that's cool, but how to export multiple uv sets to c4d? for instance i have a model that uses 2 uv sets for which i have two different textures, how do i import them to c4d?

Hi ! thanks for the tutorial ! although I'm strugging with one problem, when I try to bake the textures (in substance painter) to use the normals of the high poly model for low poly model , it doesn't really work, it has seams on the UV edges. after some research I think it's because some UV edges have to be 'hard edges'. but C4D doesn't really have this 'hard edges' concept. do you know how to do that? (use low poly model but still make it look high poly).

I tried the auto unwrap in sub painter and my cube is simply not auto unwrapping like I saw in another video. I just don't know why. Just curious if you have tried it for fun and it it is working for you. Also I noticed that you can export in the FBX 7.7 version and I only have the 7.5 version... I googled and could not find how I could upgrade this in c4d. Just having a bad day now !

Forget about any UVing in c4d which is more demanding than balls :) Get yourself a favor, go grab and learn RizomUV (back in the days, the thing was Headus UV Layout, not sure how it stands today) or any other 3rd party dedicated tool for that matter. I can't imagine myself doing it again in Maya or Cinema. My impression - sth like sculpting in zBrush vs sculpting in C4D :)

Question: How do you intuitively know that the sphere needs to be icosahedron? Is there a rule to follow for this? I have no idea how to make these types of decisions or what they're based on.

seriously u couldnt pick a better model to use? no ones gonna use substance painter for a cube or a sphere

Well it's suppose to show the workflow more than complex UV Unwrapping.
