I’m in my mid 70’s. Never in my wildest dreams did I suspect the music we did in the early 60’s would manage to survive for decades, only to be performed by talented young ladies . . . who are younger than my own grandchildren. Back then we were kids who enjoyed just the thrill of being on stage and performing for like-minded teenagers. Now, seeing ‘The Surfrajettes’ in 2021? Unbelievable is all I can say! Good Job!!
Thank you so much for being a part of The Ventures' "future history" -- it's musicians like you who keep the tunes alive and growing. You're the best, and we are proud to have you in the documentary.
You girls are awesome! I should know. I’ve been a musician for 54 years and have followed the Ventures for that long. Saw them live twice. You girls make me proud. You are keeping their wonderful sound alive. You proves to me that there is hope for the future after all! Never stop!
Walk Don't Run was a song in my guitar class that was in our lesson book that we would eventually learn. Needles to say I taught it to myself because I love surf music and I just had to learn it!!!!!! It remains one of my favorites!! Plus when you're in Guitar Center and everybody else is playing the forbidden riff or Free Bird and you whip out Walk Don't Run, you definitely feel like the coolest person in the room LOL! Thank you ladies!!
"Walk Don't Run" was one of the first songs I learnt to play too (in 1968), and still one of my favorites. But you play with such a light touch. That's why I never get tired of listening to your music.
Walk Don’t Run was one of the first songs I learned to play also when I took lessons in the late 60s. Forty years later I picked up the guitar again and I STILL could play it from memory!
Summer 1963 - my first (in person) introduction to electric guitar. The neighbors next door had hired a band for their party, and they were playing Ventures songs all night. Needless to say, I was buying Ventures albums as soon as I could save up the money. I know you hear it all the time, but it's so cool you guys are keeping the flame.
I first listened to The Ventures when I was 5 years old back in 1971 in my hometown of Mexico City, the only record we had in the house was "Knock Me Out" I would get in our TV room where we have the record player and stayed there for hours at the time playing the same record over and over and over with a broomstick and a cord tied on each end playing air guitar. Later somebody brought Santana music home and the same thing. It was not until probably a few years back thanks to Spotify that I was able to listen to the original music from the LP again. Thank you for keeping the music alive!!!
The Ventures were the reason I learned guitar. I Had 20 of their albums and now have all the songs on cd's. I love hearing your covers as well as your originals. Rock On Ladies !
Just ordered a Ventures poster from the movie. The Ventures has been an important part of my life teaching me to play the guitar since I was a kid in 1967. I play their music every time I pick up my guitar. This week I will watch the movie.
Good job. I have the original Walk Don't Run album. I played in a rock band in the mid 60s. When we played walk don't run you couldn't tell it from the Ventures. I had a 1959 Stratocaster. He had a Jaguar. Our lead player was that good. RIP Wesley.
I learned that song and a few other Ventures tunes off their instructional 33 1/3's back in 1965. Thank you, Surfrajettes, for keeping this great music going.
Great job on Walk Don't Run! I loved it! It was actually the first song I ever learned on guitar back in 60's! My Dad had the 45 and we used to play it all the time. Thank you for bringing that time back for me!
Thank you so much ladies! I absolutely love the Ventures and got to hang with Don Wilson last year in Seattle. He's such a nice guy. You do him and the Ventures a great honor by continuing to play their music.
Congrats! My favorite musicians, The Ventures. I have 88 of their albums (not all). They taught me how to play. My favorites are the 'Latin Album' and 'Beethoven', oh and '1965' and 'The Ventures Play the Blues', oh and ..... Thanks for this great cover and we love you guys!
I love the Ventures...grew up playing drums to their records in the early to mid 60's. Played them live many times. I must say that you guys have the greatest tone for the music you do...awesome job.
Great version, ladies....Shermy, I love how you covered the drum break before the last verse. And congrats on being in the film. You are doing a LOT to introduce this music to a new generation of fans!
You gals are really terrific, The younger kids have no clue what true music is....You are one of the most original bands I've seen in years....Very classy and you all work together for a great show.....your outfits are the cats meow....Thank You
It was a wonderful listening to The Ventures on radio back in the 60s and now, in 2021, their tunes still makes me happy. Fantastic listening to this generation in its purest form of guitar then. It was very enjoyable - down memory lane for me. Thanks!
