That would be a good suit except for one fatal flaw. You still have a human silhouette. It's very easy to spot you because your arms, legs, and most importantly your head and shoulders still have a solid shape. The transition from the human head to shoulders is very easy for another human to spot, even when colored the same as the background. That's the best part about the ghillie suit, it breaks up the shape of a human. It's not necessarily about making yourself look like a bush, it's about making yourself not look like a human.
The bow gives it away
I'm not a hunter, but a photographer, I was interested in this and this video was really helpful. Great video!!
I've become obsessed with your video and watched repeatedly after my initial comments. This kit is amazing!
I only saw you because I was looking for you had I walked into that wood with no knowledge I wouldn't have seen you at all.
Found you all times bar 1 but i was actually looking for you, I bet if you didnt know you were there it would be very easy to walk right past you Richard
Yes I was genuinely surprised how good that suit is when I viewed the footage back.
Got to admit a couldn’t see you it was the bow I saw, but like said if you weren’t looking you would walk straight passed 😂😂 excellent video click subscriber 👍
One way you could hide better is breaking up your shape. A crouched position like that forms very distinct shadows and shapes. I bet it's more comfortable than a ghillie suit though.
Great demo video. Most of the times that I found you was due to the straight lines or glossy finish of your bow. The suit performed very well.
Thanks for the review,I have the same suit so it's interesting to see how it looks in use. I've added bunches of jute cord to the hood and sleeves to help break up my head and shoulders outline. I also thought that the colours were a bit bright so stomped it into a muddy puddle to tone it down a bit which I think has helped.
In answer to questions about it being being one size, I'm a short arse, only 5' 3" so it's way too big for me but because the wrists and ankles are elasticated I've found that it fits me OK and I've had no problems with it.
I really appreciate the time and effort you took to bring this content. I live and bow hunt in the US. That suit looks really good.
Yes, considering the low cost I think it's a great buy and for a bow hunter it would really hide you in a stand.
This was a good experiment. I was looking for you and I found you about 50/50. I bet if I didn't know what you was doing there's no way I would of seen you. It works very good. Thanks
I will shortly do a much longer video where I have a greater variety of vegetation scenarios as the suit has already been shown in front of a few backgrounds for the purposes of a review.
I'll work out some sort of points system for the next video as I reckon people will find it fun to see how many points they can rack up for different clips.
Got me 7 times. It works real well, I like it.
Really good proof of concept. Great video Richard.

Grate test good job my friend
Great video on a great product.
Thanks man good review, I’m getting in to bow hunting, first hunt is in two week., I might try this out.
How did your hunt go
Thanks for the helpful video
Bear in mind that I am intentionally generally standing IN FRONT of any bushes or structure in this video to show how effective this suit is - it bugs me when I watch 'sniper' videos and they are behind a bush. That is nonsense.
I saw you every time for the first half but there came a point when you dissapeared. Nice video man!
Im glad you enjoyed it as I wanted to make a point of sitting in front of the cover to make it different from most ghilliesuit videos which tends to have guys hiding behind structure and bushes which is a pointless demonstration of a suit capability.
Thanks for watching.
That would be great here in the Appalachian's! Thankx for sharing!
bloody good suit and his not trying to hide . you would not see him if he was hiding .. i like it, well done mate from down under
Good video man. Been a whitetail ground slayer my whole life. Love the leafy suits so much fun.
They're so simple but very effective. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing half a forest either so it's all good.
couldnt find you in a few shots, great fun video. al
Great review mate. Very effective camo. I agree with one of the reviews on Amazon, it could be improved if the strips were attached at a more random pattern rather than straight strips. Great bit of kit for the price.
Yes the straight strips concerned me at first but it doesn't really make much difference when viewed from the prey perspective.
I'll work on a much longer more varied 'spot the shooter' video over the next few weeks as it was fun doing this one and seeing how it came out.
i seen some of you not when on top of the hillside but good job friend nice video sir !
I like that mate. worked very well. Regards JB.
Great review 👍👍
Nice one mate very effective, I was thinking of getting one of these for the autumn this year for the pheasants , I believe it's affordable too at around 20 quid so yeah I'm sold buddy, will add this to my inventory. Great vid.
Yes it is very affordable and with a decent pair of gloves and headgear is about as good as you'll get for the price. I'll do a 'spot the sniper' video over the next few weeks where I hide a bit better - this video was really to show the suit and how it matches / doesn't match different backgrounds.
it works really good under some shadows
Great job! Amazing. I'm sold. Many thanks.
