Me too! Also i cant imagine someone like shaun, a sensitive teenager experiencing prison lightly or not changing because of it. Prison changes most people but man poor sean all he wanted was a good life for his brother and himself and to draw and shit and plus their father got killed... i feel genuinely heartbroken for him.
yea... I think it would be extra hard for Sean too, because the prison guards will view him as a "cop killer." IRL, that draws even worse / more brutal treatment from the COs
Especially after so much shit that’s happened to him, being attacked by numerous racist bigots, being condemned for actions he did not commit, losing an eye, being humiliated on the road, being beat up, etc. He went through hell and back for his brother and his brother will forever carry that weight and guilt of what Sean did for him, that’s why I feel the second ending with Daniel being the one imprisoned at home is the better option. The brother are separated but nothing separates their spirit.
Not gonna lie, I lost it and almost started crying when Lyla jumped into Sean's arms in the ending. You could just tell how much he means to her, regardless of whether you ship them, or just see them as friends.
I ghosted Lyla both times, In the first episode the game makes u think that you are being tracked so I thought i'd hold my temptation and stay under the radar. Didn't contact her at all, or used the web, thinking I was doing the right thing and that it might pay off in the end. It was misleading, cause in the end it didn't matter with all the trouble they caused.
its called Life is Strange because of the supernatural element...plus everything that happens in it is weirdly true of life even if it is painful and sad and...other things.
Depending on how you taught Daniel, it will influence how the situation will turn out. To answer your question, yes, there is an ending for that but you have to make him care for only himself and his brother.
The surrender ending really made me upset. I cried so much when I saw Sean come out of the prison ,he was so broken and tired... he didnt deserve 15 fucking years in prison thats all. And when he cried in the camping site i cried as well... just i cannot imagine how he mustve felt thinking about the life he lived and all the years wasted behind bars. Fucking hell. Poor Sean.
Edit Merkaj I took this as Sean had no time to mourn his father since he was looking after Daniel and keeping him safe (along with your reasoning) and that broke him down!
same. it's so bizarre to me that this ending is called "Redemption." Sean doesn't deserve all this pain, and prisons just break people. I don't see where "redemption" plays in, or even really what Sean needed to be "redeemed" for?
Fucking same - I cried so much that my eyes actually started to hurt and one of my dogs came to comfort me (he's not trained to - he just comforts people whenever he sees them crying and it's really fucking cute and appreciated lol). It was still, oddly, my preferred ending, as much as it broke my fucking heart
People really do hunt people coming from Mexico, my friend disowned his whole family because they do this he the "black sheep" and refused to do this with them, and when they found out he had hispanic friend they messaged all the one he had on his facebook telling us to leave or they "make us". My grandparents and my dad made the trip to the united states, if you don't how bad it is look up stories from people coming from El Salvador my dad made that trip, he is the strongest man i know, but when he talks about him coming over he you can tell he has such trauma from it he tell me that he saw people die and get shot and taken because they didn't do the right thing at the right time And for those who don't know the states don't have an official language some parts do tho but over all they don't
I hate that we have people that treat foreigners like animals. Nobody should be hunted down like that for trying to have a better life. That said I have some experience with the opposite side, my uncle lost his job because his boss hired an illegal immigrant to cut costs. It’s not that we’d don’t care about those people who are trying to escape poverty, but we just can’t support that many people. The US is already getting more and more crowded with citizens and refugees from the Middle East, and we’re running out of room. There’s also the fact that when someone crosses illegally they aren’t on the America’s books as a citizen, so they won’t have to pay taxes. 1 person doing that doesn’t hurt anyone, but when whole families are coming in and end up doing this it harms the people of the country, because then you’re taking resources without giving back to the country. I personally don’t have a problem with immigration as long as it’s done by the book. It sucks that the wait is so long and that it can take years for someone to be admitted, but there are so many people applying that we have to be careful about letting too many people in. America isn’t some mythical promised land like it used to be, we have limited resources and space, we can’t just keep letting people in.
There are 4 endings and 7 variations: 1) Redemption (Sean goes to jail) 2) Sean goes to Mexico and Daniel stays in the States 3) Daniel goes to Mexico and Sean dies 4) Sean and Daniel both go to Mexico
Christopher Tan 2 is the ending I got as well, at first I was really sad because the brothers are separated. However, seeing the other endings I very satisfied with my ending.
This game brings some issues to light about the justice system. Like they will tear families apart and cut corners instead of actually looking into what the suspect has to say half the time. The racism aspect is very accurate and i have dealt with some people like those “vigilantes”. Having the story be about brotherhood really strengthened the story in my opinion since i have siblings and would do anything to protect them so having Daniel with Sean helped with choices cause ultimately this story is about protecting him and not getting caught Sorry i just wrote my thoughts so this may not make any sense lol
As a lesbian mexican I feel so incredibly represented and validated by life is strange. It touches my feelings deeply, and I hope they continue to bring up even more problems and minorities to be represented. I liked the story and the meaning of LIS 2, and I honestly think they made the endings "bad" on purpose. To express how it's never fair in this system, and instead provoke sadness in people with the endings
That's why you play twice in each location here. Dragging time. Twice the hiking trail, twice exploring the trailer park. This episode was empty and dull 'gameplay'-wise, but at least the endings are substantial.
@@calistusjay60 I know exploring is a part of LiS and I am glad if you enjoyed it! But many people are only into it if they feel like there is a motivation behind it (most people probably wanted to do main story in Away and find out a bit about Chloe and Max). They just dragged it out here because the episode has literally no content but the ending and you could show a 10 minute cutscene for everything that happened in Away before they left (it would be even worse to do that but the problem is you could). So far I am not happy with how sloppy (in my opinion) they have been on both of the 5th episodes. They did the same with the dream sequence in LiS 1. I wish they would have taken their time to either make better episodes or just make 4 longer episodes to not leave one so empty.
