In the 80's Japanese Gundam modelers used to use the chalk technique. They apply the chalk with one brush and use another brush, to brush and move it around the area they want.
dude, i was mid watching this video this morning.. and i was like bro it was an old upload what happened. glad to see it back up and i continue where i left off..
It's wild and weird how many Psylocke sculpts there are now, and they are all in almost identical poses. Abe3D, Yan H, VX Labs, NuskulArt, the list goes on and on.
Envy your talent so much. I wish I could do this with my prints (which are all just left grey) but my hands just shake too much and I can't paint in the lines :)
Hi! I really love your paint work! I think you are the best I’ve seen. I was wondering, do you ever do painted print models for sale? I wanted to request if you could do a 14 inch tall Judy Alvarez from Cyberpunk 2077 figure. She’s a very loved video game character by many people. It seems that no one yet has ever done or made a Judy Alvarez figure, so you might be the 1st one on youtube. She has lots of tattoos, so I believe those can be done with water-transfer method. I would be interested in buying a Judy Alvarez figure from you, if that’s ok with you. I’m just getting interested in learning how to do airbrush painting & your videos really inspire me & really make me want to learn. Your videos are awesome!
Thank you soooo much for those kind words. That means the world to me to hear that. Right now, I don't do any commission work. As far as that character, I'd be interested to see if there's a file available to print and paint. If I found a good one, then I'm definitely open to that one! I'll keep my eyes open for a model of her.
It's all about the prep work before paint. Just take your time. Make sure to patch up gaps and seams. Sand where you need to and remove all dust. When you hand brush, do it in layers so you don't have streaks. Use a good sealer in the end.
Just found your video and gave you another sub. I've got an Anycubic photon mono 4k and am so addicted to printing and figure painting is now my true love. 🙂Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist
Henry, maybe a silly question here but in general when you do washes do you use a paper towel like you did with the face and get off as much as you can eg on the: Base/gun metal parts?
Quick question: I don't have an airbrush, I have a big figure I want to paint do you think is best to paint the parts separately or assemble and glue the figure first and then paint it?
Another great video ! I'm realizing that I am doing everything wrong and you are helping out a ton. Can you recommend a set to get for the air brush? I'm looking and I have no knowledge of it I just bought army painter mega set because thought my paint was bad but seeing now that air brush and coming in with detail with paint is what most do for clean paint Jobs all your info helps if you've already mention I'm a video or anything just refer me to that if easier I'm bout to buy a air brush too but want to make sure I get what is right and need for these projects
@The Creative Collector is Vallejo paint brand or air brush ? Trying to see what app need for an air brush o see they have different packages but idk whats what in those packages besides the extra paint in some
@@TheCreativeCollector I liked your technic no bunch of colors on top of others just one skin tone, even you previous mixed , its just one paint no layers no zenithal etc
Love all the painting process, its so satisfying. I always wondered, how many bottles of resin does it take to print those 1/6 sculpts you uploaded from Wicked and B3Dserk? and 0.5kg or 1kg per bottle?
It depends. I hollow all of my models so some don't take as much as others. The basic ones take around a 1500 to 2000 grams most of the time. Sometimes not even that much.
I haven't done a video for that yet. I'm thinking about making one on supports since I get asked about that a lot. If I do, hollowing will be part of that process.
what are you using to hold the models in place while painting them? I got some aligator clips but they just aren't doing the trick for different sections I'm test printing right now.
I use alligator clips or skewers in the holes I put in them or I just hold it with my hand but make sure I seal the part first so the paint doesn't wear off.
Is it cheating if I have the same model and do exactly what you do? Lol It still comes out much different, different colors, washes.... however out of all the channels on UA-cam, I find you have the best touch of instructing. I might have even said this before. The characters you paint and collect are right down my alley. Just watched your Wolverine museum piece and it's so badass!
Please, if you have such an opportunity, make a video about Kitana, Milena or Jade, very beautiful characters from the MK universe, it will be very pleasant and interesting to watch your cool work. Thank you in advance
another great job with the vid and model, as always :) a question, if you were to use the airbrush for the shading step, what type of colors would you use instead of the pastels ?
Great video. I watched my wife apply make up, the only thing I learnt was how she'd look as a s*x doll when she applied mascara!!! Lol. I always learn something here.
The hair and the costume still look kinda flat, imo. Couldve added blueish highlights to the hair and bit more dark and light color variance on the costume.
I'm thinking about getting some 3-D models in there but some aren't to paint it I'm trying to using the same paint as I do for the war hammers and that is that good pink to go with
Sorry for the delay. I had an audio issue, so I had to re upload the video.
That,s okay I know you always reply to any of my questions and i don,t mind waiting for your answer
I leave an extra comment because of how spot on this "paint basics" video was for me.
I found you're channel by accident while looking up miniatures. But it is more than I was looking for.
Where was this video 2 weeks ago when I needed it. LOL Love the idea of pastels for the makeup. Gonna steal that idea. Great video!
Thanks for the kind words!

please make a video on filling cracks how much to apply and sanding and all
There's a video already there for you. Scroll down the older videos and you'll see it.
The whole reason I am learning to sculpt in Blender and want a 3D printer... nice vid!!!
I always enjoy your content. I learn a lot and I appreciate that you show all the paints and products you use. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! Will do!
Great video for beginners. Makes me feel much more confident going in.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with those just starting out. Your videos are awesome! A big hug from Brazil!
Glad it was helpful!

