and love this acoustic album so much. This song is amazing. Just recently saw an interview with Ryan Clark and i can so identify with him and Demon Hunter's music.
I never thought I'd reach the day when they'd release a song more beautiful and sad than deteriorate and helpless hope. Wow, man, they really did create a tearjacker...
Wow Amazing... ❤
Like I said on the other songs.... please do carry me down....please please please.
And thank you very much for what you are doing, with your original songs, and the resurected songs.
This is the most powerful sing I've ever heard. Hit me right in chest like a brick. Many will relate.

Beautiful
What a great band! Love from Greece!
Great song, nice chord progression to fiddle with on the 'ol ivories.
this album lived up to and surpassed my expectations! so good!
Happy Songs of Death and Resurrection Day!
Beautiful just beautiful , this song means something , the second I heard it it reassured me what I already knew god is real , that's what this song means
I'm still kind of new to Demon Hunter. I've known about them for years. Hell, I even got to see them live once when they toured with Red around 9 or 10ish years ago. I knew I was seeing a popular band but looking back, I didn't know I got to see greatest before I knew how amazing lyrically DH is.
The reason I wanted to make this post is I wanted to share my personal interpretation for the song Praise the Void.
The first time I heard this, I thought it was just an outright new song made exclusively for the album, not realizing it was just being released first before the newer version that I still have yet to hear.
This was the first song that hit me hard, but after reading other people's interpretations, I felt mine was significantly different.
My interpretation is rather depressing. I felt it was about a person realizing in life that no matter how hard they try to fight in this world to be sinless, they're going to fail and it hurts every time you break it. However, the person who is consistently breaking their vows to try and not sin are surrounded by people who do not care about God or Jesus.
When I see the lyrics "Wasted love" I feel it meant that God still loves all of his children, but there are people who couldn't care less what he would feel or do for them.
Followed by Wasted love, you see the lyrics "We found nothing is enough." It mentally hurts to see that line. I felt that no matter how hard you try, your sin by definition means that no matter how you sin, it's technically not enough to be saved from hell. "Nothing is enough" to truly be saved from hell, and that hurts so bad to think about.
The idea of praising the void just makes me think of how many celebrate the fact they do not have to worry about a creator in their life so they live with nothing in their life and as Christians, that's one of the most painful things you'll ever see. Not being able to save everyone is one of the most hurtful things we have to live with.
"Is it the end what you want to see?" followed with "is it peace for only me?" Signifying that knowing the only way to save those is to introduce them to God and Jesus, but there are so many people could care less.
We are saved by the grace of God and believe many of us will make it to our temples when we die. But living with the sad thought of "how little is not enough to be saved?" Plagues me based on how so many people just disregard things in their lives.
Sorry if I over thought any of this. That's just the message I still get when I listen to this song and though it's lyrically such an amazing song, it's one of the more depressing songs I've heard.
If you managed to read this entire thing, thank you for humoring my interpretation of the song.
Beautiful.
Thank God for Demon Hunter
Oh my lord, this is absolutely mesmerizing, Demon Hunter never fails.
Thank you for this gift of a new song. Never stop.

This song moves me to tears😢😢
The lyrics are why I love this band!
Incredibol
Just might be my new favorite!
ryan is a great singer
I miss you Ray Ray not a moment passes that I don’t praise the void you left behind, happy 2 heavenly birthday I love you
I feel this way about my dedication to music as an outlet and a mental medicine and never have time to jam and my jam bros never hit me up to even just jam I'm not looking to go big just haven't had a jam sesh since 2012
Pain takes many forms physical mental emotional but the pain i feel is a combo of all three I can't even remember all the times my world has collapsed in on me it's only amongst the rubble have I ever found purpose everytime I'm at my lowest does it seem the people I love come around or that I find love but when I'm on the up I lose it all again countless times but I've somehow found a way to push through even when it felt physically mentally and emotionally impossible so for all those whos worlds are in shambles who find it impossible to keep going you can push through it as hard as it seems it's possible stay strong and fight on.

god i love you guys.
My interpretation of this song is the love and worship of self, celebrities, vanity, attention and dare I say intellect or knowledge. To push your entire life to accomplish these things and miss out on the grace of God is a tragic thing.

Very true
Little late needed this tonight
How can someone love me without knowing me?
I had the song “Praise Adonai” playing through my head with Ryan singing. Maybe someday a praise and worship cover album from DH?!?
It would have to be one of his side projects like NYVES. DH can't go that direction. It's risky enough just doing a strings album.
oh man, i would buy that so fast... tbh it'd be refreshing in the face of so much empty fluff from the industry. i can expect these guys to do anything they do honestly.
I asked Ryan a while back if they would do a hymn/ worship type of song/album and... Frankly, he seemed rather offended and quickly said that they would not because they grew up with only that type of music and the reason they were doing metal was to get away from praise and worship songs. 🤷🏼♂️
Maybe enough time has passed since then. I know I'd enjoy it if they did.
@@Given119 well and now i think about it, "praise and worship" not really what i'd want from them anyway... more like modern hymns, which would be far more worthy and fitting. i guess i forget there's a very real difference, even if the labels don't give that impression. i don't listen to k-love or any of that bs, but the Gettys have written some solid stuff, as well as bands like Renascent. i don't blame Clark for a second
In my opinion, there is a difference between Christian Music and Worship Music. There’s some unexplainable line between the two, the main one being in my experience, Christian music (primarily Christian metal) has deeper lyrics. I grew up with Project 86 and Demon Hunter, so top priority in making a great song, especially a Christian one, is deep lyrics. As explained by Random Action Verb Worship’s “The Worship Song Song” and Blimey Cow’s “How to Write a Worship Song in 5 minutes,” most worship music lacks depth. That’s not to say there isn’t any deep worship music out there, but it’s needles in haystacks. Of course, this is all just my opinion saying I don’t think Demon Hunter doing worship music is a good idea at all.
A solar flare at the blackest of dawns hits the final switch.
I see Demon Hunter, I click it.

Can someone tell me what this song means? English isn't my first language (:
I don't know yet, exactly...but they used the expression, "Can we still behold (the) Forest for the trees" and thought it interesting they didn't use the word "the" before "Forest"...so it's like they're asking if they could still behold "Forest"... and my name is Forest, so here I am! 🤓🤷😜🔥😎🖤💯

Is it just me or do you feel a call and response feel? Like this needs two singers
🌜💖🌛 Praise the Void
Can we get an album where all of the heavy songs get redone, but even more heavy and insane? Better yet, how about an album of just straight metal bangers! DH has always had the heavy/soft dichotomy, but I've always wanted them to just embrace the heavy. You know, like Storm the Gates of Hell, Cross to Bear, Someone to Hate, type stuff.
That wouldn't be a real DH record. But there is War for example, almost entirely heavy. Don't know why you don't like melodic singing though.
Agreed! Demon Hunter does a solid ballad but I've really been wanting them to embrace their heavy side more. Outlive had a lot of soft music, Peace was all soft, and this album is all acoustic renditions. I know bands like to evolve and try new things but I really love the heavy stuff.
