    Bro...I'm 62. I've been playing drums since I'm 9 with very few days off. I consider myself a very good drummer. This man is just on another level, and even scarier...he's nowhere near his headroom. It's not just chops. His musicality is unbelievable. He plays so over the top , but never drowns out the song with stupid shit.

    • @PRC533
      @PRC533 Рік тому +52

      I think he just has such an expansive view of what might be possible with drums. He couples that willingness to go outside the box with just a relentless work ethic and the results are just amazing.

      It's the weed. It sounds like I'm joking, but I'm not.
      Check out what the human endocannabinoid system does (lots of things, but two of them are to slow down neuron signals, perhaps providing more detail to perceptual input, and in habit forming).

    • @Lucalikesstuff
      @Lucalikesstuff Рік тому +16

      I should clarify that it's not just the weed.
      It's a little bit of weed and a lot of very directed practice (8 hours per day apparently). And I think you have to spend at least some time every day doing the hard stuff that no one wants to do. And have fun!
      I've seen a similar pattern with other people who are amazing at what they do too (like Harry Mack).

      Don't.
      There's always somebody "better"
      The truck is to find out where your groove is, and play to that.
      Play to your strengths, not somebody else's.
      I play bass. I always wanted to be like Geddy. .But I'm not not him. But I get close :)

    This amazing song is the point where I´m in shock. The moment that EES use two sticks in one hand, and in the same time continue the rhythm with the other hand, AND IN THE SAME TIME, he changes between single-dual pedal with another structure... it´s insane. Specially when everything sounds smooth, clear and continuos, without loose the tempo. The totally independance of his arms and legs is incredible. Like you, i don´t have words for describe this guy. No fucking words. Respect, that´s all I can say. A monster.

    And to make it even more incredible, he is a very humble man. He doesn't hold himself in high esteem like you would think. He's always giving other musicians props. One drummer he fawns over is Eloy Grande'...Eloy is bonkers as well, but Estepario consistently makes your brain scribble with seemingly effortless patterns, times, grooves, and on and on and....He also encourages everyone to push themselves to be better through practice practice practice..!! We're all extremely blessed to get to consume such brilliance..!! But that's just me talk'n...

    The man starts out with 8ths played over 4/4... Moves to 8/4 with 32nd triplets within the 4/4... During the bridge it's 16/4 but when he flips the stick from his belt it moves 32... This is a man who knows that every POP song written with a Lynn drum machine would have been served better by a real drummer

    I absolutely love when real drummers react to this... past all the flash and bang they "know" how hard it is to do one of these things perfectly whilst maintaining rock solid back-beats clean as a whistle but then let's just for fun do 4 at once... and make the song sooo much better as a result. His limb independence is staggering to watch but my favourite thing about Jorge is his insane orchestration and musicianship. Love your reactions...

    He also has a very good recording set up. I have the duelist D2 pedal. It is all about mic placement, and/or use or a trigger, to hear it come through with live band. But that said yes he cranks them way harder than I do. He also changed the batters, using custom. On the double kick setting of the Dualist, pushing against the set of two springs needs a lot of muscle to move them. It is a massive workout.
    And yes, he is an absolute beast. He talks about the dozens of hours it can take to get a perfect take on his videos. Love love love this guy

    En realidad lo que hace el Estepario va más allá de contratos, dinero, grandes grupos, grandes escenarios lo que el hace es pasar a la historia como uno de los mejores musicos de todos los tiempos.
    Esto no es más que la carta de presentación, dentro de poco comenzará con la producción propia y después armara un grupo a su imagen y semejanza para entrar en la historia como el mejor de los mejores. Ahí hablaremos de nuevos tiempos en batería.

    Seems like the equivalent of a gamer watching pros and realizing the chasm between them: are we even playing the same game?
    Your reaction makes me appreciate the craziness even more (first time I was half listening, half watching and didn't realize the dual drumsticks 🔥)

    He's mimicking a cabassa, or other shaker... He's hitting the up beet, down beet... You have never seen a drummer do this... Peart is my ultimate, but this guy is at a whole different level.

    How he does everything with his hands/arms while operating that double pedal is wild

  • @TRPLD
    @TRPLD 11 місяців тому +6

    There is a short of him out there (something like "proof I am a computer") where he plays 16ths with his left, 3rds with the base drum, 4ths with the high hats, and 5ths with the right hand. It is not funny how on point he is!

    One of the few occasions where El looks actually exhausted when done and good job. You are one of the few that react that noticed the double sticks because most concentrate on feet only and completely miss the best part. Gravity blasts and double stick hi-hat.

    • @timcummings6581
      @timcummings6581 Рік тому +1

      Plus in addition to the gravity blast with his right hand he's doing a short one with his left hand at the same time! Insanity!!

    i use to do the 2 sticks in one hand thing as a teenager, just messing around on the hi hats. it felt impossible. the upstroke hit is a whole different skill to learn and is not nearly as intuitive as the downstroke. Insane he made it legitimate

    The foot peddle has a switch that activates a mechanism that turns every single strike into doubles, hence playing two peddles gives him quads. It deactivates on a stop .

    The first drummer I ever saw doing the two sticks in one hand thing on the hi-hat was Darren King from Mute Math, still I can guarantee even Darren will be floored with Estepario's skill.