You’re a superior teacher, sir. Thank you.
I like all your videos but this has to be one of your best tutorials to date. Great job Henry.
Thanks so much man! I really appreciate that!
Love the attention to detail! And great tips about putting on "makeup".

@@TheCreativeCollector all good brother, im literally watching your video and did my base coats on my carnage from prey's patreon.

excelent step by step video. I lern to much with you
Glad to help
Would love to see you paint the Nom nom studio's sephiroth.
Thank you for making such good videos and helping people learn how to paint figurines. I wish you success and new good videos

Yes and most of them very revealing or half naked.
@@TheCreativeCollector Yep. Of the NSFW versions VX Labs is definitely the best (at least among the versions I own).

Have you tried using some type of optics? It helps me a lot and keeps my hands from shaking.
Some great tips on this one, will definitelyapply some myself. Also an awesome paint job as always!

Awesome! Thanks a bunch
great painting tips, thanks for the video.

How can I follow you Instagram ,m
There's a link on my main page on the header.
Is there a way to follow you on Instagram to get to learn how to paint ?
Thanks
great video nice tips
Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for the tips - You make it look so easy
Do you have more vid on the basics?
There are some covering some basic things. Just take a look and see what you might be looking for.
How do you get your models to look so good. Can’t get mine to come out like that
It's all about the prep work before paint. Just take your time. Make sure to patch up gaps and seams. Sand where you need to and remove all dust. When you hand brush, do it in layers so you don't have streaks. Use a good sealer in the end.
So cool man!!! How do you seal the model before you use the pastel chalk??
I just use a flat clear coat before and after from a rattle can.
Great video and skills 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
don't know if you covered this in another video. What type of printers do you use?
I try to disclose what I use in the videos but the main ones I use is the Uniformation GKTwo, Linant Deck and Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K.
Just found your video and gave you another sub. I've got an Anycubic photon mono 4k and am so addicted to printing and figure painting is now my true love. 🙂Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist
Awesome, thank you!
Henry, maybe a silly question here but in general when you do washes do you use a paper towel like you did with the face and get off as much as you can eg on the: Base/gun metal parts?
No for those parts I just let it dry then maybe drybrush over it.
What gloss product did you add on the lips and eyes near the end?
It's just a clear gloss varnish from Vallejo.
@@TheCreativeCollector thanks, do you thin it before application?
For just the eyes and lips, no. It's kinda thin straight out of the bottle
Where do you get those sticks you use to hold the parts while you paint??
I got them from hobby lobby but you can use skewers.
Quick question:
I don't have an airbrush, I have a big figure I want to paint do you think is best to paint the parts separately or assemble and glue the figure first and then paint it?
I would try painting them separately. It makes it much easier to put together.
did you post this in the anycubic group today didnt know that was you anyway haha i commented saying great job especially the eyes
I did! Thanks again for watching.
@@TheCreativeCollector most welcome great stuff mate
Do you accept to make a resin statue for an individual?
Sorry. Right now I don't do commissions.
If you need to make the skin lighter as I,m doing a angel do you drybrush the skin again with the tone you already put on
Correct
@@TheCreativeCollector thank you so much
Awesome video very helpful....what kind of sticks do u use to hold small parts i cant find anything like those
Thanks! Actually I use kabob skewers and put some alligator clips on the ends.

@The Creative Collector is Vallejo paint brand or air brush ? Trying to see what app need for an air brush o see they have different packages but idk whats what in those packages besides the extra paint in some
Is there too much difference between Vallejos game and model paints? If so, to paint models and I only have game paint, will it look ok?
To me there's not much difference except I think the game paint goes on smoother and I think its supposed to be stronger.
Great job, sucks I can never do this because my hands shake
Awesome! What skin tone did you used on it ?
Thanks! I used a mixture of my own colors. I just toy with it till I get the tone I'm looking for.
@@TheCreativeCollector I liked your technic no bunch of colors on top of others just one skin tone, even you previous mixed , its just one paint no layers no zenithal etc
what mix of paint did you use for highlights thanks
I just used a lighter tint of that color by adding a little white to it.
Amazing job! what paint did you used for base skin?
Thank you. I mix up my own color for skin.
Hi which resin and printer is your go to for your figures?

another great job with the vid and model, as always :) a question, if you were to use the airbrush for the shading step, what type of colors would you use instead of the pastels ?

what skin tone did you use?
I mixed my own.
