  • In this video I will restore a chair that was bombed during WW2, in Tallinn.
This chair was made in Poland by the company "WOJCIECHÓW" which is well known in the history of the Polish furniture industry, as it was the first Polish factory of bent beech furniture. It was founded in 1872 by Count Wojciech Poletyłło on part of his land in Wojciechów, where he had excellent access to the raw material, as the area was rich in beech forests. The company developed very dynamically, hence already in 1875. opened its branch in Warsaw at ul. Gęsia (on the premises of the former soap factory), where the bent furniture elements were delivered and only here, on the spot, they were assembled/screwed together and sold further. In 1884 Count Poletyłło's company was transformed into the "Towarzystwo Akcyjne Fabryki Mebli Giętych Wojciechów". The recipients of products from Wojciechów were customers not only from the Kingdom of Poland, but also from Russia, Germany, France, Belgium, and the company itself had its stores and warehouses, among others in Warsaw (at ul. Miodowa 3 and ul. Ossoliński 6 and at Krakowskie Przedmieście 13 and Plac Grzybowski 1), Poznań, Odesa, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kyiv. Furniture was also sent to the countries of North and South America. Unfortunately, in 1925 the factory collapsed and was taken over by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego. In 1927, it was further sold to a new private investor, who went bankrupt after five years. in 1929 furniture from the Auction Society of the Bent Furniture Factory "Wojciechów" was still presented at the famous General National Exhibition in Poznań, presenting the achievements of the reborn Polish State. It is officially assumed that the factory ceased its activity in 1933."

👍👍👍💯💯💯💥💥💥👏👏🤔😍

Google Translated from Russian: What we saw at the beginning of the video, and then at the end - this is heaven and earth! Incredibly complex painstaking work of the highest level is shown step by step, in detail. Here is the master class! At first glance, it was terrible to touch this chair - a dead, hopeless option, crippled by time and, it seemed, could not be restored - rubbish, dust, firewood for the stove. But you proved with your skill that such a "disabled war" can be reanimated and saved for posterity, and will live and delight for many more years. Bravo! Applause!!! Here is the result!

79 years may seem like a lifetime, but when I think that I was born only 17 years after 1944 I realise that it was only yesterday. My father fought in that war and my grandfather fought in the Great War. I researched their unit and their pain and trials.
This was a labour of love and as usual a beautiful job. Thanks for being able to not only watch your artists hands draw the beauty and life back into this sad piece of historical significance, but also honour the innocent victims of that cruel war. My heart shed a tear and my eyes followed suit.