(my other channel) Yes, for a cheap leaf suit the quality of the camouflage is great and I purposely chose not to sit behind foliage in the video to show the full potential of the suit.
It bugs me when I see videos of camouflage gear and it has the 'shooter' sitting behind heavy foliage or behind tall grass etc. - that tells the viewer nothing about the suit.
Nature fights back. Trees are starting to wield bows and move around. In your face, mankind!
Poison Ivy would be proud.
Woow, nice video and the costume is fantastic.
it an awesome suit bud !! i only managed to only see you 65% of the time but that because i know had to find something so if i didn't know it fantastic !! thanks for sharing
I will be doing a 'spot the sniper' video with many different environments and situations so hopefully that one will be fun to watch - may do a points system for it too.
Love it Richard. I spotted you in most but if no one knew you were there... only movement would reveal you and your position so it's a big thumbs up from me. Well put together. Great stuff mate. ATB Tony
Yes the field of view was quite narrow for many of those shots and the upper limb of the bow was reflecting light in a few of them too which didn't help.
I will shortly do a much longer video where I have a greater variety of vegetation scenarios as the suit has already been shown in front of a few backgrounds for the purposes of a review.
I'll work out some sort of points system for the next video as I reckon people will find it fun to see how many points they can rack up for different clips.
Pondguru
should be a little challenge Richard
Excellent tool
Thank you for video
I saw u in all but 5 so quite good
Really nice
Just ordered one for the good price not expecting too greater quality but do you think I could add artificial leaves easily to it
Great review Richard, i think in a real situation most people would walk right by you , it was only because we were looking for you and like me i think most people paused the vid before they found you.
Yes its a decent suit and I'll do a 'spot the sniper' video over the next few weeks where I am better hidden to give people a real challenge.
i always first saw the "tip" of your bow, but the suit works well
You're great, you get up to everything
That's the problem, I have far too many hobbies, lol
I don't hunt but I like that suite and it does blend in very well especially by the trees and fallen branches.
Yes even for non-hunters it would be a great one for wildlife photography / filming purposes.
Cracking video mate great bit of kit probably get on just for walking the dog in to freek people out when I in the fields shop lifters would have a great day wearing one of them in a garden centre no chance of spoting them lol
All the best of luck Craig
Yes you could hide in the displays and nab the thieves much easier, lol
that was fun!
I only didn't spot you the 4th time, but I think that's because I knew roughly what shape you'd be and because I was deliberately looking. Minus those circumstances and damn, this is a very good camo suit.
Yes for the price it's a great one but you really need the head gear and gloves too.
I think you blended in very well. I think knowing you were in the frame was the main reason I spotted you most of the time. Several times it was the upper arm of the bow that first caught my eye. The smooth surface catches the light and shows as a monochrome rectangle. That could be fixed with a bit of paint and some sawdust. Not much you can do about the circle of the scope but that was only a clue once or twice when your were close to the camera. Overall, pretty effective, I'd say.
Yes those parts of the bow were a give away but it was still good to show how well the suit matched the vegetation in comparison.
I will shortly do a much longer video where I have a greater variety of vegetation scenarios as the suit has already been shown in front of a few backgrounds for the purposes of a review.
I'll work out some sort of points system for the next video as I reckon people will find it fun to see how many points they can rack up for different clips.
I agree that the suit was very effective at concealing you amid the vegetation. I should make it clear that I paused the video virtually every time and mostly would probably not have found you if I hadn't. A couple of times I missed anyway.
The best way to play this game is with a catty every time a spot you am shooting lol, that was the game we used to play as bairns down Whitburn, German flecktarn is the best camo Ave ever found cheap aswel. Take care Liam.
That sounds painful but fun.
The times I could spot you, the bow limb gave you away! Really effective suit, and the price is right. My only question, is it a "one size fits all" because the ad doesn't have a dropdown size selector. Fantastic review and examples!!!
I gave my dimensions in the video description and while it fits me well there are a few people much larger than me saying it was too big for them so I'm not sure what's going on there. I definitely didn't want it any smaller / bigger.
I don't know how many shots you took, but in 7 of them I didn't see you until you moved, in another 4 I saw the top of the bow first. Being military trained I would suggest that was a major success as I knew what I was looking for.
Yes it was much better than I expected but unfortunately a few people thought I was trying my best to hide from the camera which was not the point of the video - however I will shortly do a much longer video where I do hide better as the suit has already been shown in front of a few backgrounds for the purposes of a review.