The moral of that ending was that Sean had been sacrificing himself throughout the whole game for Daniel. Choosing this ending means you were also looking after Sean too. One kid's life isn't worth more than the other
(SPOILERS ahead, very long comment) Per the official LiS UA-cam account's endings video ( ua-cam.com/video/fDR5Q5DSnIM/v-deo.html ), there are 7 endings (really, 4 endings with 3 minor variations). Which one you get mostly depends on a combination of Daniel's "morality" score, and your final decision: *Redemption (Surrender - High Morality)* - Sean goes to prison for 15 years, continues to draw, and comes out fairly broken emotionally, but has a white glass eye presumably symbolizing moral goodness. brotherly sacrifice. Daniel lives a "normal" life (um, as much as you can with superpowers and massive trauma of dad murdered, brother in prison, gunshot wound, etc...). in non-variation version, only Karen and Daniel appear to greet Sean when he's released. *Redemption (Surrender - High Morality)* | Lyla varation - this is the outcome you got. I assume you have to call Lyla in Eps 1/2 to achieve this, but idk. *Lone Wolf (Surrender - Low Morality)* - this one's tragic af. Sean says "surrender," but Daniel refuses, taking control of the car with his powers and crashing the border gate. after he gets through, he realizes that Sean (sitting next to him, in the driver's seat) is dead - possibly from border agent bullets. Daniel remains in Mexico and goes to Puerto Lobos, where he mourns Sean and Esteban at a makeshift memorial, steals from tourists and a bank, and has some violent conflict(s) with gang(s) (???). they are no match for Daniel's power. he also drinks beer, has a memorial tattoo to Sean on his chest, maybe some arm ink, and changes hair color to blonde. *Parting Ways (Cross The Border - High Morality)* | Sean alone - Sean tells Daniel to get them through the border by force, and Daniel reluctantly complies. However, before they're through the gate, Daniel tucks-and-rolls out of the car, telling Sean to go on without him. "I hope you'll be happy in Mexico." Daniel lives under house arrest with his grandparents in Beaver Creek, and uses his powers to save a schoolbus from careening into a lake (callback to LiS1 concept art?). Sean goes on to Puerto Lobos, and sends photos to Daniel. *Parting Ways (Cross The Border - High Morality)* | Sean with Cassidy - same as above, but Cassidy's with Sean in one of the photos (your 2nd ending is this) *Parting Ways (Cross The Border - High Morality)* | Sean with Finn - same as above, but Finn's with Sean in one of the photos (I got this one in my playthrough) *Blood Brothers (Cross The Border - Low Morality)* - Sean says to get through the border, Daniel willingly agrees. cops open fire, Daniel stops bullets and does superpower stuff to crash through more effectively than in Lone Wolf. looks like all the cops/agents/etc are dead? (then again, self-defense). Sean and Daniel both go to Puerto Lobos, stay together, open a repair shop, come into conflict with same gang(s) as in Lone Wolf. I think they both have tattoos and drink beer, Sean smokes, Sean has a black glass eye. (This is the ending I like best, and would consider headcanon. I realize DONTNOD considers this the "bad ending," so much like Life is Strange 1, looks like I'm a "bad endings" player :D)
@Papito Diaz OK. I listed all of the ones shown on the official Life is Strange account's video titled "ALL 7 ENDINGS - Episode 5 - Life is Strange 2" and I am not aware of an ending where both of them die. do you have a link to that? here is the link to the one I mentioned: ua-cam.com/video/fDR5Q5DSnIM/v-deo.html
@@saharasafari4529 that certainly would reflect the devs' views on morality. personally I would question whether a lot of the decisions called "immoral" by the game's ranking system were universally immoral, or just reflect the devs' personal views? for example, if a kid is starving and about to face a freezing night outdoors, I wouldn't judge him *at all* for stealing food and shelter. I would not call that "corruption" of his soul; he's just living in different circumstances, with different needs and priorities, than the devs.
thanks for listing and describing all of them! 😊 i was really curious and you saved me some time. youre right, the lone wolf ending is so fucked up... poor daniel
@@AlienZizi np! right when the game 1st came out, there was a lot of confusion about how many endings, and how do you get each ending etc so - figured I'd clear things up if anyone needed. anyway - thanks for the comment, hope you have a great day :D (p.s. yeah that ending *hurts* to watch... do not recommend...)
That's what I thought. It made sense to me immediately bc the government suddenly has a super powered kid that's angry about many things. That kid can't really be used as a weapon bc he'd know he's being used (again) and wouldn't let others force him. On the other side, they can't put him in jail, nor let this whole story out to the public. So I imagine they know Daniel has powers and monitor him constantly, but for the public he's a normal kid.
can i just say i really appreciate when you two go on long rants about things mid-game because i get to learn a lot about situations and issues i have yet to educate myself about. it really sucks that reality operates so unfairly. this game isn't without flaws but the discussions it enables are so valuable and i wanna thank you for engaging with it in a respectful yet no-bullshit manner. even the lil things you pointed out, like how policemen offering you drinks can be manipulative, i didn't know about. please know i highly respect you two as people because you just care so much. and fuck the police lol
I understand that it's a more realistic ending, but after having watch Sean go through hell and back part of me really hoped he'd finally get a happy ending. I had hoped that they'd show that the people that have to try so incredibly hard do finally get their break, that all of it was really worth it. Having to wait fifteen years locked up just to get that.. I feel heartbroken yet also empty about that ending
he really did go through hell... Karen left, Esteban killed in front of his eyes, captured and hit by Stamper, hit and threatened at gunpoint by the pot farm owner, lost an eye and woke up in the hospital, attacked by those two racist fucks in the desert... it just goes on and on. and in the "good" ending, for some reason called the Redemption ending, what does he get? 15 years...
