@@Morusmedienpool Thank you very much. Yes I have been sharing this with my friends. I am interested in history, like to work with my hands, and practice martial arts. I am specifically interested in the earlier pre Roman Celtic European time period, but there were many similarities with the Viking era. I think I need to find a Viking group so I can start that combat training. With gratitude from Brisbane, Australia.
@sharmanah, wow, you are from Australia, which will make it not easy to find a Viking group ,-) - but I can make a contact to Alban, the "Jarl of Jomsborg" and maybe you can open up the first Jomsborg Elag in Australia (like the french guys in part 8 - who built the first fortress in france.) As far as I know the next elag is in New Zealand, about 5 or 6 members are joining the group. I believe the skills of the viking movement (like reliability, trust, sustainability and the love of nature, the readiness to help others) are special and unique and hardly needed in our todays society, where everything is so inhuman. It only could help to have these "viking skills under your belt", as Cullum from new Zealand said in an episode. To look back in history may help to shape also the future. Please keep on your handcrafts and physical training in martial arts and let us know, when you are ready to be our next "21st Century Viking". We would love to do a video with you in Brisbane and would do it right away, no matter if the views in Australia will be less then in Europe. Let´s keep in contact and a big hug to you and your wife from Evi

shindo200 Werter shindo200, wo wohnt ihr und was macht ihr? Ein "richtiger Haufen" sind wir wohl nicht, sondern nur ich - Evi - auf dem Kanalbild mit Kamera + Klaus. Wir sind nicht einmal Reenacter, aber wir lieben das Viking Reenactment. Teil 5 ist -> "Wollin 2014 - Das Fest der Slawen und Wikinger", es ist das Highlight der Szene in jedem Jahr... und bald wird es ein neues Abenteuer geben, wir arbeiten schon daran. Morusmedienpool Heyl Dir Dir, Heyl Evi, Heyl Klaus. Na, wir sind auch nur zwei. Dieses Wochenende treffen wir einen Dritten beim Mittelalterfest "Hohenbeilstein" bei Heilbronn. Wir kommen aus 88630 nähe Bodensee und wir gehen seit zwei/drei Jahren auf Mittelaltemärkte. Stetig kommt der Wunsch zur Aussage, selbst ein Teil dieser Heerlager zu werden, sich zu vereinen / sich zu treffen, gemeinsam "unsere" Welt aus zu leben. Hah,ha,ha,... wir verbessern unser "Outfit" stetig besser. Du verstehst? Was eben fehlt, sind Gleichgesinnte. ___ Euer / Dein Komentar / Videos sind richtig knorke. Wir waren zuletzt in Reutte/ Tirol und solch eine Herzlichkeit / Zusammengehörigkeitsgefühl findet man auf keinen anderen Festen. Ich weiß, daß Du weißt, was ich meine. ____ Möge Alvatar sein wachsames Auge über euch halten, mögen die Nornen euer Schicksal wohl weben. Und möge Thors Hammer die Gesichter eurer Feinde zerschmettern.
From what i have read and heard, the lamellar type of armour is highly debated for the use or not in use in the viking era and chosen by reenactors only due to the lighter alternative to chainmail...true or not?
Hi Bullski123, here is the answer to your question: lamellar is super Rare in the Viking world...72 plates of 9 different types were found at Birka, but thats all from Scandinavia.In reenactment its very over used, not because its lighter but because its better protection for what we do..and its a huge trend because people think it looks cool. Reenactment should not always be taken as realistic, in some cases yes, but in most not.
Great video, authenticity of all those Gambesons is a bit sketchy but its refreshing to see people so passionate about their hobby!
