I had her as a computer teacher in 2006. She was wonderful. Taught me so much, many of the cool keyboard shortcuts I use everyday. Hell, she even taught me how to type properly. I'm sure I'd be tying this comment at least 15% slower if it wasn't for her. I remember she brought stress balls to class often, taught us how to avoid carpel tunnel syndrome, how to use Paint, and so much more. One time, she caught me playing iSketch during class (an old online Pictionary game). I thought she was going scold me, but instead she asked if she could play with me. It was a powerful moment for me, as I wasn't used to this sort of interaction from teachers. I always remember her as one of the better well-rounded teachers. She will be missed by many I'm sure

I've been attacked and screaming for help so that neighbour saying she heard a woman screaming and asking to stop makes me really upset. I understand you may be scared but at least call someone, turn a light on, call out - do something! I don't expect people to put themselves in danger, but sometimes just the belief that someone is coming to the rescue may cause an attacker to flee.

Most likely she'd be dying and not all that concerned with anything other than the whole dying thing... Unfortunately Gretchen had very little chance to survive this encounter. Maybe they'd have caught this prick faster and been able to bury her sooner.
How sickening that a neighbour hears terrible screams ‘like someone being attacked’ and does nothing!!! Let’s hope the same doesn’t happen to you lady!! Hope you are plagues with thoughts about your lack of compassion and care. SHAME ON YOU!!
Someone once told me if I’m in danger or being attacked and need help that I should scream “FIRE”. For some reason ppl are more likely to take that seriously and do something.
"Fire" is a proximity based threat, and if there's fire alarming someone enough close enough you can hear, the fire could easily become your problem too! It's stupid, but "Help" is usually too vague, and is too common with people just playing around for EVERYONE to ALWAYS take it seriously. There was one time my father heard screams of distress and went racing down the street and it was because a little girl was scared of a large dog asking to be petted. -_-
Editorial correction: previously we stated that if any of the people on the list of permanent residents of Jupiter Florida were your neighbors you were doing well. After further review we have determined that if these people are your neighbor you are pretty much screwed as they will not check on your well-being or even notify local authorities upon hearing serious screaming or declarations of pain coming from your house. We sincerely apologize for any misinformation.

I guess they didn't want to get involved...sigh. It does seem horrible that the poor woman managed to scream for help and was HEARD (!) yet nobody did anything.
Strikes me as bystander effect. She felt the need to do something she figured no one else did yet, but most people assume someone already called 911. It's why if you are ever around when an emergency happens, you tell specific people what to do. "You, in the red shirt, call 911, and you in the khakis give me some paper towels." And if you hear someone screaming, it doesn't hurt to be the second person who called, just call. It was one of the first things I learned in first aid classes before I was a first responder. Let's help fight bystander effect, do something.

Had this happened in Russia, our old school Russian grandmas ,who sit outside their houses all day ,everyday, would've not only called 911, they'd tell you who was the attacker ,where he lives, his social security number, his blood type and everyone who they're related to ..lmao I'm telling you, those women are natural born detectives 😅👌

Talk about the bystander effect “I heard a really serious woman scream... like she was being attacked...I heard her scream ‘no!’...I heard something about ‘it hurts’...’stop it’...the scream was _really_ serious”
@@VioletJoy Exactly. You may as well call it "the bastard effect" because it's not an attempt to excuse anything. It's got nothing to do with morality. It's an attempt to understand people's (supposed) behaviour ("supposed" because afaik, the original event that inspired it was misreported and in reality, the more bystanders there are, the more likely that someone will intervene). So, people can criticise it for being exaggerated or wrong. But there's a huge difference between trying to understand something and trying to justify it.
If you heard a very serious scream that sounded like someone was being attacked, why would you NOT call the police or try and help? What is wrong with people!
Because if wrong in that neighborhood? Your equally rich neighbors may sue you....or worse...get you ostracized. Getting socially shunned is a fate worse than death to the "best" people.
She was dead by the end of the scream. If she'd called the cops maybe Gretchen could have had a decent funeral. I'm with you, please call the cops if you hear someone screaming.
Nobody is expecting their neighbor to be murdered in a wealthy neighborhood where that has never happened ,she probably thought they were just fighting

These stories where a neighbor hears and does nothing makes me more grateful for my neighbors at my last apartment. My then boyfriend had fallen pretty heavily onto the floor. He was fine and it was just one thud but it was hard. Police showed up not long after and wanted to see he was safe even after I said what happened. If he had actually gotten hurt, if someone had hurt him, he would have been possibly saved due to that neighbor. We laughed about it at the time but it makes me a bit emotional now. That neighbor and the cops that day were looking out for him...and it was just a thud. How do people ignore screams for help? It just breaks my heart...but I think to those neighbors and though I didn't know them...I'm wishing them extra well for looking out for their fellow man.
And then literally takes a photo of the truck in the driveway acknowledging that it's very likely someone is attacking her and this might evidence later and still doesn't fucking call the police lol
I’ve learned a few crime tricks in life. If you’re being raped, yell “fire” and if you’re being attacked in your rich-neighborhood-house, yell “there’s a black man raping me!” That lady would’ve called the cops for either of those shouts, bet.

The same indifference that the police displayed when they didn't send him to a psych hospital before anything happened. What would have been the downside? There is absolutely no downside. @@jenl.9980 I did this when I clearly heard several gunshots and a blood-curdling scream coming from a nearby parking garage or the adjacent apartment complex. Everyone in the store put their heads down and no one offered to call. The management of the store refused to let us call the police. My friend didn't want to get involved, so I ran to the police station. I waited for like a half hour to talk to someone. The detective started asking me questions, attempting to trip me up. I was like "Wait, why are you treating me as the suspect here?" Eventually, they said they'd call a car. Some days later, I read about a murder in that area in the paper. Maybe because they were doing something illegal themselves.. like smoking or snorting. Not all garbage human beings are killers.. some are bystanders that pull out their phone to record a crime instead of calling cops or helping.
Look up Kitty Genovese...stabbed to death in the middle of the street; 38 witnesses saw, no one stopped the attack or called the police...it’s called the bystander effect...

