You guys have nailed it! I’ll need more content like this FOR SURE!! You both can’t be THIS TALENTED and not flex some of those muscles. Keep it up lads ❤
Also: LOVE your show. Would you ever consider discussions about… - Best Movie Scores / Conductors - Best Movie “Scenes” - Most under-appreciated Actors/Actresses (I nominate Toni Collette)
Cheers, fellas!! This was an absolutely fantastic episode! Great to hear you guys talk about all these different movies, stoked on a LOTR deep dive. Prince of Egypt soundtrack gets a ton of regular air-time in my house
I love how much overlap I had with your guys's favorites. Three of my favorites for sure are the mummy, Lord of the Rings, and pirates of the Caribbean. And I think what really sets those three apart is that they all have legit horror elements in them. Adventure movies need just that little bit of scary in them. Also, I agree, Rick is above Indiana Jones in my book.
There are quite a few perfect movies. I would include: Back to the Future The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Megamind Aliens The Princess Bride …maybe Guardians of the Galaxy…
9:11 for me it has to be Battle Los Angeles With Aaron Eckhardt it’s a movie I watched so many times growing up. There’s a scene in that movie I literally quote from word to word
Yo shout out to Tron: Legacy! Love that movie. Usually not a big fan of 3D, but seeing that movie in theaters with 3D was a borderline spiritual experience. So awesome.
Yes the fellowship! Can’t say I’m surprised, altough I would have thought that the Return of the King would have won our little competition. Personally, I prefer the first movie of a franchise because the last one always aims on quantity and epicness. The return of the king, Revenge of the sith , At world’s end, Endgame, the matrix revolutions,… they all have the big battles with many ships or men. all ‘doomed’ to follow a formula that is written in the stars. There is something about the beginning of story, that mystery feel. But it could just be as I love minimalism.
My list would include Aliens, Predator, LotR: Fellowship of the Ring, SW: Empire Strikes Back Raiders of the Lost Arc and my all time favourite Bladerunner. And now I am very curious about your picks
Oh man this is tough, my perfect movies: Fargo 2001 A Space Odyssey Raiders of the Lost Ark TESB Blade Runner (OG and 2049) LOTR trilogy The Dark Knight The Shining Jurassic Park Toy Story Man there’s so many 😂 I could go on all day.
I voted for Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse. I love the movie. I like it more than the first one. I was stunned at the end and would have been okay with sitting for another 2 and half hours to see part 3 then and there 😂😭 The music I love and it mixed in with the credits is top tier for me. It’s a top 3 Marvel movie for me including MCU movies. I would say Endgame but it’s just a tad too long and you need 10 years of other movies for it to have the emotional weight it has.
I personally, am just not a big fan of that movie. I totally get why it’s highly revered. It’s just not my jam. But, I think it definitely fits a lot of the themes we discussed here!

Thank you thank you, my friend 🙏
1:09:35 not to mention the SFX for the first three movies were incredible from Davy Jones- to the Barbosa skeleton crew 🤌🏻🤌🏻
Jaws has two “actors just acting” scenes that I ❤: the wine scene with Hooper, Chief and Mrs. Brody. And then the “Quint-essential” USS Indianapolis.

I love that you included TMNT it’s a very underrated movie. I have rewatched it as an adult and it was actually so good.
So underrated!
0:06 you know it’s a good episode when the pizza bites are being served
Good picks. I’d throw 2 more Hans Zimmer movies on there. Inception and The Dark Night are both pretty perfect.

The Spiderverse films are so SO good. While I really like Across, it will all hinge on how good Beyond is.
Fun Fact there were multiple people Disney wanted for Jack Sparrow before Johnny Depp
Sorry for essentially live reacting to this podcast, but Jaws was also the first movie I thought of when starting this episode.
Don’t apologize! We love that!
The one dvd to rule them all
Didn’t George Lucas get Inspiration from Hidden Fortress?
8:49 did you ever watch dunkirk
❤❤❤
It’s actually insane Back to the Future part 1 isn’t on that list or THE perfect movie
I personally, am just not a big fan of that movie. I totally get why it’s highly revered. It’s just not my jam. But, I think it definitely fits a lot of the themes we discussed here!
@@BeyondTheDuneSea totally respect bro(s), all great film choices for sure and I LOVE Fellowship, still holds up after 20+years.
