I fly the Cirrus SR20X G1000 perspective for 4 years now, there ain't no better GA travel plane as this one. It has all the present day features on board and is safe! Next to this plane I fly Pipers, Cessna's and fly formation. Flying the Cirrus is a treat ! WL

You evidently didn't buy the 182 new, why would you assume you'd have to buy the Cirrus new? There are many out there, even turbos, that are about $250k. That's not chump change, but not the $750k you're talking about.

I'd love to have one I agree with pretty much everything that is said I believe it is one if not the safest planes out there, cost overall for what you get is fair knowing what it costs in terms of equipment and spec, but that being said on the money I earn their is absolutely no way that I could ever afford one on my wage even a low price used one would be a struggle. I had a few lessons in a cessna as a student pilot and wished I was flying an SR22 instead of a old c150 with steam gauges. I think Cirrus could look into having more dealerships in the U.K and trying to get them into flying schools, and it would be good to see them make a lower cost alternative maybe a two seat trainer, and maybe a budget type cirrus that still has the same safety. I throw down a gauntlet for you to accept the challenge.
I'm a life long aviation enthusiast, but I have never gotten my ticket. I wonder how difficult and expensive it is to get an IFR rating in this aircraft. I absolutely love this airplane. Too bad I'm to broke to ever hope to fly one.
Sweet ride the new g7. I really like the chute I'll admit a big selling point too. They are just so goddamn ugly in my opinion. Espically in the air with the gear hanging down Like a 172. Me and my father had a budget of 250k and there were pleanty sr22s available even g3. But we decided on a a36. The useful load on the older sr22s is a horrible 950 pounds. the bonanza has 1300 pound useful 6 seats. The a36 has an io550 stc and a few speed mods so rop its max cruise is about 176kts so it is only about 7 knots slower(if wee going by the fake numbers that the manufacturers put out lol) than the cirrus but it doesn't make up for useful load and takeoff performance which is much much better on bonanza. A Vtail is just as fast as an sr22 if it has an io550 (most do) if your put the io550r then it will do almost 190kts with no turbo and that's faster then the sr22. Thankfully the new sr22 have a useful around 1300 now and the Garmin perspective is heavenly as i know someone who has a 2015gts. But unless you could afford a newer one. Why in God's name would you buy the older ones? . I really did consider the cirrus and it's in my top 5 favorite ga planes mostly because of the chute.

I did that with a Horizon PC60 Yacht and got the whole thing for free, plus cashflow from the charter business and a great vacation anytime I want. There are always creative ways to afford things.
Exactly!! That is why, I would get something like a 2005 - 2006-ish model Cessna 172 for around 100K to 120K, instead of this 800K Cirrus (not that I can afford it). But even if I could afford it, I wouldn't. The 172 makes really good sense for "shorter" trips. Like if you live on one side of Los Angeles and you want to "cut across" all the traffic (which would take you 3 or 4 hours by car in rush hour traffic), you can do it in a 172 in about 45 minutes. Even something like San Francisco to LA would work. But for longer trips across the country, Delta, Southwest, American or Jetblue works just fine!
Loans. Monthly payments. It's the American way. People don't think they need the money if they can afford the monthly payment. They don't care if the $700k is going to cost them $1.25M over the life of the loan, they just want the toys.

You can get a used SR20 or SR22 for under $350k. And since they are maintained at top levels, and get upgraded over the years...they are worth it.

It's great for those that have $750k+ to buy one plus a ton more to maintain. The rest of us are stuck with our 70's era 182s.

You can buy a SR-20 for $100,000-$150,000. It will be used (around 2000-2003 model).

An instrument ticket is no more or less difficult in a Cirrus as any other IFR equipped aircraft....it's just safer each time you fly in one.

Used, if you buy one of the original 2002 ones, about $150K. It'll have about 2,000 hours on it, but that's not bad. New, about $670K. Take your pick.
