    READ HIS DISCRIPTION AND USE THE PROCEDURE IN THE LINK!!! I tried his values and it made mine worse. I followed the procedure and ended up with values WAY different from his but it is spot on now. Light kiss on stops when homing no bump or brrt.

    I need to try this. That homing issue is really bad and I thought my Neptune 4 Max was damaged. You're the only UA-camr that I've found that has said anything regarding a fix. Thank you!

      I should mention that if you try this, have fluidd open so you can click emergency stop in the case of erratic behavior. Also, read the description for other notes and information. I did this video in a hurry before leaving for a work trip so I didn't get into great detail on everything.

    i hate being into 3D printing as a casual. "God i hate this stupid issue, someone online MUST have a fix" *1 video on topic* "THANK GOD" *30 seconds in* " so what you wanna do is open up your fluid interface by going to the ip address of your machine" "WHAT DOES THAT MEAN"

    • @TheFeralEngineer
      @TheFeralEngineer  11 місяців тому +1

      It means connect your machine to Wi-Fi, note the address that comes up when you connect to Wi-Fi (typically 192.168.1.xxx), put that number into your web browser on your computer and it'll connect to the fluidd web interface on the Neptune 4.
      And watch part 2

    Thank you for doing the research to figure this out. I have a new Neptune 4 Plus, changed the driver_sgthrs to 110 and it's much smoother. Homes perfect. My homing speeds were already set to 50, so I left them at default. I did a quick search to understand what this is and for thos of you with the tmc2209 stepper, below is what this means.

    My Neptune 4 max grinds when sending the bed to the back of the machine and my current settings are X70 Y40. Making the suggested changes and homing cause the bed to come all the way forward and the print head all the way to the left, then it tries to drive the nozzle though the bed unless I kill the power :)
    Very odd results for the changes, any thoughts?

    • @TheFeralEngineer

    If this doesn't fix your issue, check you have the right firmware too! I was an idiot and downloaded neptune 4 max firmware for a 4 plus. This made it think it was bigger than it actually was, and showed similar symptoms to what this video fixes (when you watch both parts). Most people will have more braincells than I do, but thought i'd put it here just incase.

    • @TheFeralEngineer
      @TheFeralEngineer  4 місяці тому

      Firmware doesn't really matter, all of the pertinent information resides in printer.cfg or elegoo_config.ini. Sure, it's easier to just reflash, but it's not impossible to change the settings after the fact.

    Do you have an idea what could cause the nozzle hitting the infil or other parts of the print? Like a layer is done the printer head/nozzel moves to the next spot, but while moving it is hitting the Printed part.
    that could cause a damage of the print or even worse kicks of the print from the print bed and after that the filament extruded after that creates a huge blob of molten PLA around the print head.

    • @TheFeralEngineer

      Keep decreasing the sgthrs value until it homes properly again but doesn't grind.
      Also, slow homing down to ~20-30 to see if that helps.
      Stealthchop at 99999 means it's always on. Try setting it to 0 if it still doesn't home properly, but it might sound like r2d2.

    Just recently bought a Neptune 4 plus and I have trouble with homing Y(was able to fix the X quickly with your videos), I followed both of your videos. I went on my on trail because nothing was working for the Y axys... I did try 20mm and 30mm speed with different driver_sgthrs setting but. I first tried with +5 increments when I saw it started triggering, I went down in increment of -1.... the problem is that(at 30mm let's say, scenario is the same at 20mm...) SGTHRS at 83 still give me a big noise when homing... and at 84 bed get a false trigger moving only a few mm. I'm gonna try more speed today but yeah..(note that with the same setting of 84 I tried to loosen belt tension without success, same for 83 and correct belt tension) I'm a bit confuse. I will try to reach elegoo customer support probably today too. I the mean time do, Have any ideas for me to try? thank you!

      @@TheFeralEngineer Big thank you for the quick answer, I had time to test 50mm speed and ended up with the same problem(For me belt was slipping 2-3 theeth before trigger, 123 SGTHRS was slipping and at 124 I would get false trigger and bed wouldn't move) Weirdly enough I found a quick fix! With a homing_retract_dist:5 (making it doing a second homing) the issue was fixed. I don't really get why, but no more slipping! I feel like it's just the sound of normal "bump"(unless it's suppose to be silent silent)(setting are 20mm speed and 55 SGTHRS). I'm probably missing a setting or something that make my printer want to correct his Y position in the negative(position_min is set at 0) after homing but in the meantime It won't strip my belt when homing and cause stress on the motor. If I come accross more i'll let you know!( I have a second Neptune 4 plus to assemble will see if I get the same problem)

    It doesn't matter where the Nozzle goes to home, as long as when you set to level your bed it goes dead centre and that doesn't really matter ether as long as Z is set right at 0 of X and Y... My factory Home position on the bed is about an inch or so right from dead centre and it prints and calculates the bed perfectly,, you know almost 😂... I think the offset. Home position is so Z X and Y have a reference point to where dead centre is ?

    • @TheFeralEngineer
      @TheFeralEngineer  Рік тому

      It very much matters where home position is located because everything goes relative to those positions at absolute zero. Your machine goes an inch or so off center because the extruder centers the probe to the middle of the bed, not the nozzle

      That's because you didn't watch part 2. Watch part 2. It's not homing the wrong way, it thinks it's home because the sensitivity is too high and it's trying to go to table center. Watch part 2.

    Is this for real? You got a new 3D printer, and you need to fix it right away? Changing those parameters, are they documented officially anywhere? How do I know it's 110, not 105 or any other numbers?

    • @TheFeralEngineer
      @TheFeralEngineer  Рік тому +4

      110 was the value in the latest max config I saw. It's almost the middle of the driver_sgthrs setting range (0-255) and I did mention having to possibly make slight adjustments to this number. The first batch machines need a little firmware tweaking, I just happen to know that the issue is and no, I don't have a 4, I'm just aware of the settings in Klipper because I read the documentation on the klipper site.

      I have a three-day-old 4 Plus purchased directly from Elegoo with the X and Y grinding issues when they reached the end of their travel (Y much more pronounced than X). I ignored the noise and printed a great test Budha which was followed by a perfect print from one of my own files. Then I watched the video recommending The Feral Engineer and how fixing the grind would be easy. Long story short, after following the guidance to-the-letter the hot end repeatedly smashed into the bed and kept going until the power was turned off, the Y axis grinding never stopped and now I can't even boot up the printer. I get an error message on the touch screen telling me the Klipper software is messed up. Can't even open it to do a factory re-set. I'm waiting to see if I get any response from Elegoo support. Lesson learned - I should have waited until Amazon started carrying the 4 Plus because it would already be boxed up and gone and waiting for either a replacement or a refund (probably a refund as this is my second Neptune 4 that has crumped shortly after purchasing).

      @@leskeffel9512 when you say "to the letter", does that letter include the second video that I've adamantly been saying to watch? Doesn't sound like it. I said to watch it in the title, in the description and added it as a thumbnail to the end of the video.