@Bigroom Is Life maybe... I remember that Claire & Stephen had that MAGA hat in their home and other hints at their views, and I remember how few poc we saw in Beaver Creek, so I worry a bit whether it's truly a happy place for Daniel. at least he has Chris though. I hope Daniel and Sean could ultimately be together again. after all they went through together, and how closely they bonded, I don't think living apart forever would be a good outcome
Pigtint Sean is fortunate to have gotten 15 years as sad is that sounds. He committed grand theft auto and resisting arrest and assault of those officers near the Mexican border.
I got the "15 years after" too and I think most of us will, as we tried to be a good big brother, but that ending is h e a r t b r e a k i n g. Yes, it's more "realistic", as Sean wouldn't tell anyone about Daniel's power and with no way to explain what happened in Seattle, he'd go to jail... but 15 years man... thank heavens this IS a video game and I can protect Sean from that. And it's not only what happened to Sean. After the woods scene in the ending, the two cars, Sean leaving first, us not knowing if he even howled back... it feels like they are separating anyway. So I feel no guilt going to my second save (where Sean romanced Finn) and getting Sean across that border. This way Daniel stays with family and Chris, has a relationship with his mother AND Sean is doing fine.
@Papito Diaz The security camera was broken by Daniel if you watch the tapes of it in another room. And the vigilantes, or ya know the asshole white people wouldn't testify cause that means helping out someone who isn't the same skin color as themselves, which is obvious they would never do. And the Mexican couple would be consider "unreliable" witnesses because they're "illegals" who tried to break into the country. So having witnesses wouldn't really work out.
Sean & Finn in Mexico, is probably my 2nd favorite ending (after Blood Brothers). I also like that it's pretty close to what Finn said his dream was. And, definitely like that Daniel has a support system (btw- thank goodness they didn't kill of Chris in ep2... still sad about Mushroom...) Something I find interesting about this game, is that I have a different view of what it means to be a "good big brother" - for example, when about to face a freezing rainy night outside, stealing a tent seemed the better option to me than letting my little brother freeze to death. So it's been interesting to see the game judge those decisions as morally bad.
@@epicglitter7218 I so agree! The same thing with robbing Merrill. I know we see Sean as a good boy, but there's a reason there's crime in the world, why people steal or kill, and it's not because these people are "evil". Yes, this is a game, but I can easily imagine a person thinking "the only way I survive is if I steal this", "the only way way I survive is if I strike back". It's great that Dontnod are creating something for us to think about, but these are not simple questions and they don't have simple answers, but it is still a game after all. It's easier for people to label one decision as good and the other as bad, just as they ask us to decide if Sean does or doesn't forgive Karen or Finn, as if it's that easy in reality.
it's really interesting how dont nod portrays crying and gives their characters a watery look in their eye. I noticed it in the first season. sometimes I wish I could see their tears more clearly sometimes but i like how you can see when their tears are welling up. Also. Daniel's anime ass hair lol. And sean wrote a comic while he was in jail!
I hated the ending because it felt so unfair. Then I realized... So is the justice system, so is racism, so is life. And it made me realize... the ending is perfectly unfair.
I mean, it may not be good advice for Sean, but it does give Daniel the best chance at a better life. If they go to Mexico Daniel isn’t getting an education. With Sean in jail Daniel grows up and graduates, he doesn’t have to run anymore. I think Sean will struggle a bit with everything that’s happened, but he’s not alone, he has Daniel, Karen, David, and others that are there for him. It’ll just take time for those scars to heal
David was right though: in all of the other endings, they can never be truly free. With both of them separated = Daniel is being constantly wathed by the police, and Sean can't ever meet him again. They are not even free to see one another properly. With both together on PL = they don't really have the freedom to go wherever they want, they are still fugitives. Sean mentions that he doesn't like cars, but ends up doing the same as his dad. He's not following his own dreams, but his dad's. With Daniel alone in PL = what do I even fucking say about this lmao what a horrible ending... just yikes. In the surrender option, while Sean goes to jail for 15 years, when he comes out, he's totally clean with the law. He can still go to Mexico, he can still meet his friends, meet Cassidy, Lyla, Brody, his gramps, his mom, everyone in Away... he can do whatever he want. And Daniel went through a clean life and was also able to do anything he wanted. Them going camping lowkey shows that. They are once again free in the wild forest. But not being watched nor chased anymore. And both are true to who they were and what Esteban raised them to be: good kids. It's the best ending to me.
Pretty sure "blood is thicker than water" comes from "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb". Like a witch thing - you choose your sisters, you're not born with them
Oh, and an answer for the Victoria thing: From what I understand, if you chose to Sacrifice Arcadia Bay, it was in a timeline where Victoria won the contest, and therefore would have been down in the bunker.
Yep, i think its the timeline where Max goes back to where she took her photo with Warren and told everything she experienced in the bunker to Chloe, convincing her to not enter the party and to tell David everything and make him go for Jefferson instead. Which is why David himself appears in LiS 2.
I can no longer watch this ending. why everyone just wants this ending? It was my first ending, but I can no longer sacrifice Sean to save Daniel, Sean in Mexico with Finn and Daniel with grandparents, best ending.
