The punishment of Donald Blake by Loki is actually a reference to norse mythology. After murdering Baldur, Loki is sentenced to be chained up in a cave for all eternity, with venom dripping down upon him, causing him unimaginable pain until the world ends.
At this point with Thor and Venoms stories during the last few years I am becoming more convinced that Knull and the Symbiotes are somehow connected with the asgardians.
I'm really surprised you decided to cover this considering we don't know how long Al Ewing's run of Venom will go but this Thor tie in right after having a VS fight run with The Hulk is awesome. Color me surprised.
Great video as always. Can you start listing the comic books that these videos are based on ? I believe that used to be done, or perhaps I'm not aware of where that is. I would love to read the comics this video is based on. Either way, great work as always and love the content !
I know what loki did to Donald Blake is what similarly happens to loki in Norse mythology after he starts ragnorok. I believe that is his punishment to have venom from a snake drip down into his eye or an open wound everyday until the end of time , until the start of ragnorok which inevitably saved him .My knowledge isn’t complete on Norse mythology so I could be a little off
That's so cool. What Loki did to Donald Blake is what the Gods of Asgard did to Loki in the original myths. They tied him down with the entrails of his own kids and the snake dripped painful poison in his face and eyes for ever until Ragnarok came. So dark!
3:34 In norse mythology, this is the traditional punishment of Loki… chained to a rock below the Tree of Life yggdrasil, where the world serpent drops poison on his head to keep his mind clouded so he can’t use magic… in other stories his wife Sigyn collects the poison in a bowl but has to empty it from time to time, so the poison reaches him… fun stuff… and now Donald Blake gets this treatment? The irony…
In the actual loki mythos, after kling baldur, loki was bound to three rocks and skadi fastened a snake above him so that the venom would drip. Loki's wife would hold a bowl to catch the venom, but when she would go to empty it, the venom would hit Loki, making him shudder. And that's where earthquakes come from.
ism't the current venom run by Al Ewing? I've heard you refer to the current venom run as Donny Cates venom run a couple times. Am I missing something?
This also feeds into the ongoing storyline of venom’s symbiotic evolution throughout time that he was talking about with Kang and the furthest future version of himself i hope ‘cause this is the symbiote getting exposure to godlike cosmic power channeling electronic energy. Atleast I hope that’s what’s going on
Okay…so this symbiote was NOT venom, but like all symbiotes it imprints on the host, giving a lot of the copied power permanently to the next users, which was Donald Blake. So essentially Donald Blake got a MASSIVE amp to his already powerful self, and it’s interesting how we learned that even a weak “demon” like limbo could hurt KING thor when enhanced by a symbiote, considering in base he’s not even half as strong as the thing.
15:18 also seems he is amping up the power of the lightning by using the odin/thor force (according to marvel wiki also know as the all-power), so probably is too much all at once for him to resist
@@torrancemoore6152 yeah it makes no sense. Thor killed mangog when he teamed up with Thanos, Loki brought him back during the Ragnarok storyline, and mangog made the mistake of testing rune king Thor and we know how that turned out. It's almost like Thor has the Odin force in name only but has no idea how to use it, which makes no sense to me. 🤷
Can we please get.... Grim Reaper(Eric Williams) explained Rob Jefferson explained videos please 🙏🏾(not giving up) .....Rob Corps I need your help like Lord Schnitzel
In actual Norse myth Lokis punishment for killing Baldr was being strapped down to a stone by his children's entrails under a venomous snake who would drip venom into his eyes forever. But his wife Sigyn held a bowl to collect the venom so it wouldn't hurt her husband.
I see so the current Thor storyline is Thor walking a mile to everyone shoes. Spider-Man's done something similar that I don't think Spider-Man's ever been Thor
I like Cates, he’s incredible when at his best but he’s kind of exhausted the gimmick of “what if we make X version of X character by mixing X with X…” like how many times has he done this already to make new OP characters?
Wait so low-key shifted his punishment over to Donald Blake? Well considering how many times Loki has done something to earn that punishment throughout the reboot to the Multiverse I can see him doing that and Donald Blake himself has killed more versions of Thor than any Loki I have ever seen

I thought that was a cool reference too
aye I remember that from the Loki in the Sandman comics
love a good reference
Fun fact: loki was tied up using body parts of his own kids
@@stanlee69 true! i was gonna add this but i’m glad someone also has read into the screwed up life of norse mythology loki 🫡
I love the evolution for venom as a character in recent years I’ve always loved the symbiotes
At this point with Thor and Venoms stories during the last few years I am becoming more convinced that Knull and the Symbiotes are somehow connected with the asgardians.
God I hope not.
That's an interesting take if they go that route I hope it makes sense and isn't too complicated
Odin probably did it lol, he was good at doing things.
@Gotcha Odin just does stuff, then shoves it in a closet, then Odin sleeps until it goes away 😴
Well Thor was the reason the symbiotes were able to break free from Knull's control
As always Thor and Hulk's stories are awesome as of late. But damned if Donald Blake is not having it rough 😂
Finally some more content, I've been struggling my man.

