I don't usually comment on anything, but I just watched your Q&A from a year ago, and just have to say that until I heard those comments about your voice I didn't think there was anything unusual abouit and I still don't. I can't believe people can be so ignorant. I just discovered your channel a few days ago and have since watched MANY of your videos and I think your voice sounds beautiful. You are a very clever, talented person and I applaud you for all the work you put into sharing your knowledge and talent with the world. If people think you talk too much, as you said, there is the mute button!
Good morning, you are absolutely amazing, I just love watching your videos, you make me feel like I can do all these projects and I feel so confident when I watch you. Your step by step instructions are awesome. We are so blessed that you are sharing your knowledge online. Thank you, God bless you!
Oh Alisa, your way of explaining, demonstrating, all are so special. Truly amazed by your patience in making garments. The way you touch the material is like how a musician would touch a musical instrument. So soothing to watch. Thank you so much for the video.
I have been looking for a tutorial on how to apply lining to a hoodie/sweatshirt for a while, yours is the first that shows the necessary steps in detail. Thanks and best wishes.
Holy moly, you are a GODSEND!! I was afraid of attempting this for a costume but you explained it so nice and neatly! Thanks to you, this'll be easier to do! Thank you for this video!!!
Der Alisa, thank for your creat tutorial. I have a finishes jacket. I want to sew a lining and zipper. I'm sure that I can sew the lining with your tips and tricks. Thank you very hery much.🥰
Ive never sewn a lining before as the process has always intimidated me:-) Thanks to your very helpful tips today I think I may give it a try! A brillaint tutorial - many thanks. xx
My jacket did not need a lining but I decided to add one into it and was not sure if the ribbing went on before or after the zipper and lining was put in, but now after watching your video you made it so much easier to complete my project😀 Thank you!
Thank you for this video! The idea of sewing in a lining has always intimidated me, but you are really an excellent and calming teacher! I've had to take a break from sewing, but am looking forward to getting back into it starting with your knit bodice block series! I am 11 weeks pregnant so I'm excited to be making some of my own custom maternity wear using your tutorials! :)
Samantha, first of all - congratulations! I remember this comment and wanted to make sure I reply to it once I have a Members Extra done for a wrap dress/wrap garment and I do now, here it is - ua-cam.com/video/pWwi4X8tpSk/v-deo.html If you do the wrap/tie part right underneath the bust - you will have a fun maternity dress!
This is such a wonderful video!! You are such an amazing teacher!! I love the beautiful little jacket, I'm guessing it's for your daughter or niece. The fabric is so pretty and delicate!! ♡❤️ I'm certain the little girl that this is made for tp definitely love this!! Beautiful!! Thanks so very much!!♡
Fantastic way to do both the lining and zipper. Love benefitting from your experience. You are one smart sewist. Thanks for your helpful channel...love, love, love it!!!
What a perfect time to share this tutorial! I’ve been wanting to make a jacket for a long time now but was intimidated by the process. You make it look so easy and I am definitely going to give it a try. Thank you so much for sharing it.
I am so glad this is useful! I am not a fan of regular linings, I will do one if there is no other way, but for zipper jackets like that I prefer this one, so I am so happy this is helpful to You :)
I love your channel. You have inspired me to get back to sewing. I love the jacket you are wearing in this video. Did you make it yourself? Do you have a tutorial for it? Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial! I must be missing something - through which hole do you turn the jacket right side out after you basted/sewn in the zipper? Can you squeeze all that through the sleeves?
@@ThoughtfulCreativity oh wow, I wouldn't have thought that it fits! Does that only work for stretchy knits or even stable/woven fabrics? And thanks for your reply, Alisa :)
@@vivenna for both woven and knits - the sleeve opening is small but manageable. Even when you are sewing a "classic" lining - you leave a small opening around the elbow area, usually below or above it and turn everything right side out and that opening isn't huge either.
Excellent video as usual. I will try this method next time. I have some questions; If you are going to interface the exterior of the jacket where the zipper is, wouldn’t you also do the same for the lining? Otherwise you are essentially sewing a zipper between a stable fabric and a stretch fabric and that doesn’t usually give the nicest finish inside. Also, why do you sew the unusable part of the zipper tape to the hood where it is so visible? Why not flip the end over and stop sewing before you get to the hood? Appreciate your time!
This is the way I do it - I would encourage you to experiment and find what works for you by doing and seeing and analyzing. If you want to interface the lining - go for it, but to me it adds too much bulk and stiffness and I get nice result the way in I currently do it. As mentioned - see what works for you! :)
Adonia, absolutely, just use a zig-zag stitch. I have a full video about how to sew knits without a serger, just on a sewing machine, and I believe I mentioned it in this video.
Wher did you turn it 🤣🤣
Through the sleeve, either one of them :)
@@ThoughtfulCreativity 🤦 i didt not think ❤️❤️
I was wondering too thank you for asking!

That was an easier method! Thanks for the demo.

That's awesome! Seems similar to a bagged lining, but a little simpler because of the use of cuffs and band. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful! :)
Thank you so much. I was very intimidated when sewing liners together. You have given me a little more confidence in trying them. Thank you again.
You made the instructions so easy.👏 Thank you! I really appreciate you taking your time with the zipper steps😊💜
Glad it was helpful! Zipper can be scary, so I wanted to go over that part as well :)
Yes scary is the word and you did a wonderful job!
Great hoodie with beautiful material.
Love your videos
Clear instructions. Thanks. I basted the zipper in first on the main piece before adding the lining, I found it easier.
Wonderful!

Would love a video that explains how to make a removable liner.. maybe something with buttons?
I honour to your teach
Leuk shirt. Goed filmpje
So good 😊

@@ThoughtfulCreativity Got it, thanks so much for your support! Have a lovely rest of your day 😊
My pleasure! :) I am always happy to see your comments! With woven, I just usually take my time and turn it slowly, trying not to damage that opening.
Hi Alisa, is that woven or non woven interfacing that you use to stabilise the zipper? I love that trick! Fabulous tutorial as always. :D
Great question :) Woven, since the zipper tape itself is woven and non-stretch, knit interfacing would not make any difference.
Phenomenal thank you
I really like how you did this, but what if you are not working with ribbing on the sleeves and hem?

Lovely video
Sorry if I missed it, but how do you turn it right side out after putting the zipper in?
No worries, super easy - through one of the sleeves :)
Could you make it reversible if you left the hood open and used an accent binding to close it?
🎉🎉🎉
Hi Alisa, can you make this without a serger sewing machine?
Adonia, absolutely, just use a zig-zag stitch. I have a full video about how to sew knits without a serger, just on a sewing machine, and I believe I mentioned it in this video.
@@ThoughtfulCreativity Thank you for your quick reply! Thank you for your channel, I continue to learn watching your channel! God bless you!
Do you just cut the lining the same size as the jacket?
Thanks for the tutorial. Where do I turn it right way in once the zip is attached. I’m confused, I can’t see that in the video.
Through the sleeve :)
Can you just do a type of buttons have zipper on outside of my jacket thank you vicky
I am so desperately looking for garment sewing classes for beginners. It's been so long, very long. Do you have videos for that?
Please go to my channel and take a look at the video have done, over 200 of them

Yes, go to my channel and look hoodie tutorials, I have quite a few :)
@@ThoughtfulCreativity thank you so much
Did you give sewing lessons
good video but confusing, you skipped the part when you sew the bottom ?
No I did not, I showed it at 4 minutes in the video!