Hi guys, i remember when i found your channel first time in 2015 when life is strange came out, i was like 12 and barely knew english. I've always enjoyed your commentary and i cant imagine watching a gameplay of a game that i care about done by different youtubers. You guys are so cool and taught me many things, i love u so much and i hope to see many more from you!! Have a nice day, week, month, year, lifetime, u deserve it i wish i could write more but i suck at writing but i just want you to know how much you guys mean to me, even though we dont know each other u guys helped me a lot, love uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuu
Personally, I was ok with the choice of Sean surrendering. But I do think it’s personal experience. I feel Sean’s character so much in his love for Daniel and protecting him. I grew up in an abusive home, and as the oldest, I refused to let my siblings suffer. I would personally take the blame for anything they did wrong, just to spare the abuse they could potentially suffer. When you love your family, and as the oldest, you will do ANYTHING to protect their innocence and to spare them pain. It isn’t something you even hesitate. It’s fucked up, but it is how our lives work. I don’t regret what I did growing up, just because I was able to protect them. And that was what made all the personal suffering I endured. No matter what
Youre definitely not alone in that sentiment. Sometimes family structure is difficult and too unbearable... thanks for sharing your insight! I can relate to you on that front. Take care!
Personally I liked it in concept cause I love a sad and noble sacrifice out of love, but the overbearing sorrow that just went with it down to the very end just left me empty; like I want more time with the characters to see if they'll endure it all. Cause not only is Sean a wreck, but Daniel's sad too as a result, and it's not even like they live together so that they'd overcome it together. I think I'm more comfortable with tragic endings that have a sense of finality to them. I can deal with leaving a character in a story as dead. Leaving them broken is another thing entirely.
@@vindifference but considering the ending of Daniel alone - just how much pain did he have there.... ugh, I can't. And while Sean suffered a lot, I think he will always have Daniel on his side right there to hear him out. When I saw Sean crying, I felt like it was him finally showing all of his pain for the first time, and he could do that because he had Daniel by his side, and Daniel alone. And they can always be there for one another. Freely.
Yeah, as painful as the Redemption ending was I loved it. To be honest, Sean had committed a lot of crimes and I really didn't see how their story could really wrap up in an at all happy way without this.
So, basically you can be one of four things in the end: Good, separated and happy. Good, separated and unhappy. Evil, together and happy. Evil, alone and unhappy. Yeah, evil and together sounds good to me.
I can’t get over Sean’s life being broken by the system so I’m just gonna pretend that second ending is the only one I saw tonight and cry myself to sleep please.
Been looking forward to this. Finished it last night and cried a whole lot. Wish I could see your guys' reactions to all the endings, as some of them get wild. Now to see what you chose! No matter what it's been great following you guys on the Life is Strange journey. The first game is how I found your channel years ago, and I'm so very grateful that I did.
The ending you guys got is the one that made me cry the most. There was another one that I wanted to cry at but I was out of tears by the time I saw it
That would be great to see or with a black protagonist either way I'd be very happy for whichever though I'm pretty sure their next game's main characters are white, hopefully they add diversity somewhere 👍
it was finn's dream beach house, palm trees, and coconut cocktails plus sean's religious grandma being so happy about her bi son makes me way soffter honestly
I agree with you about what you said about Karen. My mom did the same thing to me that Karen did to Sean and Daniel. Before she left I could tell she was unhappy and she definitely took it out on me and my little bro. Sometimes I think ppl think that once someone becomes a parent they stop being human having selfish desires and mental issues but that's not true at all
this game makes me feel like clarified and a bittersweet but free emotion because my mom is a narcissist and i have always been scared that my family or any hypothetical family could never love me if i didn't do what they wanted but in this game sean and daniel still love eachother unconditionally despite everything they have done and experienced and even when they are apart and the wolf brothers carving reduces me to baby because its like Oh wow that can exist holy shit
'Made with the Cry Engine'. Figures. 😭 Seems a false dichotomy being presented sometimes. You can be a compassionate person who cares about the people *in* society, while still understanding that cops are class traitors and that our current social structures are corporatist/fascist AF and need to go. :P *Edit:* Cue Mari, "It's as if someone is making a lot of money from people going to jail..." -- Never mind. They get it. 👏😸
Spoilers for Life is Strange: Am I the only one who sees that people shit so much at the ending of LiS 2 when Sean and Daniel go to Puorto Lobos together, when in LiS 1 you do sth even WORSE but in similar manner- You kill your whole town, family and friends just to save one person and have your happily ever after and people consider it a canon, “good” ending. Wtf man. You can have everything you want in life when you sacrifice everything else in return. Same message. How do people not see it.
This game and story were so incredible. I honestly enjoyed it so much and Sean is def my fav. I was sobbing so much that I have a headache and my heart is so heavy for them. It sucks, Sean deserved better and to see him so broken after jail made me emotionally drained. I really appreciate that yall liked the story and didn’t hate on it bc it wasn’t like lis1. I honestly connected so much to this game and I’m so sad to let it go. Just thinking about all the crap they went through and to serve jail time is so sad. Loved this game and your commentary
Man, Sean and Daniel just kept getting crapped on! 15 yrs in jail, even though he is innocent and there is nothing you can do to clear his name? Man, that rubs me the wrong way! Then again, its Life Is Strange, so I wasn't expecting to be completely happy. Hope there is a LIS 3.Oh, and the one where Sean and Daniel are apart, but happy is my favorite, too!
The "Redemption Ending" is the worst possible ending anyone could have gotten. Worse than if Sean was killed. It's basically the "Sean spends years being tortured, then gets released to a life of severe PTSD and hardship, and he isn't even with Daniel" ending. I've never been to prison, but from what I hear from APS and other ex-prisoner youtubers, it's Hell on Earth. Anyone trying to justify sending Sean to that torture is either kidding themselves or severely ignorant about what goes on in prisons.
I have complex feelings about this episode and Season 2 overall. I feel like I could write a whole essay. Overall I really enjoyed the emotional arc of Sean and Daniel's journey. I think the side characters were all colorful and interesting, but wish they had some chance to shine more. In that respect, something about the episodic format feels like its stifling the story. But then again, the story is supposed to be Sean and Daniel-centric. So. Just...complex feels.
in the first ending, Daniel had a normal, happy life, and Sean lived unhappy, traumatised. that hit me real hard I think we can all relate to that in one way. it's hard
So the comics show what happens after the Bay dies and Chloe is alive, Max still has "powers", but less control. She jumps between multiple timelines, ones with Chloe and ones w/o her. It would be cool to see the comics show Away and David.
