Hi- what products did you use to get the satin finish? Thanks!

I used a flaxseed oil and a finest steelwool, and did it by this manual: www.stdrums.de/tips/satinoil/satinoil.htm

HH.drummer this is exactly what I was looking for. Planning to de-wrap and finish my own drums. Why did you apply oil to the inside of the shell?

@@devnagel2235 It doesnt affect a sound, but a flaxseed oil preserves wood against the loss of its own moisture and at the same time prevents moisture from entering the wood from outside. So in the final, the drumshell doesnt change its shape and does not degrade after a long time.

@@Paulie.drummer Final question- why did you choose flaxseed oil over a water-based polyurethane? That's another method I've seen mentioned and was wondering if you considered it.

@@devnagel2235 I didnt use a PU laquer, because I dont have a dustfree room. I wanted to try some traditional way of finishing, and it is easier to repair some scratches on oil finish than on PU lacquer.
