When this song was revealed way back when Donkey Kong Country Returns came out, it hit me at a point in my life where I felt entirely devoid of comfort. Many of the things I loved were falling apart at the seams, especially game series and other media and I was constantly on edge and dreading what would collapse next around me. When I heard this song, it was an immense relief to me, in ways that are hard to explain. It was proof positive to me that something good remained in the state of gaming, and in the state of the world as a whole, in a very dark time. I don't really know if things have gotten better, but there's always things like this out there. Moments of glittering gold amongst the overbearing cynicism of what's become of the industry. We haven't lost everything, not yet. And, bizzarely, Donkey Kong stands as one of the strongest testaments to that fact, at least to the day I wrote this.
This is my brother and I's unbeaten childhood game...until yesterday! We were both little kids, wandering around in our local gamestop when we saw this game and I guess asked our dad for it. I don't remember how, but an employee wound up warning my brother and I that the game was extremely difficult. "Nah, we're good at these types of games." I said, pulling out a copy of New Super Mario Bros Wii (as that was one of our favorite games that we still play today). The employee was right. The game was stupidly hard. We fought every time we played the game. Many years later, my brother suggested we play it throughout summer. I hesitantly agreed. Sure enough, we beat the game on June 28th, 2024, after all these years! And we're moving onto Tropical Freeze pretty soon as well...
I don't know how I beat this game in like Elementary/Middle School. I remember specifically the final level to get the final boss annoying me so much, those dam flaming spiked pillars and hot air balloons. Like wow, I must've had a lot of skill or talent in Donkey Kong games if I beat that as a little kid.
Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
This song makes me turn the volume to the maximum, without any regard for my ears.
This song is so good
I cried tears of joy upon seeing this game for the first time. I can’t believe it’s been 14 years…

I stayed in the menu for much longer than needed for this music. Great memories!

Congrats on beating the game! It's definitely extremely challenging. Tropical Freeze is very similar in its difficulty at times.
Why'd you do that when you could play it easier on the 3DS version?
Incroyable cette musique

I prefer the original because of the monkey rap bars, but this is still fine

Gotta say the original song is better than this one