Great idea to drop the glis from '64 in! I've always dreamed of forming an instrumental surf band, and calling them "The Dentures" (I'm 74). In my band days, '60s - '70s, we always opened with "Walk--Don't Run". It's a timeless fave.
That has to be my favorite instrumental of all time. I still remember when I first heard it as a kid listening to my Dad’s records. Thanks for playing that and congrats on making it into the movie.
I really enjoyed the Ventures when I was young and I still enjoy them now. That's probably partly why I always enjoy seeing your videos! Keep it up! and props for being recognised in the Ventures doco.
Just when I think the darkness is its deepest, I see wonderful ladies dedicating themselves to something I took for granted in my youth, keeping alive the sounds of surfin' in to the 21st Century! Kowabunga!
I’m in my early 60’s. I grew up listening to my father’s Ventures albums. To this day I still listen to the Ventures music. Their music will never be out of style. Keep up the great work.
Love your "Walk, don't Run" cover. I too was inspired by the Ventures, Beach Boys, and the Beatles when I picked up the guitar in High School back in the 60s.
Where to start? !!!! Girls ! At the 3:40 minute of this video, I checked out, The Ventures:Stars on Guitars Movie. I've Amazon Prime, so it just played on my computer... I had to check it out after your introduction! Damn glad I did. I watched it start to finish, then had a coffee, and watched it again, start to finish. Speechless ! You're an integral part of telling the 'story' of the Ventures. You Stood up and Represented! Kudos to your Band, and I miss Sarah!. Kudos for being so very respectful, while having the ability to pull off searing versions of Ventures Songs, again, in your OWN style. That's what the Ventures did. I admit I purchased it and watched it simply because the Surfrajettes were in it. I quickly realized this was a high production value... telling of the tale. It, (The Ventures:Stars on Guitars) is now in my permanent collection. What a Fantabulous View! I'll watch it again and again thru the years. Covid Suks! It hurt your Band, hurt all of us, and left us without new material for so long. I just watched the Halloween song! Life is good again! Thank you for that. Anyway, wanted to give a shout out from Santa Cruz California. We LOVE you here! and yeah...I'm Jonesing over a sparkle lime green Creston..... Thank you for asking! Mike !!!
WOW did that song bring back memories. My Dad had that album and I would hear it all the time. It's the first time I have heard it in over 40 years. Great song.
Woa can't wait to see the documentary I love The Ventures thanks for bringing it to my attention and congratulations for being in it you girls deserve it you're very talented musicians
Great job! The Ventures never played it better. I’m from Tacoma, the same town at the Ventures, and I started playing guitar in the 60’s inspired by them then the Beatles. Love your interpretations! Beautiful guitars too...
These two young ladies are fabulous and both are very talented guitarists...The Ventures were my fav group of school days and its amazing to see these wonderful gals are extending and enhancing the popularity of surf
Back in the 60's, Walk Don't Run was the very first song I learned on my guitar and I still love it today. The sound you get from your guitar, amps, and playing style is really impressive and shows a real understanding of and love for this era of music.
Next week, I will turn 59. Until one or two years ago when UA-cam recommended a Surfrajettes video, I never would have believed that I would become quite a fan. Keep up your excellent work, ladies! My wife is seriously ill (Parkinsonism) but also does find enjoyment and relaxation listening to your genius music! She shares my good taste, ha ha.
I got my copy of this as soon as I could get it and played immediately. I just came here to boost interest in this contemporary talent and give a thumbs up.
With what is going on in our country right now, you girls are such a breath of fresh air to watch and listen to. keep up the great classic playing of great music from the awesome days of yesteryear.

I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. I am 74 years old. I grew up with the Ventures so to speak. You two are fabulous.
Right on!
I’m in my mid 70’s. Never in my wildest dreams did I suspect the music we did in the early 60’s would manage to survive for decades, only to be performed by talented young ladies . . . who are younger than my own grandchildren.

Amazing cover ! The Ventures will always have a special place for all guitarists. They all grew up on trying to learn their iconic songs.

I learned that song and a few other Ventures tunes off their instructional 33 1/3's back in 1965. Thank you, Surfrajettes, for keeping this great music going.
Instructional 33 1/3rds? That sounds interesting, kind of an analogue youtube tutorial.
How cool that The Surferjettes made it into the Ventures movie!

The Ventures... especially the album "In Space" has been one of the strongest influences in my written music. Thank you for the music....
