I'd wonder if adding another coat of resin would help Bean survive longer by preventing air and water ingress.

Years ago, my Aunt and her daughter bought an uncarved pumpkin that had the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team logo painted on it. They put it on their front porch as a fall/Halloween decoration. After the season ended, the pumpkin still looked perfectly fine so they brought it in the house and put it on a table in their sitting room. They figured they would keep it until it started to degrade. It never did. It must have somehow dried out on the inside without changing on the outside. Eventually they started storing it with their other fall/Halloween decorations, putting it back on the porch when the time came. This went on for at least two years, maybe more, I can't remember. Then one day it started to deform and degrade. Some moisture must have finally gotten inside and it began to rot. It was a sad day in that house when the Magic Phillies Pumpkin was finally taken out with the garbage.
Did the Phillies win those years? If it did can i have your permission to talk about the magical Phillies pumpkin n make up some story about that's why they won lol
Gourds are used for maracas, so this doesn't surprise me. Did it make any noise after a while?
@@Queenofthatank I can't even remember when exactly this was, let alone how the Phillies were doing at the time. But you can talk about the Magical Phillies Pumpkin and make up any stories you like. Just keep in mind that I can't confirm or deny that any of it is true besides what I said in my first comment. 😉😂
@@alli_mode I don't recall it making any noise at all. But I do remember that it was much, MUCH lighter than you expected it to be when you picked it up.

You should re-resin Bean and use it for Halloween decoration.
Another layer/coat of resin could smooth out the surface and help Bean survive for the next year, or even longer!

Nice!! you guys should cover it with resin to seal it up and see if it lasts another year, you could even put something memorable of each year in the resin so that you can see the evolution of it and also how old it is.

I remember as a kid making shrunken apple heads. I think we used lemon juice and maybe salt.
