I used to try to do that chromatic riff with that bend you're doing. It's the biggest mind fuck he ever pulled on me. He's not bending at all, strictly playing a chromatic pattern that sounds just like bending.

+Andrew Arthur actually I'm going through a small Line 6 amp using its built in effects. Live I would probably play it through my Fender valve amp and a Supa Tonebender Fuzz. The Seymour Duncan pickups also help get a good tone.:)

Yah, that main riff doesn't just sit on that Eb. It also has the Db chord involved.

I always played it with an E flat 7#9 Hendrix chord, then Dflat major chord. I’m an idiot, so don’t take anything I say too serious. It does sound cool with the Hendrix chord though.

I just can't even believe that this is a thing. I remember mid-80s driving around town with my girlfriend. We both locked Prince but for some reason I always gravitated to this one. And I made her just suffer through while I was a jamming to the guitar solo. For whatever reason and I'm not a rocker best part of the song just hit me hard. So I guess I was a rocker back then when I understood what was the best guitar piece ever played. Who would have thought that

In a raw form yes./perfection requires more listening to the original song. You are close but missing sooo much.....2 make it musical..... its not memorizing frets/notation/phrasing... its about making music,, but this is an instructional video so kudos!!
