I’ve lived in Newton for over 25 years, very nice video. I learned more from your 25 minute video than I did my whole time living here. That sign you showed around the 2 minute mark is fairly new to the town.
As of 2024 the Newton Public Library is now been demolished and a new one was built just east of the old one. The old library is now a parking lot for the new one.
@@WanderingWalksofWonder - the Santa Fe 5/6 Center was never a adminstrative building for the Santa Fe Railroad. When it was first built, it was the high school, then a few years later, it was Santa Fe Middle School with grades 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th then in the early 2000's, the school district changed it to just 5th & 6th grade and 7th & 8th grade moved out to our other middle school (Chisholm Middle School) out on East 1st. I attended when it was Santa Fe Middle School in the mid-to-late 80's as my 8th grade year was the 1989-1990 school year. The building that is now City Hall of Newton, is the building that used to be the Middle Division offices for the Santa Fe Railroad. Both my Great-Gpa, my Gpa and my Mom all three worked for the Santa Fe (72 years and 6,7 months combined service between the 3) and my mom worked in the building as a crew clerk when the Santa Fe left Newton in October of 1990 and took their offices to Kansas City, Kansas and Ft. Worth, Texas
I"ve lived in Newton for 66 years and the Santa Fe 5/6 building you showed us to the Newton High School. The info you gave is not correct. The new high school was build in the early to mid 70's
Thanks. I had a lot of trouble understanding the history of the 5/6 building. Any materials I researched didn't fully explain the details and history. Thanks for letting me know.

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
I like how architecture builds different styles. Beautiful
Glad you like them!
Pretty sure that was the original high school not a Santa Fe office building. City hall is where the Santa Fe regional offices used to be.

Like the new intro!
Thanks!
