How to Make EVA Foam Flowers Perfect for Crafts Props and Cosplay with Free Templates

- In this video I'm going to go over How to Make Flowers Out of EVA Foam. Plus I have Free templates available on my site that you can download and build right along with me. This is a super easy project especially for those cosplay beginners or more specifically those wanting to learn the basics of foamsmithing. These flowers can easily be crafted out of EVA Foam in a couple of hours and you pick up some of the key fundamentals to the building process. I also go over the painting techniques used in this build including hand painting with acrylics and airbrushing Createx paints.

Perfect, thanks, was looking for some roses for an Alice in Wonderland Escape Room decor and prop theme.
Thanks so much for the free template, I want red and white ones, obviously, so actually going to cut them from cheap precoloured foam I found at a local cheap Chinese crap (CCC) store here in Melbourne, Australia. My plan is to cover a 50cm beach ball to make a topiary look tree so only need a handful of flowers, yet to decide what to do to cover the beach ball otherwise. As I want to be able to pack these props away to change out themes occasionally I plan to put little velcro dots all over the beach balls and in the back of each flower and possibly leaf groupings.
Haven't used my heat gun on foam yet, so will see how good I can get them with your tutorial help, currently summer here so will be working outside in addition to mask.

I had no idea that you could paint foam...youre definately telling me lots of valuable info that I never had before!
Just make sure it’s a flexible paint like acrylics. Spray paints will crack

Rewatching to ensure I'm about to score on the correct side, you say backside but then it appears to be the top or inside???
Doens't really matter if it above or below it just helps break the surface tension of the petal so it bends better

do you not seal your foam?
Depends on the application. I always lightly heat seal the foam but for something like this heavy body acrylics are prefect. My HD-Foam is a much higher density than most so it’s not near as porous. The whole reason you seal less dense foam is to keep the foam from soaking up to much paint but that doesn’t happen with my higher quality HD-Foam. And these small accessories are not going to receive additional wear and tear like a prop or costume.