What a time to be alive when Eddie Brock is in the same weight class as Allfather Thor. Not just regular Thor, mind you!
Excellent recap Rob!
D-d-d-DANG! Keep it up your story telling is amazing
Welcome back Rob

I liked the new thumbnail style
Dude I enjoyed this one , can't wait for what's next
I want to request a DC top 20 most powerful characters hierarchy. But, if I’m being honest, I’m just happy you’re back on the airwaves.
All father Thor + Meridius thats an insane combo
I like the new thumbnails

Wow. These stories are getting crazy out of control.
Wow didnt recognize your video in my feed with the new thumbnail. Looks kool tho.
New thumbnail style ? I like the old ones but a change up is always welcome

Me: Do you think I'm new here?!
The 🐐 is back
“Argggghhhhhghhhh” - Klyntar

Mentioning Donnie Cates, but Cates isn’t running the show no more. He quick during hulks run
Dudes gonna be Thor after all these fights before he can even think about Thanos
OK... AMAZING!!!! NUFF SAID!
It's better to mention the comic title and issue before starting, Rob!. We will appreciate that really much!!!.
donny cates saves thor franchise! love whhat he's doing in thor comics!!!
Character Explanation: Mammoth Mogul(Archie Sonic)
Character Explanation: Darth Krayt(Star Wars)
This was a wild n fun Thor story !
Dude said darkhawk and I got hyped. Let's go marvel snap
I'm happy Robs trying to return to some sort of reliable schedule or to at least follow up on recent storylines ongoing however bittersweet
Do a vid of when heroes died and either sidekicks or amateurs picked up the mantle. My boy Thunderstrike needs some love!
Nah
Donald Blake turns into eddie brock 😂
Who's the creative team on this arc?! The writing is good and that's the best looking Venom I've seen in ages!
Lol promethium dang ace vane was onto something
Did you say Darkhawk? I love that guy!!
I love all venom videos 🔥
Can you cover the rest of the Maestro Origin story?
I cant help but find it really funny that thor was the one that sent peter to the room with the symbiote. Kinda poetic🤣🤣🤣
I loved this story line so far
ism't the current venom run by Al Ewing? I've heard you refer to the current venom run as Donny Cates venom run a couple times. Am I missing something?
That ending was so fire

I’ve been thinking dude are you ok I’m worried about you
Beyond Omega Level: Icon (DC Milestone Comics)
15:18 also seems he is amping up the power of the lightning by using the odin/thor force (according to marvel wiki also know as the all-power), so probably is too much all at once for him to resist
This guy looks like Red Piccolo
"craps his pants", twas, worthy to be quested to sound in mine hearing, amidst all the realms of thoutube for.
Bedlam child symbiote is dangerous👀🔥
Feels like cates is working his way too the - venom the end- story line
The hand of friendship☠️
Poor Donald Blake.
Hey, Rob who do you think will win, Pre crises superman or Merged Sentry.
Rob where have you been I feel like In haven’t heard from you? Plus what happens to the other channel?
If Piccolo and Frieza were to merge, here you go.
Yeah it's called cell my guy lol
Beyond omega level: the divine creator
Darkoff look like orenji pikkoro
Rob, How do you feel John Campea giving you a shout out ! My favourites UA-cam'ers
I almost didn't click on this video because I didn't think this was your video because of the thumbnail change lol
Thor literally killed mangog twice.
So...huh?
It's weird that they both do and adamantly DO NOT want to give Thor skyfather status
@@torrancemoore6152 yeah it makes no sense.

This story sounds exciting
Doesn't Thor still have power cosmic? Or is that gone now? And how if it is?
Hey Rob, can you explain:
Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics)
This was sweet 🎂
I'm guessing you found me here and i found you here as well😂😆🤣
@@kingshadow8782 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe this is thors turn to get his own type of spider verse where he becomes every single marvel character by the end of an issue
I wish they had a way to show when Thor is actually actively USING the thorforce to amp himself.
My boi getting saucy lol hitting us with 1 vid a week and banging out 35k in the 1st 48... fucking UA-cam goat
I think maybe you titled this video backwards.
Hand of friendship 🤣😂👊🏿🍻🍿
Can we please get....

Rob Jefferson explained videos please 🙏🏾(not giving up)
.....Rob Corps I need your help like Lord Schnitzel
Hey Comics explained I was wondering if you could continue your omega / beyond omega level and introduce “ Loxias Crown” or Hunger and Raven(Dc)
Has anyone noticed the Thor/Venom look just like the old what if story?
In actual Norse myth Lokis punishment for killing Baldr was being strapped down to a stone by his children's entrails under a venomous snake who would drip venom into his eyes forever. But his wife Sigyn held a bowl to collect the venom so it wouldn't hurt her husband.
Brightburn Request👿Beyond Omega Level: Kulan Gath
Bedlams child hmmm interesting since we got a bedlam now in venoms current run🧐
Whoa...
Hasn't the Bifrost been broken before? And if so, shouldn't they already know how to fix it?
Baron Mordo explained please!
The current venom run is good but very confusing
Are we ever going to finished fight club, umbrella academy comic story?
There’s no scenario in which Venom should even be able to contest Thor
He's the King In Black buddy. Don't like it? Cry about it.
I thought in the God of Hammers storyline it was stated that the God of Hammers/Cosmic Storm in Mjolnir was the cause behind the Donald Blake stuff
I was confused by the new thumbnail for a moment
I see so the current Thor storyline is Thor walking a mile to everyone shoes. Spider-Man's done something similar that I don't think Spider-Man's ever been Thor
I feel like I'm looking at a mid 90's Spawn comic.
Doesn’t Meridus look like the God deity in the move NightBreed, I think the city in the movie is called Meridian too
My nigga! BigRobDawg is back!
I like Cates, he’s incredible when at his best but he’s kind of exhausted the gimmick of “what if we make X version of X character by mixing X with X…” like how many times has he done this already to make new OP characters?
That was DOPE
Could Eddie Brock be Kang too?
Will we see all these Councils fight Thanos?
The mad Titan also has his son's power too
THIS IS THE SAME video from a few days ago
Wait so low-key shifted his punishment over to Donald Blake? Well considering how many times Loki has done something to earn that punishment throughout the reboot to the Multiverse I can see him doing that and Donald Blake himself has killed more versions of Thor than any Loki I have ever seen