I'll work out some sort of points system for the next video as I reckon people will find it fun to see how many points they can rack up for different clips.
Cool 😎
This or a ghillie suit? I live in england (windsor) and my house is just outside a forest with lots of leaves and trees so might consider this
i could see you in most of them. its because its a little bright for your vegetation and it doesnt hide your shape well. i think adding a ghillie hat would do it good.
Nice, effective and cheap too 👍
many times i saw you immediately
Could not spot you at all when you were behind the trees. AMazing.
got you about 50% of the shots ,nice work ;) i would say they need it a bit darker ,even in winter you will need it a bit darker ;)
I'll do a longer video with a greater variety of distance and environments which should be a good one - I was pleasantly surprised just how good the suit was.
Your head gave you away every time as it was a different colour from your bottom half ie brown but the camouflage looks grate and did blend in
The fall Forest is the one I’m after !
I only reson I got you is the glare on the bow
Yep, spotted you every time. Always looked a bit out of place. BUT no camo works everywhere AND you didnt look human. In heavily hunted areas just being different is enough to spook deer. However i still LOVE that camo and your great video. Plus you admitted that you weren't trying g to hide as if really hunting...just a simple demo. It illustrates that good bush/hunting skills make the camo complete. Oh, and that movement attracts more attention than even bad camo. I know cause I'm a new (very bad) hunter still. I NEED good camo like this.
I'm glad you appreciate what I was trying to do as it is important to see how a suit performs when it is fully visible in different environments - there are already way too many videos on UA-cam where people are hiding out of sight in long grass, behind bushes or in a ditch showing how 'great' the camouflage is, lol
We also forget how great the visual acuity of the human eye is. We can pick up details better than animals.
Where's Richard?! Haha. Really good that. Although I have no real need for one...I want one!
It is a great kit for sure.
Pretty effective and looks more comfortable than a ghillie suit
very good but I have to ask. is that a bloody dinoasoar in your bush?
Yes it is alike a 3D jigsaw and I really should give it away to a school or something.
I found most modern hunting camouflage 3d leaf or just Mossy Oak and Realtree are way superior above any military ones. They are spinal vertebrates of my prepper gear.
might get a funny look in the local pub, but great autum cammo thats light and reasonably priced......
Yes the price is really attractive and the way the suit blends into different environments is impressive.
Hello Richard . Long time no see mate . I think the suit would go better in the dry dead wooded areas with greenery on the ground .By those dead brown bushes you blended in so well, If it wasn't for the top flat section of the bow & those straight lines on the suit ,i would have missed you . Very natural flowing movement of the material on the suit . Perhaps i'm use to seeing a Ghillie suit ,Do away with the stripes & cover the material completely in the leafy stuff. Great review of the suit . the gloves were the best !
Yes the top limb was a bit of a give away once you could spot that it made it much easier. I'll do a 'spot the sniper' video over the next few weeks where I am better hidden to give people a real challenge.
does the outfit have pockets?
You need a wrap for the bow.
I like that suit, it works everytime, am a bow hunter in wisconsin usa, and I had deer and people come to me at ten yards away from me and the never saw me, deers knew something was there but couldn't make sense of what I was, I swear to you I van see the deers squinting and looking in my direction like saying.. what that heck is that?? , anyways, I just wanted to share my experiences with you, greetings from Milwaukee Wisconsin, USA
why is there a floating head at the end of the video?
The bow is easy to spot.
Deer dont look for a bow lol, they never see my compound bow, or my crossbow, shotgun or my rifle. Human shape is what they look for
It's quiet easy to spot close up. But at a mid distance for a civvy suit and not actually optimised for the background it's very good. As a stand in front of camera test this is good. No huge rocks or trees in front of you LOL
Yes the many videos of suit tests where the wearer is behind thick cover defy logic as the ability of the suit is totally wasted so I thought I would do a realistic test.
I will shortly do a much longer video where I have a greater variety of vegetation scenarios as the suit has already been shown in front of a few backgrounds for the purposes of a review.
I'll work out some sort of points system for the next video as I reckon people will find it fun to see how many points they can rack up for the different clips.