Mari didn't even give that cross the border choice a chance to go bad lmao I picked surrender because I expected it would go against everything I taught him not to do
I wished they mentioned Cassidy, Flynn, Sarah-Lee, etc. in the ending, just for closure. Then again i hope they might come up with a little extra episode talking abt their lives after the accident or something
"The message is F the police" Yeah pretty much. It's the only thing that is consistent across all endings. "Bad Daniel has the best ending" Yep, Bad Daniel/Bad Sean is the best ending. "Dontnod knew exactly what they were doing" Correct again, although I saw this troll coming after episodes 3/4 when white knighting gets you nothing but trouble. "This is the worst ending" and "Sean dies at the end" Bad Daniel/Good Sean is probably suppose to be the worst ending cause Sean dies and Daniel hooks up with the cartels. Either way they end up killing a couple of cops instead of saving a schoolbus full of children. I still give this one full credit cause I consider Sean goes to jail for 15 years a worse ending than Sean dies in a shootout. So... Mari nailed it.
regarding Victoria Chase, in the final timeline Max and Chloe stay at home, but they tell David about the bunker. In the bunker, there was empty folder with Victoria's name, so Jefferson was going to kidnap her anyways, so while at the end Max and Chloe are at the lighthouse, deciding the fate of the Arcadia Bay, David is at the bunker rescuing Victoria
thanks for this. I keep forgetting that the entire Dark Room scene gets rewound/undone by Max's photo jump. anyone know where I could see/watch the Victoria letter they mentioned (from LiS2 Ep5)?
Hey Geek Remix, I just want say thank you for taking me and other watchers on this journey. I always liked you Let's Play! Keep it on! Btw. It would be total rad if you react to the two other endings there are. ;)
Seeing Sean and Daniel reunited after 15 years made me cry... And then Sean cried, and I cried some more. Thank you for sharing this playthrough and your thoughts!
yea Blood Brothers is my favorite ending :). the camera lingers on Daniel's face a lot, and the music's a bit moody, so I get this sense the game wants me to regret my decisions but I absolutely don't lol. they're alive, together, and free!
Thank you, Mari and Stacy. Now I know why people are arrested unjustly. You guys always have something relevant to say about, like politics, and such. Thank you.
About that bit at 1:21:00 My personal theory is that Daniel knew to fuck with the camera system before he broke Sean out, or that him busting down all the doors and throwing things everywhere messed up the wiring in the facility. I think the latter is most likely since the lights were flickering on and off.
Nah, you both made the right choice with Daniel. He's a good boy! I do think the second ending you picked is better though. Sean and Daniel should both get to be happy and it seems like that happens sooner with that one. Thanks to Dontnod for the game, and thanks to Mari and Stacy for the show! =w= b
I prefer the ending where Daniel gives himself up and it is put together that Daniel was responsible due to his powers. Hence why he's allowed to live with his grandparents but under surveillance from the FBI. At least he keeps in touch with Sean. Also, Sean was the only one who really wanted to go to Mexico. Daniel wasn't as enthusiastic about living there. And I loved that Cassidy ended up Sean.
I appreciate your comment because it made me realize that in the ending you mentioned Daniel actually has the responsibility of what happened opposed to the other endings whereas instead he is left with guilt and Sean is punished, and bonus Sean gets to live freely albeit without his little brother
this is actually something I really didn't realize until the game was over - that while Sean really wanted to go to Mexico, Daniel was more ambivalent. I'm not sure if that's me missing clues in earlier episodes, or if we only learn about this in Episode 5?
I think this is a great game and I respect the message, my only complaint is that almost half of the white characters are terrible horrible people whereas not a single Mexican or ethnic character are. It’s not telling both sides of the story, and I don’t mean this in the sense of “they’re not showing why white people act are scared and act this way” - just that there are genuine gangsters, racists and thugs on that side too, yet we see none of them. It doesn’t feel like proper representation.
I tried so hard to be a good brother but I killed Daniel’s morality (I think mostly cause I agreed to the heist but that’s a whole other story as to why I did that) and so when I was like “we’re gonna surrender” Daniel was like “nah man we going through” and then Sean died and Daniel became a super villain and I questioned all my life choices
Pretty sure you know that, but If you chose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay in the first one, you can actually see recent photos of Max & Chloe ! They even stayed for a while with David, and made peace with each other
in my playthrough when i surrendered, lyla wasn't in the scene where sean gets out of prison bc i didn't contact lyla at all during the entire game bc i was afraid of getting caught by the police :/
I have been looking forward to this all day! I can't wait to watch. Do you think you will react to all seven endings in another video? I would love to see your perspectives.
I cried so much watching this seeing Sean cry and sacrifice him self. Him coming out of prison broken and crying at the campfire was so emotional. I want an ending for them to be happy together and their father to get justice for his wrongful death. I think Daniel is being monitored because of what he did at the border due to his powers.
The Redemption Ending makes me cry my eyes out, seen Sean so broken after he gets out of prison just breaks my heart.
I cried my eyes out :
If you examine the security cameras before leaving the police station, it shows that Daniel broke them.
“We’re not criminals. We’re just kids.”
MESSAGE!!!
Not gonna lie, I lost it and almost started crying when Lyla jumped into Sean's arms in the ending. You could just tell how much he means to her, regardless of whether you ship them, or just see them as friends.
though I don't ship them, I loved their friendship so much, and I wish we could've seen more of Lyla
I ghosted Lyla both times, In the first episode the game makes u think that you are being tracked so I thought i'd hold my temptation and stay under the radar. Didn't contact her at all, or used the web, thinking I was doing the right thing and that it might pay off in the end. It was misleading, cause in the end it didn't matter with all the trouble they caused.
i only see them as friends personally but they clearly are friends for life.
