For those of you who aren't from Texas: Houston is a good 4/5 hour drive from San Antonio. The fact that Evan made that drive every weekend is so adorable. Your story is so cute, love you guys!

Every now and then Evan looks at the camera and gives us a look like “oh yeah, I’m soooooo smooth 😏. I’m so sweet and romantic. Oh yeah, I pulled that off”. I think it’s so funny

My mom has 11 brothers and sisters. 1/2 of that plus partners and kids is like 50
This was so fun and interesting to watch, not only because your relationship is so sweet, but because there are eerily so many similarities to my own proposal story!! My fiancé woke me up with a scavenger hunt on the day we were meant to celebrate our 4 year anniversary (also not suspicious for him, so I had no idea). The hunt took us across the city doing many activities together, including a couple's massage, and then back to the site of our first date, on which he played a video for me with all our friends and family wishing us a happy anniversary (STILL no suspicion raised). He then proposed and said we were going to a fancy dinner after a "pit stop" at my cousin's house (also not unusual). When we arrived, it was a surprise engagement party with all our our family and friends. I think I sobbed for a straight hour. Your story just gave me so many good flashbacks to all of that♥️♥️♥️

The alternate plan where Evan was in a giant box made me laugh so much! My college roommates freshman year legitimately gave me a "boy in a box" for my birthday. They got the guy I had a crush on to stand under a huge box in their kitchen with a flower, hahaha.
Also, when my husband and I were talking about marriage, I told him he could stick the ring in a Pokeball and throw it at me if he wanted to. (He didn't, though.)
I avoided watching this because me and my Finacee broke up like 5 days before it was posted, but honestly, watching this just made me so happy. You are both so happy and perfect together and I realize now that I never really felt this joy about my engagement or our relationship. Thank you for posting this and letting us share your joy! I hope you both continue to have so much joy and happiness in your future
Ha, sorry for the response 2 years later, but yes, they really do set the bar for a healthy and loving relationship. I hope your life turned out better than you could have imagined when you posted this, and you found this same joy.

My engagement ring and wedding band are very simple also. I love them dearly. We've been married 32 years!

Is it just me or does Evan have a real women’s influence in his life like yes he’s oblivious but he’s also intuitive and observant and puts a lot of effort in. It’s awesome to see and I want to see more men like that!

I had trouble finding a ring “simple” but specific enough as well. We also custom designed my ring and I am so glad we didn’t settle for what we were finding at the usual jewelry stores. It’s special!

This was amazing. All I can say about the last company Evan worked for is, you lost the most creative idea-generating product development person that ever lived. I cannot fathom the number of ideas Evan generated for the proposal AND documented them. WHAT!!!!! Fantasic. You guys are so cute.

This reminds me of me and my fiancé. We were super long distance (I’m in western Canada and he’s in New Hampshire) but by like 3 weeks in I was 100% sure I was going to marry this boy. Now we’ve been together for 7 years and I’m so glad I get to marry my best friend. He proposed summer before last in a Barnes and noble and it was absolutely perfect.

Hey Evan & Katelyn! I love this story :) Makes me think about how me and my boyfriend met. We're 9 years together now, not engaged but he asked me to be his girlfriend in a very cute way. It's a long story, but if anyone is interested I'll write it down.
Long story short: he asked me in a break in highschool with a beautiful poem and a necklace with a key (the top of the key is shaped like a heart and it's embedded with zirkonia crystals)

I was watching this on my way to Mpumalanga ( a province in south africa) and I was just thinking how lucky they are to have a each other.
I too was oblivious and even a vacation proposal can work if framed right. My husband proposed near my birthday. We rarely go on vacations because of our dog, but that year he suggested we get a pet-friendly AirB&B and do a long weekend in St. Augustine. We like spooky so we planned ghost tours each night, and we had a friend couple come one of the nights. The night of the proposal we went out for dinner for my birthday all 4 of us, and then the two of us went on the ghost tour. I almost ruined it because while planning the weekend, I kept trying to insist that it's rude to invite the friends and then do an event they won't like (they don't like spooky things). But separating us to do the tour while they stay behind was purposeful so that they could set everything up. When we got back, there was a path of candles leading to a snowglobe with the words "Play me" and when you turned it on a train circles around with the words "Will you marry me?" IDK if he had a speech planned because I said yes before he was able to even completely get down on one knee. And I had no idea it was coming. (I mean I knew it would come at some point, we were on the same page about that, but I wasn't expecting it that weekend).

That was gutsy recording all her friends and family congratulations and best wishes before she said "yes"? I've seen two very well planned proposals end in disaster when she unexpectedly (for him anyway) said "no"

kinda cute to think about, just evan trying to find a box big enough to hold him while hes like crouched like a tiny adorable gremlin while she opens it. hehe would have been cute but also just trying to think of how he would get the box and also trap himself inside in such short notice without making to much noise.
I will continue to put this on every twitch stream and podcast in the hopes that maybe someday it will happen. But I would LOOOOVEEEE a stream where Evan geeks out over the setup you guys use, like go through all the components and show how it all works!!
He did say they might do a follow up as they have done it once, but do not when though.

I literally saw her dream ring at tj maxx when my brother was looking at rings. It was sooo pretty. My dad also proposed to my mom at a family reunion. It was sweet. We take a picture at that spot every year.
I was so shocked and surprised when I was proposed to as there was so build up to it, that it didn't feel real. I feel bad that I didn't cry or laugh, it was just so unexpected.
You guys were meant for each other 🥺