I bought this suit
If I didn’t know what I was looking for then there’d be no way I’d find u
You should try crafting your own leaf suit
Darpa has some cool stuff you might like
As long as it isn't that headless robot or the freaky robot dog ....aaarrggghhh they would have me running for the hills.
they have snakes and dragons
would get you on thermal.. lolgreat stuffneil
Yup, no hiding from that....
nice job guy filmed good enough for tv show i bet you aint allowed to do this to scarry indeed
hunting is the right thing to do in life
hi, Richard try editing it in black and white as most animals see you will find yr invisable apart from movement. I have one of those suits and there great
That's a good point and I will do that in a 'spot the sniper' video I will be making shortly in a variety of different environments. I reckon I'll make a points system up so viewers can keep a score and see how they do at the end.
BTW the picture on the top of your channel looks very similar to a place quite near me called 'Hill End'.
hi again Richard I know hill end very well and it is a beautiful place often pass on my motorbike and been gonna wild camp there but havent as yet. the picture is of a wild camp I did at middleton in teesdale, another awesome place to enjoy the outdoors
It's not a million miles away but unfortunately I don't get over there much - upper Teesdale is very nice and it's too bad people associate the river Tees with Teesside and Midlesborough as they are awful places compared to further up the river.
so true , it is a lovely place further inland only 10miles from hill end . I believe yr further north been wathing and enjoying yr channel for a long time now , keep it up .
ja mam tiez a je to super kamoflaž
In my opinion the suit is a bit too dark when standing in a lightly colored bush but when hugging trees its very effective. And most cases I find your bow first since its not camouflaged at all so changing that to camouflaged rifle would make a big difference. Also adding a bit of jute or ordinary ghillie suit stuff on the hood/shoulders and hands would probably do the trick to hide you even better from the human eye when you stand or crouch and still not being too heavy to carry around. I've seen some guys using some big hobbyist needles to pull jute strings thru those 3D ghillie suits so no need to sew anything in there. Good review, thumbs up!
dude you had the advantage cause i could only load 240p
I think this is a superior camouflage to a ghillie suit that's made out of jute. It's lighter in weight and the leaves make it more natural in my opinion. I noticed that it was more difficult to spot you in darker spots. Might be because your suit is lighter.
I will shortly do a much longer video where I have a greater variety of vegetation scenarios as the suit has already been shown in front of a few backgrounds for the purposes of a review.
I'll work out some sort of points system for the next video as I reckon people will find it fun to see how many points they can rack up for different clips.
you need to take vegetation into your concealment setup to really blend in.
Also you need to not stand close to trees so much as this weird shape close to the trees give you away. I like to call that "tree cancer"
But I'm not sure which purpose this serves, is this for hunting or is it for military use? For hunting this is absolutely adequate.
What happened with the fish tank videos?
My channel has had a variety of content on for about 6 years, this video will be of use to you as it explains what I'm doing with the channel: ua-cam.com/video/LOhQcjxQdrU/v-deo.html
I would of died in 2 of those scenes, very good camo
I will shortly do a much longer video where I have a greater variety of vegetation scenarios as the suit has already been shown in front of a few backgrounds for the purposes of a review.
I'll work out some sort of points system for the next video as I reckon people will find it fun to see how many points they can rack up for different clips.
BTW, I like the dinosaur it distracted me on one shot.
Best camo effect although the person is almost free @ 9:54 10:35 11:32
The shine of the bow gives you away not the suit in my opinion.
To be honest even on the totally obvious shots, I only know your there because im looking for you.
Now go back to the waterfall tunnel and find out what was stalking you that night lol
Hmmmm...the hunter has become the hunted...I like it - that's one area I will be setting game cams soon.
im have te suit
Rambo: The final drop of blood 🩸
Nicked ya yance ya had a bit bof leaf flapn on top that pinned it
You have a cool accent where are you from
Saw more than I died, but I did die four or five times lol.
in reality is not a efficienty camo on short range. but is definely a good camoflauge for hunt and not for combat
that is a lot better than a guillie suit but one comment,,,,,the shape of your head and neck are the give away,, a little more material from the side of the head to the shoulders would make all the difference,, even when ya lose ya footing and say uhh as ya get up ha ha ha ,
Yes I was in a very upright position which didn't help but I will shortly do a much longer video where I have a greater variety of vegetation scenarios as the suit has already been shown in front of a few backgrounds for the purposes of a review.
I'll work out some sort of points system for the next video as I reckon people will find it fun to see how many points they can rack up for different clips.
When I got up with an Urrgghh... my knee had locked out and I had to bounce it back into joint when I straightened it up - consequence of a bad dislocation a few years ago, lol