They need to rename the series "Life is Sad" at this point
That does sound more family friendly than "Life is Shit" now that I think about it.
its called Life is Strange because of the supernatural element...plus everything that happens in it is weirdly true of life even if it is painful and sad and...other things.
I think I just realized that Karen was wearing Joan's vest at the end there... I don't think Joan made it :'
Same I got sad like damn she didnt make it...
I just hope David’s okay
as if the ending wasn't depressing enough
Great spot!
"I wonder if there's an ending where Daniel stays with him" oh boy do I have news for you
"DOES HE TURN INTO A SUPERVILLAIN IN ONE?!" lmao
Ardyn Turns into a freaking super saiyan
Depending on how you taught Daniel, it will influence how the situation will turn out. To answer your question, yes, there is an ending for that but you have to make him care for only himself and his brother.
Chex Geam which i did
Or take care for himself only
The surrender ending really made me upset.
@@TheRav3n same
Sean was the best character to me. He’s such a sweet boy 😭
same. it's so bizarre to me that this ending is called "Redemption." Sean doesn't deserve all this pain, and prisons just break people.
I love Karen's voice actress. She speaks so gently and like every word matters.
People really do hunt people coming from Mexico, my friend disowned his whole family because they do this he the "black sheep" and refused to do this with them, and when they found out he had hispanic friend they messaged all the one he had on his facebook telling us to leave or they "make us".
My grandparents and my dad made the trip to the united states, if you don't how bad it is look up stories from people coming from El Salvador my dad made that trip, he is the strongest man i know, but when he talks about him coming over he you can tell he has such trauma from it he tell me that he saw people die and get shot and taken because they didn't do the right thing at the right time
And for those who don't know the states don't have an official language some parts do tho but over all they don't
There are 4 endings and 7 variations:
1) Redemption (Sean goes to jail)
2) Sean goes to Mexico and Daniel stays in the States
3) Daniel goes to Mexico and Sean dies
4) Sean and Daniel both go to Mexico
2 is kinda the best ending if Sean ends up with Cassidy or Finn, and after Daniel finish his house arrest he still can find Sean in Mexico
Christopher Tan 2 is the ending I got as well, at first I was really sad because the brothers are separated. However, seeing the other endings I very satisfied with my ending.
If Daniel could do all that he could have ET'ed their car right over the border.
"ET'ed their car right over the border" oh my god
YES!!!!
I also thought he was going to do that, I wish he did!
“I’m on team cry right now” fuck I’ve never heard anything more relatable in my life lmao
I would like to see your reactions to the other endings because they are pretty crazy
This game brings some issues to light about the justice system.
Like they will tear families apart and cut corners instead of actually looking into what the suspect has to say half the time.
The racism aspect is very accurate and i have dealt with some people like those “vigilantes”.
Having the story be about brotherhood really strengthened the story in my opinion since i have siblings and would do anything to protect them so having Daniel with Sean helped with choices cause ultimately this story is about protecting him and not getting caught
Sorry i just wrote my thoughts so this may not make any sense lol
Perfect 👌
It doesn't bring up issues so much as strawmanning everyone as card carrying cartoon villains
Gay latinx here
same im also a mexican lesbian :)
"They wouldn't make the final episode that short!"
Spoiler alert: they did lol
True, it is probably the shortest episode
@@iagomarcos611 To be fair, there was a lot more to explore in Away than GR had time for. I spent like 2 hours before david and karen got home.
@@calistusjay60 me too but believe me, i spent even more time in the previous episodes
One kid's life isn't worth more than the other
(SPOILERS ahead, very long comment) Per the official LiS UA-cam account's endings video ( ua-cam.com/video/fDR5Q5DSnIM/v-deo.html
), there are 7 endings (really, 4 endings with 3 minor variations). Which one you get mostly depends on a combination of Daniel's "morality" score, and your final decision:
*Redemption (Surrender - High Morality)* - Sean goes to prison for 15 years, continues to draw, and comes out fairly broken emotionally, but has a white glass eye presumably symbolizing moral goodness. brotherly sacrifice.
*Parting Ways (Cross The Border - High Morality)* | Sean with Cassidy - same as above, but Cassidy's with Sean in one of the photos (your 2nd ending is this)
*Parting Ways (Cross The Border - High Morality)* | Sean with Finn - same as above, but Finn's with Sean in one of the photos (I got this one in my playthrough)
*Blood Brothers (Cross The Border - Low Morality)* - Sean says to get through the border, Daniel willingly agrees. cops open fire, Daniel stops bullets and does superpower stuff to crash through more effectively than in Lone Wolf. looks like all the cops/agents/etc are dead? (then again, self-defense). Sean and Daniel both go to Puerto Lobos, stay together, open a repair shop, come into conflict with same gang(s) as in Lone Wolf. I think they both have tattoos and drink beer, Sean smokes, Sean has a black glass eye. (This is the ending I like best, and would consider headcanon. I realize DONTNOD considers this the "bad ending," so much like Life is Strange 1, looks like I'm a "bad endings" player :D)
Maybe his eyes change from black or white because the eyes are the pathway to the soul Purity or corruption
😊 i was really curious and you saved me some time. youre right, the lone wolf ending is so fucked up... poor daniel
@@AlienZizi np! right when the game 1st came out, there was a lot of confusion about how many endings, and how do you get each ending etc so - figured I'd clear things up if anyone needed. anyway - thanks for the comment, hope you have a great day :D
(p.s. yeah that ending *hurts* to watch... do not recommend...)
