If you didn't feel the preaching of the Gospel in today's reading, please read this letter again. I agree that it's one of the most powerful passages in scripture. Thank you TLC!
I love Colossians 1:15-20! Jesus is my all in all! He creates, sustains, upholds, saves, redeems, restores! So thankful that I am in hidden in Him. Col 3:12-17 show me what a life hidden in Chris looks like.
We are partners in Christ. Co equal heirs of the Kingdom. Lord, let me view and appreciate my brothers and sisters in faith as equal and fellow participants in Your service to this fallen world. Empower us Jesus to know Your Will and do it!
Aloha, praise the Lord, and good afternoon BR family. Paul reminds in his preaching what Christ has done for us. Disconnect from earthly things and connect with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, forbearance, forgiveness love, peace, thankfulness, and the words of Christ. All the praise and honor is to our God--He is where the JOY!!!
Whatever we do, do for God, be thankful. Hallelujah we are saved because of His LOVE. ”And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,“ Colossians 3:17, 23 ESV
My “God shot” was how Paul uses what is available to him in the flesh to encourage Philemon to be reconciled to Onesimus. Philemon 1:7,9,17,19,20. Another example was how Paul used His Roman citizenship in Acts 25:11 to not be given over to the Jews who want him dead. God provide what is needed to accomplish His will for us and others. He is our provider!
“In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.” Colossians 3:11 NLT I love this verse because to me it highlights how loving our God is for everyone. This verse shows that our God is not after the best of us, but rather he’s after ALL of us. This verse is so amazing as it just highlights the inviting and all loving nature of our Lord God, and further more highlights, the importance of Jesus’s perfect sacrifice. I pray today that we can all live in a way that invites others into the kingdom of Christ. God bless all of you today✝️💪.
Humility is key. Thank You Father for keeping me humble; for guiding me into all Truth; He is the image of the invisible God; Yes, first born, All things are created thru Him and for Him. He is God fully. Love these scriptures. He is where the Joy is. Amen. Thank you Tara- Leigh
I too want to continue want to grow my wisdom and knowledge. I want to know that I know that I know Christ powerful. I have died to self. I am a new person In Christ. I am loving TBR, thank you TLC he is definitely where the joy is 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Col 3:17, "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus "... and Col 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters "...
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:12-13 NIV I struggle with greed, my idols of money or success. I struggle with judgment of others. I often wonder if I am dead to my old self, and Christ is in me, why is the sinful nature so strong within me? God, help clothe me and any of my fellow members of Your Church who struggle with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Help my heart and mind be quick to forgive and help me love more willingly and in greater capacity. God, I need Your influence and guidance. Help give me a willing heart, one eager to receive Your instructions and a body and mind joyfully fulfilling Your Will. Let me be salt and light. Let me share You. God move me, change me, let me serve You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
What happens when I “set my sights on the realities of Heaven”? (Col 3:1) When I “think of the things of Heaven and not of earth” (Col 3:2), I know that I have died to this earth and my “real life is in Heaven with Christ in God” (Col 3:3) In fact, because when I join my loved ones in Heaven, I will also be “clothed in love” (Col 3:14)-for we Will wear garments of Light, the Life and Love of Christ-I need to live now the way that I will become; my future identity shapes who I really am right now: dead to sin, alive in Christ. So now is the time to put to death “the earthly things lurking within me: sexual impurity, lust, greed, and evil desires” (Col 3:5). This transforms my marriage and my family, loving them as Christ loves me (Col 3:18-20). Bring “heavenly minded” makes me so much more useful on earth, because God transforms my mind and heart and desires (Rom 12:2) when I know that I will be literally clothes in the Light and Love of Christ.
We are to do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus and give thanks to God the Father through Him (Col 3:17) and we are to work at everything we do with all our hearts as working for the Lord and not for people (Col 3:23-24).
Jesus Christ has the power to transform lives. It also changes how we view our work. Whatever we do, it is not for the glory of men, but for the glory of God. Being a follower of Jesus changes our status. We become children of God with equal rights, no matter our socioeconomic status. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Yes, and Amen to another great recap from TLC. Lord, help us to know that we know that we know that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone. And, as we continue to walk with Jesus, we are given transformed and renewed minds (Romans 12: 2).
Seems like Col 3:2-6, 10 is a beautiful and succinct summary of Rom 6-8: we have died with Christ and have our real lives in Him (that’s justification), so now we must keep putting to death what lurks within us-sexual immorality, lust, greed (and that putting to death is sanctification). So (3:10) let’s put on our new nature and we grow to know our Creator and become more like Him!
Colossians 3:1-2 NLT [1] Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. [2] Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. [12] Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. [13] Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. [14] Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. [23] Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. [24] Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
Does it actually say that he stole, or is it just implied? I see where Paul is saying that he will repay anything Onesimus owes, but I can’t see where it actually says he stole. Unless another version other than ESV says something that I’m not getting out of it. I’ll check but any insight would be helpful.
Colossians 2:15 KJV [15] and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Paul Was Talking About What Happened After Jesus Christ Gave Up The Ghost On The Cross. This was exactly what Jesus Christ did when he went to the hades/hell to collect the keys of hades and death from the hands of Satan and in doing so they wanted to force him to bow but Jesus Christ disarmed them and defeat them putting them to total shame and disgrace. Revelation 1:18 NKJV [18] I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
The sweet Gospel. It is the POWER of God to those who believe. We must share it.
