I attend chisholm middle school in 5th grade, graduated from newton high school in Year 1999. Last Year of millennium, i though i was little special. Newton a small town, everyone know everyone and friendly. Our family dont even lock the back door, that is how safe newton is. Wish i still live there.
Lord! In 2005 I was 17 running the streets of various different cities in Florida. Wild to see lovely Kansas like this. I was born here in Kansas, and was raised in the gutters of Florida. I came back here in 2016 and I love the safety, calmness, and small populations of Kansas. Truthfully speaking, life outside of Kansas is way different. I'd never raise children in Florida! Musta been nice to grow up here, but, anyways, I'm back here and enjoying it.
I spent my entire teenage years in newton kansas. Newton a small town, everyone know everyone and friendly. My family dont even lock the back door, that is how safe newton is, wish i still live there.
I grew up in Chanute, KS, i read alot of comments saying they miss ks, but i really don't miss it. Don't get me wrong the people are nice (somewhat) i just don't miss the long drives to get anywhere, or the fact that the state government just never seemed to care lol. Do hope that has changed though.
Every time I think Kansas my heart breaks even more and it hurts more I wish I could go back home to Kansas one day I'll be going home to Kansas hopefully soon
I am sure it has changed a lot since 1978, especially the interior. They have done complete renovations on the interior before I attended this school and have also done a lot after I had left, especially an add on to the building. The gym looks very identical to how it has always been besides fresh paint. I am sure they done renovations to it after I had left in 2007.

Hey, I know this is a weird question to be asking, but I'm the girl that lives in the first house of this video you probably remember me, but I need to know if you know of a secret room in the basement on that one wall next to the stair, I was cleaning as had found a wall peice popping out of its place with a latch, I unlocked it and it was filled with big rock, I just want to know if anyone else has known about this big room
Yes, I remember you. That room you are talking about is something I know about and seen as well, but I never went in due to the possibility of there being a ton of spiders. I did look into the wall panels and seen those rocks as well. There are also a couple of wall panels in the basement that pull away from the wall. They open up to beneath the house, but I would not recommend ever going into those "hidden rooms" due to the possibility you might get hurt or something else.
@@RealKansasMan I was just talking to my step dad about how I'm and my mom witness a old style work pants and boots some what resimabales what a farmer would were walking from the front doo/stairs to the east on the though the dinning area again and again doing the same thing and it had no upper half
@@RealKansasMan I found a sketch of the house from 1996 that's 24 years ago in the basement it said merry Christmas and then some name on the back I found it on Christmas Eve I put it in my room but ever since then i some paranormal stuff has been happening to me like for example I keeping getting random scratches on my leg like yesterday I was with my friend and we were sitting down and then I felt my ankle burning so I look and there was an upside down smiling face then later that day I got an x on my ankle I have a picture of it I was wondering if anything like this has happened to you maybe
@@audraburke653 Nothing like that has happened to me or my family when we were there. We have experienced some paranormal activity and very strange things, but nothing like that. Where in the basement did you find that sketch and what is the name on it?
I have a question how can you miss a place that you never been to and why do I feel like I have a connection to Kansas I can't explain it I feel like something is pulling me to Kansas I can't explain that I just wish I could afford to move down there maybe the question would be answered
The feeling you are referring to is known as Fernweh, which in English reads "Farsickness" It means being homesick for a place you've never been to. That feeling you are experiencing now is a common thing. At some point in all of our lives, we've experienced it at various levels. Sometimes that feeling is what makes people want to move or to travel. My best advice to you is that if you have a true desire to move here and don't immediately have the money, is to save up. You may not have the means at the moment, but if that desire in you is strong enough, you'll find ways, whether it be cutting back on certain spending habits or sacrificing time to take on a second job to save. I was always told that if I truly wanted something, I'd find a way to eventually make it happen. It may be painful and seem slow from the start, but the thing to keep in mind when feeling like throwing in the towel or feeling bummed out/stressed over your pursuit to save up, is to always look at the "prize" ahead. In this case, your "prize" is moving to Kansas. You have to ask yourself if it's worth it or not in the long run or if this is just a temporary feeling that will blow by. If this feeling is something that does not fade, but only increases or remains over time, then you know it's something you should go after. I had a similar incident happen to me years ago, but I let my emotions play out and let time pass before I made any final decisions. The worst thing you can do is to make a last minute rash decision based on current feelings and end up in a spot where you rush yourself to get here to only discover it's not at all what you thought it to be and end up having major regrets. Kansas is a very calm and peaceful place to live overall and is home to me, but there are certain parts of the state to you should entirely avoid. My final bit of advice to you is to not let this consume your every thought and emotion, otherwise it'll eat your sanity away. I am speaking from experience. Hopefully this helped you in some way. - Kansas Man -
@@RealKansasMan thank you for your advice and I will take your advice but this feeling ain't going to go away when I make my mind up to do something I do it thank you very much

How far is Newton from Hutchinson? It's about a 35 minute drive. That's sad they had torn down your old elementary school. It would've been nice if you had the chance to film it before it was torn down for memory sake. I was the same way as you when it comes to remembering things being bigger than they actually are. Glad you liked the video and thanks a lot for the very nice comment! I have more videos coming like this in the future. I am thinking of filming places I used to live in Wichita as well. And don't worry, your message came across clear. I have lived in MANY more places than just the ones I have shown in this video. This was only a fraction of the places I've lived in when growing up. I am thinking about doing a video of the places I used to live in Wichita, but for the other places I've lived in different states, I will not be doing that in the near future. This was the first time I had been back to some of those houses in years. It was like opening a window into the past and brought all kinds of memories with mixed emotions. Not gonna lie, but I've been sort of depressed over the last few days because of this. Some memories came back to haunt me while other memories made me miss everything good that once was. That's very cool that you have found this video and you happen to live in one of the houses shown in this video! I used to live in that house from 2004 to 2006. It was the first house my family moved into when we came to Newton. Just so you know that I actually lived in that house, I will share details about it's interior. That small bathroom on the first floor next to the kitchen , connects to a bedroom off to the left side of the house and also has the stairs for the basement right in it. In the basement, there is also a restroom in the far left side along with the washer and dryer hookups down there. Back then, (Not sure if there still is) there was brown wood panel walls in the basement that you could pull away at certain spots exposing beneath the house. My brother and I had our bedroom in that basement. There are 4 rooms on the top floor with two bathrooms that connect together by the shower/tub. That room with the windows all around it you see straight ahead when you first come up the stairs, was my dad's office where he had all of his computer stuff. The two rooms on the right side of the hallway on the top floor, were my older sister's rooms and the other room on the left side was my parent's bedroom. My youngest sister had the room that connects to that small bathroom from the kitchen. The dog door on the side of the house on the side porch, was put in by my parents for our, at the time, golden retriever. That additional building that you guys turned into a garage, used to be my parent's studio where they had all of their photography stuff, computers and art things. There was a small garden by the back alley next to that little brown shed and those bushes in the back driveway from the alley, are honey suckle bushes. I hope I will not creep you out with what I am about to tell you next....... my family had experienced a lot of paranormal activity when we were there. A lot of un-explainable things had happened that was just downright scary. Not sure if it's still like that or not, but hoping it's not for you guys. I believe I was 13 by the time my family and I had moved out. Who am I? I am just a past resident of that house.