What if he's not on house arrest? What if its some kind of government monitoring device?
I actually think its that because of HIS powers
That's what I thought. It made sense to me immediately bc the government suddenly has a super powered kid that's angry about many things. That kid can't really be used as a weapon bc he'd know he's being used (again) and wouldn't let others force him. On the other side, they can't put him in jail, nor let this whole story out to the public. So I imagine they know Daniel has powers and monitor him constantly, but for the public he's a normal kid.
'Weed ruins lives so here go to jail and we'll ruin your live" - the judicial system
can i just say i really appreciate when you two go on long rants about things mid-game because i get to learn a lot about situations and issues i have yet to educate myself about. it really sucks that reality operates so unfairly. this game isn't without flaws but the discussions it enables are so valuable and i wanna thank you for engaging with it in a respectful yet no-bullshit manner. even the lil things you pointed out, like how policemen offering you drinks can be manipulative, i didn't know about. please know i highly respect you two as people because you just care so much. and fuck the police lol
That’s why I like the ending where they both go to Mexico, they seem pretty content. Even though it’s dangerous, daniel’s power can protect them.
I got the "15 years after" too and I think most of us will, as we tried to be a good big brother, but that ending is
h e a r t b r e a k i n g.
And, definitely like that Daniel has a support system (btw- thank goodness they didn't kill of Chris in ep2... still sad about Mushroom...)
Something I find interesting about this game, is that I have a different view of what it means to be a "good big brother" - for example, when about to face a freezing rainy night outside, stealing a tent seemed the better option to me than letting my little brother freeze to death.
And it made me realize... the ending is perfectly unfair.
...this episode broke my heart
Moral of the story: Never follow David's advice
why do you think chloe hates his ideas?
@@heyitsmira17 But he probably doesn't even want to live at this point after jail. He didn't deserve this.

After crying so much i realize how Daniel gets hot later in life
same
Sasuke Uchiha glad we are on the same page
Sean too, in every ending he looks hot. Estaban did an amazing job lmao
MEEEEE Same with Sean
Right?!!! Like 25 yr old Daniel is 👌😩
I wonder if Daniel met Max and Chloe while staying at his mom's community
How could he? They never met
When did he go back?
@@IMainReaperIfYouCanBelieveIt One of the photos at the ending they took show Daniel with his mom, Jolie and David in front of a bonfire
This indicates he went back to Away for some time
If you notice, the pic of Daniel and his mom is on a polaroid. He may have met Max and had her take their picture together. :)
I can no longer watch this ending.
why everyone just wants this ending? It was my first ending, but I can no longer sacrifice Sean to save Daniel, Sean in Mexico with Finn and Daniel with grandparents, best ending.
We go back and get that ending and like it better :)
I got that ending with Sean and the girl
Hi guys, i remember when i found your channel first time in 2015 when life is strange came out, i was like 12 and barely knew english. I've always enjoyed your commentary and i cant imagine watching a gameplay of a game that i care about done by different youtubers. You guys are so cool and taught me many things, i love u so much and i hope to see many more from you!! Have a nice day, week, month, year, lifetime, u deserve it
i wish i could write more but i suck at writing but i just want you to know how much you guys mean to me, even though we dont know each other u guys helped me a lot, love uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuu
Thanks for enjoying our content and being amazing!
Take care!
acpaul97 to be honest I am too.
So, basically you can be one of four things in the end:
Good, separated and happy.
Good, separated and unhappy.
Evil, together and happy.
Evil, alone and unhappy.
Yeah, evil and together sounds good to me.
I love your guys channel for talking about all this stuff it’s nice to see a youtubers that do that
I can’t get over Sean’s life being broken by the system so I’m just gonna pretend that second ending is the only one I saw tonight and cry myself to sleep please.
There was another one that I wanted to cry at but I was out of tears by the time I saw it
Dontnod said Be Gay Do Crime.
Sean and Daniel charging through the Border like an IPhone on 100% Battery life had me pumped/pissing myself
The concentric circles with the x represent multiple realities rather than linear time based on Max's time powers
Don’t worry I cried with you guys too this was honestly so sad and unfair
Hopefully they make a LIS 3 on asians if they make another one. I absolutely loved this series
That would be great to see or with a black protagonist either way I'd be very happy for whichever though I'm pretty sure their next game's main characters are white, hopefully they add diversity somewhere 👍
Oooh that would be awesome
@Ethan Johnson so what just because someone's not white it's political ?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! guess what
good news!
It’s so sad lmao
Although I selfishly enjoy the second ending where sean lives happy and gay in mexico with Finn
Or in Geek Remix's case, happy in Mexico with Cassidy. 😂
it was finn's dream
beach house, palm trees, and coconut cocktails
plus sean's religious grandma being so happy about her bi son makes me way soffter honestly
I just want to thank the both of you for your playthrough, as well as your insightful and deeply personal commentary throughout.
I also chose to cross the border and immediately went LOL NOPE so thank you for making me feel less bad about immediately changing my mind
I DID THE SAME THING
I surrendered first and was real disappointed and then after that watched the cross the border ending and I was like fuck this too
NO CAUSE SAME
'Made with the Cry Engine'.
Figures. 😭
Seems a false dichotomy being presented sometimes. You can be a compassionate person who cares about the people *in* society, while still understanding that cops are class traitors and that our current social structures are corporatist/fascist AF and need to go. :P
*Edit:* Cue Mari, "It's as if someone is making a lot of money from people going to jail..." --
Never mind.
Please do a "bad mom" playthrough 👍
Two bisexual women who are just friends raise their bad boi son who is still perfect and beautiful
hope they do! they did "bad decisions" streams for LiS and BtS and they're awesome to watch, with a lot of great commentary
@@epicglitter7218 Yeah, I know, that's why I'm hoping they do it for LIS2 too ;)
The "Redemption Ending" is the worst possible ending anyone could have gotten.
