Great video, wish I found it earlier. Have you considered a Hi-volume oil pump? I have to do this in my '11 Challenger SRT8 6-speed on a very limited budget.
I did my mechanic told me to put a stock one in. So that's what I did. But I have have plans for this year. I want to get a forged bottom end. Saving my pennys
Wow great video I was really concerned that my local auto shop was charging to much 3600.00 for my cam and lifters repair but after your video it really settled me down thanks
Not sure if you mentioned. But how come you chose v2 instead of your orignal cam . I’m not to much of a fan of the chop , just don’t wanna piss of neighbors I leave for work early (Construction worker) . Would that v2 be good for dailying as well?
@@rammods3818 the beast is going to be a track truck.?? Yea I watched your old vids with the .5 cam fell in love mad that my go to build to shoot for . Hope I have luck with it
I kept the 5.7 cam, upgraded to the hellcat lifters and hellcat oil pump and mds delete with the predator tuner. Bigger cams means bigger springs, 2 to 4 trips to the shop to get the cam tuned
Right now, I own a 2013 Ram Express with only 56,000 miles, I have noticed after it sits for a week or so, when I start it up it blows a small amount of blueish smoke, May be normal not sure though.
I hope that thump stick gives your truck good performance,I have a 2018 Charger Pursuit with 160 000 miles with copious amount of idle time, the poor hemi sounds like a type writer,I will be doing the same job as you did on your Ram,only I will keep MDS and put 4 new solenoids in and maybe a new chain.
Sorry I look at the pictures of all the parts i put in. It doesn't have a part number or size on it. You can email Greene Racing and Jay will let you know. Or i am putting new shims with my new cam .when I get the truck back with the old parts I can let you know.
Awesome video though! Now I know what my mechanic is talking about. I purchase a $3000 used 5.7 hemi motor from a junk yard only to go out in 60 days but fortunately it comes with a 90 day warranty. Had I known about the jasper engines I would have just bought one from the very beginning
@@billynolanjr2266 you already have to remove them. Ask ANY mechanic if they think it’s foolish not to change them, they will agree and also suggest oil pump. You are showing ignorance and lack of experience
Great info how many miles on your truck before your first lifters / cam failed?

I have those same lifters on my 5.7 392 stroker so far 7000 miles on it with no issues
Go to know thank you. Hope we both have good luck with them
Just had a lifter go out on my 05 hemi, its not worth the headache

I going to get a new daily. I used his point 5 V-2 high lift Cam. It's not a thumpcam. Loved it and I would say yes you can drive it daily

Street/track I put a lot of miles on my vehicles. So I wanna get another truck For a daily. Plus I work construction

One day at a time easy does it!! 👍GO MOPAR
Still love my hemi

I always used 4 big magnets in my oil pan!! Cheap insurance!

If I had known this about the HEMI I would've gotten the V6.... 🤣 Yeah, right! I love my HEMI!
My buddy has a v6 ram they have there problems to .
V6 has no power compared to the hemi
Yeah, I don't think a V6 has any place in a full size truck, just my opinion.
Fully agree. You can put a V6 in an S10 or a ranger. Other than that they have no place on a truck. I do want an S10 with A V8
@@rammods3818 that would be fun!
What are the shim part numbers if you still remember? Thanks

what type of assembly lube for cam install do u use?
Do you get convertor for that cam or its running fine.
I have a pro edge 3600 stall converter. Jay said i should change to a 4000 hard hitting to get the most out of it.
I think I'll just change my oil and forgo the cam lifter failures.
For $4000 wouldn’t it be better to install a $6500 jasper 3 years with 100k miles warranty

Chrysler should be fixing these things. Im dumping mine for a Ford soon.
Agree with your first statement. Still not mad enough to drive a Ford though 🤣
At 170,000 miles? I think it's well past the warranty. This is not an uncommon repair for neglected high mileage engines.
Absolute foolishness to not change timing chain and water pump
Why ? Because I have to do this job also and if I don't have to change the chain and W pump that's great !
