from NSW ,and noticed there's something different and really attractive about nothern queensland .it's nearly in the air .we were so dumb we nearly slept on the bank of the endeavor river at cooktown , right next to the water . haven't been up there for about 40 years .are the bloomfield hippies still there ?
The first time I did a Cape-York trip [up the east coast of QLD all the way to the top] was back in the 90s, was so much fun and being before GPS/mobile phones .etc made it feel really wild. We just had CBs and a VHF radio which needed its enormous mast antenna assembled before you were able to call the flying doctor service. Seeing others, such as yourselves, seeing the same sights years later is pretty interesting. There looks like there is a lot more "civilization" these days.
Living the dream. Just imagine how rough it gets beyond Cookstown (4wd only). Basically tribal. Be fun to see you all back down south with wave beaches. 🤙🇦🇺
I used to bring a trawler called the Del Fuego past the Daintree from Princess Charlotte Bay heading back to Cairns beautiful spot heaps of Bronzeys, shout out to Gordy.👍
I can remember going through Cape trib when they 1st put the road in it was all dirt no bitumen as soon as you got off the barge. It's gods country up there.
Dash of oil rubbed on the foil will ensure the skin doesn't stick. Well that's the theory but half the time it sticks anyway so :) Beautiful area you are exploring, my family has loved your journey and want to thank you for your vids. The production alone is incredible, plus you guys seem so nice, its wonderful being able to see our home through new eyes.
7:14 - "You can't go wrong with a little chicken salt." - You can if you have the wrong type. Mitani chicken salt: the original and the best. A man by the name of Peter Brinkworth originally invented chicken salt. Mitani purchased Brinkworth's recipe in 1979. It's not exactly the same as the original recipe, but it is the closest you'll find.
If you ever cook a Barramundi fresh out of the river all you need is to add is lemon wedges (and maybe a little salt/pepper and oil, if you like) in the slits before you wrap it and chuck it on the fire (or on the pan). Fresh Barra flavour is perfect with just lemon. You honestly won't need anything else, and it will be as good as any fish you've ever tasted. Also, you want to try eat your catch the same day without freezing it. You'll understand why when you taste the difference between fresh and frozen
G’day Mangrove jack is good eat’n, huh? I thin’ its up there with barramundi 😋 btw those chimney stacks yous saw on the way into Cairns is a sugar mill. Me & a mate hired a 4wd in the mid 1990’s & did Daintree, cape tribulation, eventually going on to Thursday Island off the tip of Queensland 😊 So peaceful up that way 😉 So happy yous are all enjoying our backyard 💕💕💕💕💕 Stephen 🇦🇺
No swimming on the Cape Trib beach at night either. There was a woman attacked there many years ago. I wouldn't even swim there in daylight. Try Mossman Gorge instead. Cold water, clear and no crocs or jellyfish. You might need a tour as the national park is now owned and operated by Indigenous Australians.
Just remember stay out of the ocean whilst your up nth. Fresh crocs and stingers. Not a place to swim and just as bad as inland rivers...it's wet season now.
OK, this is important, we only put chicken salt on hot chips, and other fried things from a fish and chip shop like a chicko roll or potato scallops . Its not a replacement for salt on anything else.

Bloody fantastic! Great fun times! It's beautiful up there.
Nice to see. Hope the paid campsite was refreshing for you.
At 14:45 is the Daintree tea plantation. If you’re tea lover, you should definitely give a try 😃
Nerada Tea plantation is close to Innisfail on the way south of Cairns. Also worth a stop.

Not oil. It burns and sticks. Butter is always the go.