Thank you Mari. It really touched me to see you so moved over the lives of everyday people.
So. Just...complex feels.
in the first ending, Daniel had a normal, happy life, and Sean lived unhappy, traumatised. that hit me real hard
I think we can all relate to that in one way. it's hard
So the comics show what happens after the Bay dies and Chloe is alive, Max still has "powers", but less control. She jumps between multiple timelines, ones with Chloe and ones w/o her. It would be cool to see the comics show Away and David.
just want to say, I love the comics, and I'm grateful they're still going! great story and wonderful art. can't wait for #11!
Yes thank you for uploaded I hope you know that you are very appreciated by everyone. Thank you Mari as Stacy.
Remember to drink water after crying !
Oh! It's you two! You made my favorite DA:I Trespasser ending ever :D That Solas stuff was epic
there's 4 endings with 4 different variants! YOUR CHOICES REALLY DO MATTER AND SOME OF THESE ENDINGS ARE HARD DUDE
Mari didn't even give that cross the border choice a chance to go bad lmao I picked surrender because I expected it would go against everything I taught him not to do
Yeah definitely at least for their playthrough the "bad" endings feel like completely different characters not at all fitting
I wished they mentioned Cassidy, Flynn, Sarah-Lee, etc. in the ending, just for closure. Then again i hope they might come up with a little extra episode talking abt their lives after the accident or something
Well we know if Sean goes to Mexico alone then he can end up with one of his potential partners
"The message is F the police"
Yeah pretty much. It's the only thing that is consistent across all endings.
"Bad Daniel has the best ending"
Yep, Bad Daniel/Bad Sean is the best ending.
"Dontnod knew exactly what they were doing"
Correct again, although I saw this troll coming after episodes 3/4 when white knighting gets you nothing but trouble.
"This is the worst ending" and "Sean dies at the end"
Bad Daniel/Good Sean is probably suppose to be the worst ending cause Sean dies and Daniel hooks up with the cartels. Either way they end up killing a couple of cops instead of saving a schoolbus full of children. I still give this one full credit cause I consider Sean goes to jail for 15 years a worse ending than Sean dies in a shootout.
So... Mari nailed it.
I want Life is Strange 3 now
The bisexuals make great parents.
The very best
regarding Victoria Chase, in the final timeline Max and Chloe stay at home, but they tell David about the bunker.
Keep it on!
Btw. It would be total rad if you react to the two other endings there are. ;)
"Crimes?" "Crimes." Totally a Night in the Woods reference. Plus Sean is a furry.
sean looks so much like Esteban 😭😭 its so weird to see daniel grown up too oh my god
Seeing Sean and Daniel reunited after 15 years made me cry... And then Sean cried, and I cried some more. Thank you for sharing this playthrough and your thoughts!
I had bad Daniel which was done unintentionally and I crossed the border because I wasn't gonna stop after everything. Pretty happy with my ending.
yea Blood Brothers is my favorite ending :). the camera lingers on Daniel's face a lot, and the music's a bit moody, so I get this sense the game wants me to regret my decisions but I absolutely don't lol. they're alive, together, and free!
wow DONTNOD really said ACAB and I'm here for it
How Stacey felt is exactly how I felt about season 1 ending
Thank you, Mari and Stacy. Now I know why people are arrested unjustly. You guys always have something relevant to say about, like politics, and such. Thank you.
I hope they reacted to all the endings
About that bit at 1:21:00
My personal theory is that Daniel knew to fuck with the camera system before he broke Sean out, or that him busting down all the doors and throwing things everywhere messed up the wiring in the facility. I think the latter is most likely since the lights were flickering on and off.
The blue car Sean drives is same one Esteban fixed.
RedCrono don’t make me cry more
Nah, you both made the right choice with Daniel.
Truth here. And it's not like after the house arrest is over he cant go see Sean on trips
@@devilovesdevil especially since they show that Daniel has visited his mother previously
Hearing Mari cry made me weep! This story hit me so hard
I tried so hard to be a good brother but I killed Daniel’s morality (I think mostly cause I agreed to the heist but that’s a whole other story as to why I did that) and so when I was like “we’re gonna surrender” Daniel was like “nah man we going through” and then Sean died and Daniel became a super villain
and I questioned all my life choices
Pretty sure you know that, but If you chose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay in the first one, you can actually see recent photos of Max & Chloe ! They even stayed for a while with David, and made peace with each other
Yeah in the previous episode they see the pictures 😊
@@alorable1391 Cool ! Never doubted them :P
1:08 another easter egg!! but its night in the woods this time!
'crimes? crimes' is the thing mae and gregg say to each other!!
my whole goal for this game since ep1 was to see lyla again and i got it and im happy i chose what i did
in my playthrough when i surrendered, lyla wasn't in the scene where sean gets out of prison bc i didn't contact lyla at all during the entire game bc i was afraid of getting caught by the police :/
I have been looking forward to this all day! I can't wait to watch. Do you think you will react to all seven endings in another video? I would love to see your perspectives.
I think for the second ending the police is tracing Daniël in case he leads them to Sean
Most likely it’s so that Daniel doesn’t try to cross the border and go to Sean. Otherwise he’d probably go visit him
was just about to bug yall on twitter asking when this would be out, hell ye
I cried so much watching this seeing Sean cry and sacrifice him self. Him coming out of prison broken and crying at the campfire was so emotional. I want an ending for them to be happy together and their father to get justice for his wrongful death. I think Daniel is being monitored because of what he did at the border due to his powers.
Oh god. Its officially done.
id love to see your guys reaction to the other endings
Can you react to other endings?
The best ending be the one y’all got at the very end
