    It's not an F# minor. It's a D major with an F# in the bass. It makes a huge difference.

      I would not try f# minor twice. So out of place (at least if you have heard Prince' s song ... l

      I like playing the D maj with F# in the bass... check out the official video, it looks like he is playing an F#min7 ua-cam.com/video/l7vRSu_wsNc/v-deo.html ... but I agree that sounds funky to my ear

    Excellent!! Could you provide a tutorial on the muffled acoustic part that is at the beginning of the music video and long version? The part where he walks out and Wendy is playing the guitar and he steps on stage and clears his throat.

    First of all great video's, you do an amazing job in Prince songs. One foot note and I could be wrong but I always thought of it as for a G chord if you add an A it's Gadd2, if you play the G chord and add an A instead of the B it's Gsus2, if you play G chord with A and F (7th) then the 7th + 2nd =9th.

    • @thejaseguitar
      @thejaseguitar  7 років тому

      Yes, you're right. In my head I tend to think of it as a ninth so just said that as I was talking through it, but technically yes it is a sus2.

    fantastic. Accurate, well played, no rubbish , eleven out of ten

    I’m quite convinced that that third chord should also be a complete D chord with a F# in the bass, instead of your F#m, or am I just hearing it incorrect? Thanks again!

    I have always played a D with your thumb on the F sharp rather than a F sharpe minor?

    • @thejaseguitar
      @thejaseguitar  8 років тому

      Yeh, that works too. I don't use my thumb very much which is why I guess I play it like this :)

  • @joenelson7995

    Great tutorial! I appreciate the A9 analysis. But the F#m is probably not what prince played. I'm hearing a D in that chord.

    • @thejaseguitar
      @thejaseguitar  4 роки тому +1

      I thought that at first, but then I thought I heard a C# in there too. So perhaps it's D major 7 which has the same notes as F#minor/D.