Thank you for saying this. I almost stopped watching because I thought something awful may have happened to Kobe dog ❤️🐾❤️
Came here looking for this comment.
good to know. The dog looked kinda sad, and I worried about him not having a home.
Was Kobe's demeanor during the arrest typical of Huskies? I know it was only a quick glympse but my Standard Poodle would be barking about all the excitement/trouble or whining to meet the new people if she didn't realize I was upset. Likely she'd be very aware of my yelling and be upset trying to get out to find me because she likes to be in the middle of shenanigans.
@@AliValentine143 I don’t know the answer sadly but I thought the exact same! I’ve never known a dog to sit there quietly when their owner is being attacked
Thank you for the update on the dog, Kobe. Nice to know he was adopted by new owners :)
That poor dog Kobe sure looked so sad. Like he's thinking 'my owner's a pos. Please rescue me'.
he has the sweetest face, I hope he's doing good now
Kobe was a good boy and I'm glad the police focused on him as fast as they did because he was scared. You can just see he needed a hug, I felt so bad for him all the flashlights and the car shaking because of his asshole ex-human.
I wonder if the neighbors ever liked her because the fact that there’s serious screaming coming fr the house next door and NO ONE decided to call the cops?!🤯
People don't want to get involved . In London you don't speak to your neighbours & you could collapse in the street & people would step over you . The North & Midlands are the complete opposite.
Or, they were screaming at each other all the time and the neighbors stopped worrying about it.
People constantly bring up Kitty Genovese for the bystander but there's no evidence that there were 38 witnesses to her murder, much less 38 people that ignored her being attacked and did nothing. People did call 911 for help, a woman even held Kitty until the ambulance came. She died on the way to hospital.
The neighbor heard a woman screaming at the top of her lungs "No No, It hurts, No!" and didn't call the police immediately? Great neighbor
I hate people 😒🙄

I think that was why he did it when he did. He knew the girl was with her dad. At least I hope he was cognizant enough to know🤷🏼♀️🤞
It's absolutely mind blowing to me that someone could spiral out of control from the death of someone they never knew in person..
I’ll say it again, why do neighbors mind their business when they shouldn’t?!?!
You have a BBQ and the neighborhood unofficial watch dog hates your life. You die? Nope. Nobody cares. Sad.
Right!!! I go out to mow my lawn and I have 3 different neighbors peaking out there windows but I go on vacation and someone breaks into my house in broad daylight and nobody sees a damn thing!! But lol I can’t be mad, my 60 inch tv that got stolen magically turned into a 75 inch and the little 32 from my kids room turned to a 60 lol!
Like most police 🚔 , there when you don't need them and hardly there when you do!
Its just like that poor girl getting stabbed by her crazy coworker, and the people in the Apple Store ( on the other side of the wall ) can clearly hear the poor girl dying, but they never call the cops. Absolutely useless.
Depends on the neighbors!
"I heard her scream, like she was being attacked"
and not call the police? does "screaming like she was attacked" mean something different in rich people's language?
Yup...it means mind ya damn business
She took a pic
I dk if i could just 'make a note of it'
They knew she was in trouble but was either scared or took to the bystander effect to the extreme. If they had called she may have been saved.
Now I’m wondering how many neighbors hear screams and pleas they are being killed yet no one calls 911.
Yeah, she bothered taking a picture of the truck but didn't call the police when there was someone in obvious distress? WTF?
Yelling like an argument is a "mind your own business" situation. Screaming like an attack is not. Call for help people!!!!

How can you be worried about a pet when this happened to a woman? Smh
Guys, if you hear someone screaming "No!" like they're being attacked, please call the cops. Don't be like this idiot neighbor and just go back to bed or doing whatever you were doing beforehand. Even if the police find that there's no cause for concern, it's worth the call. You could be someone's last hope.
She didn’t call the police... instead she took a walk outside to take a photo of the mans car... like what?!?! You knew enough to do that, but not call the police when someone is screaming for help?
Well duh rich people don't kill each other, what's the point of that
You’re right, but I also understand why some people hesitate. I called the police over my neighbor’s boyfriend beating her, sounded especially bad and I SAW him punch her in the face. She thanked me by putting sugar in my damn gas tank because it was *my* fault her boyfriend was in jail.
The bystander effect is another reason it happens... but if she took it upon herself to photograph his truck, I don’t see why she wouldn’t take it upon herself to call the police. That’s weird.
Just a couple weeks ago, I heard a woman screaming outside near my house. I thought of all these videos, and I went outside to investigate. I am a very petite woman, so it's not like I could physically stop an attack, but at least I could call the police if necessary.
It was a domestic dispute situation. I didn't witness any violence, but the woman had bruises on her and told me that he had been violent in the past. Sadly, she ended up returning home with him, because they have children and she doesn't want to leave them with him. But I got her contact information and we now talk regularly. I hope I can convince her to leave before she becomes one of these videos. :(

I was wailing earlier this year over a death, and my neighbor told me thought maybe it was a "domestic dispute" and that he didn't want to get involved. So ... Yeah.
Well, if it happened a lot, as implied by your phrase "every time", your neighbors correctly inferred that you chose to participate and would probably lie to the cops, thus setting them up for charges of false reports, not to mention putting them in danger from the man you chose, not them
@@nineteenfortyeight wow... the victim blaming is strong here.
