I read somewhere that this song is about mourning our loved ones after they pass away. The lead singer writes his heavier songs toward the beginning and the slower towards the end of the process. This song in particular has a lot of double meanings in this song. 1) Flowers who are laid on the graves of the dead are also used to help heal the broken hearts of the living. 2) Water that is so necessary for life is no longer needed by the dead but is given up by the living in mourning the dead. 3) The sun that is also necessary for life is given to us by the Son of God who gives us life.
The bagpipes at the end remind me of my dad telling me about how his grandfather (I think) had a traditional Scottish or Irish funeral with bagpipes. Odd that I find this right after realizing that.
I was wondering what this song was about, but when my grandpa passed away and saw the meaning behind it. It all made sense, it brought me to tears, it's kinda hard listening to this song but i still do. It's like a tribute.
I saw an interview with Ryan Clark on this song. There is SO much depth and hope in these lyrics, all on purpose.

That's how it was for me with their song: "Carry Me Down", after our father past away, from cancer; in 2006- soo deeply personal. I've only recently in the last 2-3 months, discovered this song AND dived into the meaning of the lyrics: soo powerful 🤘🤠🤘

really cool new take, one of my old faves from this band.
I'm a nonbeliever. I grew up Christian, but somewhere along the way, lost that. I still listen to Demon Hunter to remind myself of a comforting feeling I had with faith, or possibly to mourn that I'll never feel that again.
This band is highly underrated.

I know this is late….. but with the recent events happening in Afghanistan, this song only reminds me of the collapse of the Afghan society, the 13 fallen US service members, the Americans left behind, and the shameful decision to not do better over there. This truly is a haunting song, and after applying it to those events, it’s haunting and heart-breaking.

🥴 yeah I have demon Hunter songs of death and Resurrection cd. I just don't like it, it's not what I thought it would be. I just wasted $13.00 for nothing.Don't get me wrong here, I love demon Hunter and they are a fantastic band and all that but I just can't get into this cd. Actually to be honest, it sounds more like a solo album than a demon Hunter cd
I sorry to say it because Demon Hunter is one of my favorit bands, but vocals are complete shit sometimes
